Great physics system that allows you to use the terrain to black incoming attacks from aircraft and prevent ground units from reaching you,
Resource control is less required in this game then it is with Starcraft/Warcraft 3.
I'd also like to note that units require much more attention then in typical RTS's.

    Awesome Game and Package

Written by RH from Crystal Lake

    Jan 5, 2009

This game is great and I was very satisfied with the deluxe edition package. It offers amazing graphics and tons of missions and skirmish maps with exquisite graphics. Quite a step up from previous Command and Conquer Games. I do with there was some water warfare, however.

I highly recommend this game to anyone who has enjoyed any Command and Conquer Games in the past. You will love it!

    Great Game!

    Written by JC from Oakdale

I have not yet had the chance to play this game on a Mac, but from my experience playing Command and Conquer Generals (and Zero Hour) on my PC, I am very happy. From very easy settings to very hard, whether playing challenge, storyline or skirmish, this game provides hours of entertainment. The online gameplay is even more challenging due to the unpredictability of other human players.

Works great with the Intel Patch

    Written by RW from Corona

I play this game on an Intel 2.8 iMac. Out of the box it runs slow, but once you update the software for the intel chip it screams. If you are a fan of C&C on the PC, you will not be disappointed.....Good times!

    We'll call this one bliss

Written by JS from Bear Valley

Tho this game may run slow on Intel macs, i am running an iBook G4 and this game runs very smoothly. The AI in this game is great, the enemy is challenging all the time, and they never use the same tactics over and over unlike other games like this. The graphics are above average, while the detail of the infintry troops leaves something to be desired. But overall this is a great game, and i would reccomend to any dedicated mac user.

    Solid Game

Written by AM from Hot Springs National Park

It's a solid game on iMacs, powerbooks, powermacs, and macbook pros. Why? B/C they all fall in the specs for the game. Obviously anything with integrated graphics is going to be miserable to play with. My iMac intel runs it smooth and clean.

    Black ground

Written by BM from Gooseberry Hill

Loaded the patch onto my new MacPro, but the ground is black and does not open up, even when you move through the terrain and it runs quiet slow. A great game though.

    This game is great!

Written by AB from El Dorado Hills

This game is great and runs amazingly well on my new mac book pro. at first it was really slow and lagged, i found out that there is a patch you need to download from www.aspyr.com to run it on the intel core duo - that did the trick. This is the first game i've played on my mac. I have tons of PC games, and I am beyond impressed with how well my mac book pro runs the game... it's effortless.

    A failure..

    Written by JX

    Feb 22, 2007

This is a great game. I have, played and completed 1/2 the game, or the Generals part, not Zero Hour on the PC. Being such a great game on the PC, i bought it along with my macbook black (2.0ghz core 2 duo w/1gb ram and intel 950 graphics)..

thinking its fully capable of running it.. installed.. started it up and it LAGGED lowest settings too.. then i updated with universal binary patch from aspry.. LAGGES AS WORSE.. finally im just giving up..

the PC version ran on my aging (almost 3 years ago) 1.5ghz Pentium M notebook with 512mb ram and ati video card.. on high too..

conclusion: not worth it unless you can deal with the lag..

    Worst of the series

    Written by DG from Seattle

    Jan 19, 2007

I have played almost all of the Command and Conquer series of games, most on a windows machine, but this one is the worst I have ever played. Poor graphics, limited options for configuring keyboard and controls, week story line, no actors. It was a big waist of money. Also difficult to play on a lap top. DO NOT BUY, unless you have money to though away. I miss the old ones, but none are available for the lastest MAC OS X, such a disapointment.

    upgrade price

Written by AM from Sherman Oaks

    Nov 4, 2006

Unfortunately, they don't offer the upgrade (zero hour) to the original C&C. So now if you own the original C&C and want the upgrade you have to buy the whole game again for the full price. Can you say ripoff?

    Too Slow on New MacBooks

Written by DS from Foster City

    Oct 22, 2006

I have long been a fan of this series for its mix of strategy and action. Game play deserves a five star rating but performance on the MacBook is unacceptably slow. I was very disappointed to learn that the game runs slower on a MacBook with 1GB RAM than it does on a G4 PowerBook and it was already running slowly on that platform. It is actually too slow to enjoy in my opinion so I would wait until some sort of patch is available for the new MacBook.

    Too slow

    Written by JC from Cumming

I find Command & Conquer Generals painfully slow on Mac, compared with the PC version. I gave it three stars because it's still a fun game.

    Great Game, Slow with Intel

Written by JH from Mill Valley

    Jun 29, 2006

This game rocks. I've been playing the C&C series since it came out (and stooped to using a PC to do it too). I've been playing this on my 1.33ghz 768mb ram 15" powerbook and was excited for a significant performance boost with my new intel laptop, but was disappointed to see that it actually ran SLOWER, even with all the graphics turned off. 2gb of ram would certainly boost rosetta, but without an update, this game is much too slow. Supposedly, an update will be available soon from Aspyr.

    slow on Imac

    Written by JH from Ardmore

    Jun 10, 2006

Other than the fact that it creeps on my new imac, the game is fantastic. I can't wait for the patch to come out so I can actually play it on my nice big screen instead of on my little powerbook.

great game.... very slow on mac

Written by RG from New York

    Jun 6, 2006

this is a great game! i played it on an iMac G5 1.8 Ghz ((the older version) and it was terrible! the graphics were so messed up... like smudged or something and the overall speed of the game (including loading times) were very long when compared to a 3 Ghz Pentium 4 WIndows pc.

I tried playing the game on the new iMac Intel COre Duo and it was a bit better with the loading times but the graphivcs were the same as on the G5.

I would recommend this game in the near future once the patch comes out because it will most likely be a bit cheaper by then.

Have been playing this game on a pc for a few years now, but on my intelmac it runs very bad. Hopefully universal binaries patch will come out soon..... because, if you ask me, this is the best rts game ever.
