flawed product for inherent problem
Written by SC from Kelseyville
Sep 29, 2006
I could do without the Marware logo, the size of three keyboard keyes in the upper-left corner, and like someone else noted, the thing doesn't stay stucked to the keyboard, because of the heat. It keeps peeling up on the right side. But you need something; the white Macbook stains easily. If only the black model weren't a couple hundred dollars more. Speaking of price, $20 for something that costs the manufacturer maybe fifty cents -- that's the definition of gouging, and reason enough to drop the rating from three stars to one.

rubbish

Buy a regular eyeglass cleaning cloth for the screen and don't bother with the hand rest protector. I had it on for two months and it is filthy brown, makes my computer look disgusting, and yes I do wash my hands. I tried to remove it and the adhesive remains on the computer so I'm stuck with it and hope you don't make the same mistake.

Never Buy This!
Written by PP from Newark

I bought this thinking it was the greatest thing ever. Until I tried to take it off. I took it off and it left this nasty residue all over my handrest. I tried to get the residue off but that didnt work. Instead of keeping it from getting destroyed, it helped in destroying it. I advise no one to ever buy this product, unless your looking to ruin your Macbook.

Horribly executed, barely useful
Written by ER from Riverside

As most of indicated, the keyboard cloth works great - think of it as the thin layer of foam which ships with the macbook, only less cumbersome and softer.
The palm rest is nothing more then a piece of steaming fecal matter. There is no easy way to apply it correctly, it barely fits properly, it's to stretchy and thus if not applied with expert precision the first time, it won't work.
I can't speak to it's long term effects as I trashed it upon trying it the first time.
The cloth is worth it, the palm rest is horrid, and thus $20 is quite a bit for the cloth.18 of 21 people found this useful

Be careful....
Written by OO from Austin

The only part of this product I am satisfied with is the cloth cover for the keyboard. It is great for keeping the screen from getting those key markings and dust build up.
HOWEVER...
What I am very disappointed with is the cover for the palm rest. Although it does a great job of protecting, it also claims that no sticky residue will be left after you remove the cover. THIS IS A FALSE CLAIM!! I have just spent an hour getting this sticky residue off my computer, and I am NOT HAPPY, as you could probably understand why. What upsets me more is that when I asked the sales representative about the product before I purchased it, he also claimed that it would leave no sticky residue!
I don't know if this has happened to anyone else, but I would be very cautious if you are considering purchasing this product.

This is a totall waste of 20 bucks. I bought it for my Black Macbook it has a huge MARWARE Logo and it does not stay stuck to the surface of the machine due to the heat. Good Idea, poor execution.

Worst buy ever...
Written by VH from Orange

The edge turns black and sticky. The surface became black after a while and you can't even wipe it clean. The laptop looks cheap and dirty with it on. Lucky for me, when I peel it off, there was only some sticky residue on the edge, which I cleaned off using a damp cloth. Don't make the mistake of buying this useless overpriced piece of plastic. It's a waste of time, money, and energy. If there was a rating option of negative stars, this would receive a negative 3 stars from me.

Buyer beware
Written by GG from Blandon

I got this after the top casing to my Mac cracked from normal use. I thought it would protect it better. It seems to have, although I'm left with a few problems. The first on is that it gets dirty and is impossible to clean, and the second is that it leaves a sticky residue if you try to remove it, which is also impossible to clean. I'm going to need to replace my top case now!

Packaging interferes with function
Written by AW from New York
May 10, 2007
I bought a protection back for my 1st generation 13" white MacBook after reading the reviews warning about creases in the pad. I left the pad under 4 books to flatten for a week while I went out of town. When I came back, there were still big creases in the wrist pad, especially in the center. I didn't bother to install it, I just returned it to the store and got my money back. Since the pad is folded up in 4 in the packaging, I guess this is a problem with most of the products and didn't try another one. If they sold this product flat, though, I'd try it again because it otherwise seemed nice.
I also saw that the keyboard cover was about 1/4 inch too small in width to cover all the keys. I don't know if the keyboard dimensions are slightly different for the 1st & 2nd generation MacBooks or if the product is inconsistently sized, because some reviewers have mentioned that the cover is fine. In my case, the edges of the first and last keys stuck out and could have left scratch marks on the screen. I kept the foam pad that originally came with the laptop and that has worked well to save my screen from keyboard marks. I've also seen people use overhead/transparency sheets to save their screens.15 of 19 people found this useful

Very disappointed!
Written by AC from Kennewick

I bought this protection pack about a month ago, at first it was awesome, I love it! The package said it would prevent staining from happening, which was why I bought it because my wirst pad had discoloration. After awhile of using it, I began to notice the stains on the protection bad. I'm totally bummed out! I went to take it off the other day, and there is glue on my wrist pad! I use the cloth as a mouse pad! It's a waste of 20 dollars, don't waste your money with this thing!

Upset -- VERY with the Marware hand rest
Written by CP from Post Mills
May 31, 2008
What a mess. I've had the Marward hand rest cover on my Macbook for many months. Now, I've removed it and it has left a thick layer of adhesive rock-glued onto the hand rest. The vegetable oil idea has not worked at all. I'm next going to try alcohol or other solvent. Isn't that great. This product is an enemy of the Mac laptops.

Leaves stuck on glue and stains
Written by MA from San Antonio

I bought this as soon as I bought my macbook to avoid the stains that I had begun to see. As I was going to rate this product I ran across some bacd reviews stating that the product had left stains. I lifted up my own marware protection to find that the glue, or adhesive had become stuck on to my computer, and had also left a yellow tint.

Do Not Buy
Written by CA from Saint Louis
Sep 21, 2007
I bought this product because my handrest was getting dingy. After a few weeks, I began to see a smudgy line left on the screen from pressing down against the handrest when the laptop is closed. It's not easy to clean off. As for the handrest cover itself, I have left it on for several months, trusting the "no residue" promise. But I decided to take it off and found a layer of sticky residue in the areas I've peeled off. I'm very worried about my computer; hoping carefully cleaning the handrest with rubbing alcohol will help. Very disappointed with this product, not worth the $20 at all.

GREAT PRODUCT.... AT FIRST.....
Written by LP
Jun 11, 2007
When I first bought this product I was very satisfied. As anyone else that has just gotten their macbook they want to protect it from scratches. The keyboard cover just bearly covers all the keys, but is great to clean the screen. The wrist rest cover is a different story.
On the package it says it is "easy" to remove and re-apply. Well it is NOT easy to remove, you feel as if you are about to pull your mac apart from pulling so hard! Also, is stated there is no residue left behind...NOT TRUE. I did find sticky residue left behind especially at the corners. After working so hard to take it off carefully, it got stretched out and I couldnt re-apply it! My roommate bought one as well, still has hers on because it is really stuck on there, and she is worried to damage the mac from pulling so hard!
Overall this product is overpriced for something that can damage the beauty of your mac!240 of 304 people found this useful

Not easy to remove as the package claims!
Written by AS from San Ramon

I have had the Marware on my white Macbook for several months now. It got a bit dirty, so I decided to take it off and put a new one on. But the Marware left behind a thick, sticky layer of residue that I can't remove! It's really sticky (not to mention, unsightly and annoying) and I will probably have to use Goo-gone or something similar - but I'm scared to damage my computer! Bottom line: the package is not honest in its claim that the hand rest is "Easy to remove and reapply"!

keyboard cover too small
Written by DP from Chiang Mai
Sep 18, 2008
I've had the wrist protector on for about 1.5 years...surely needs to be replaced at this point, but it has mostly done its job. The keyboard cover, however, is too small - ideally the thick stitched edge should fit nicely into the groove alongside the keyboard, but it doesn't reach that far. Thus it adds unnecessary pressure between the outer keys and the screen and has left permanent marks on my screen over time. I'd stick with just the wrist cover and skip the full protection pack.
