Call of Duty 2
Super Intense and runs great!
Written by NK from Seattle

I have a 1.83ghz macbook pro with only 512 RAM and the 128mb graphics.
I have to say I was amazed that I can run pretty much full everything. The graphics are awesome. I think the Xbox 360 version uses a lower polly count because after playing it on Xbox and not being amazed, I was pleasently suprized to find such a good looking game on mac. Especially with specs equal to the cheapest imac (well, not anymore).
Basically what I'm saying is that any intel mac apple sells with a dedicated graphics chip can easily run this with great graphics and framerate.
As far as single player goes, its seriously one of the most intense games ever. Usually I get bored of single player and just play multi player, but not with this game. I beat the whole thing on easy, and I am not going back through on the hardest level, making it even more intense. The audio is so realistic, although the people around you repeat themselves often.
The only thing I dont like about the game is the physics in multiplayer. There isnt enough realistic satisfaction when you or others die. But I'm just a fan of heavy ragdoll physics.

Great game on Mac!
Written by BP from San Diego

Worth the wait I've played this game on pc and it plays just as well on mac if you meet system requirements. I've played some single player and multi player and its all good but the multi player is currently at v1.0 on release and pc was just updated to 1.2. I've contacted aspyr regarding this and there currently working on the patch to bring us current with pc users. Having said all that there are still many multi player servers to play in. I was tempted to give 4 stars because of this but its a great game and I might have had to wait even longer for release if it came patched. All in all if your mac can play this game and you like fps shooters this in my opinion is the best out for mac. Happy hunting!

I never thought it would happen...

...but my Intel iMac has become the primary gaming machine in the house. I have other first person shooters for it including Doom 3 and Unreal Tournament 2004, but when I picked up Call of Duty 2, it's been bullet shells and explosions in my apartment since. I have the 20-inch iMac with the 256 VRAM + 1 GB Memory and this thing SCREAMS at the highest settings. My only complaint out of the box is that I'm finally going to need to change my Mighty Mouse.

Call of Duty 2
Worth the wait
Written by AJ from Rockville

As often as not the sequel to a breakthrough game is a big let down but this release improves on the first Callof Duty. The battles are much more intense, you really have to keep on your toes. The Germans are smarter than before and counter your moves all of the time. The game feels different as well, the graphics are richer and there are more places to move and hide. Some of the levels are a bit tediuos but all in all It's incredibly addictive and will lead to a lot of replay. One warning, the game recommends a machine with Dual 2.0ghz or more, I'm on a Dual 1.8ghz and it struggles at times.

It Does Work!

Like anything else, if you have the proper hardware above and beyond the "minimum" requirements, you'll be fine. I have the demo version no and can tell you on a G5 PowerMac Dual 1.8Ghz with 2.5Gig of Ram and a 256 Meg ATI 9000 Video card you can't beat it. No lags, no halts, no issues. That's the bottom line. Definately a 5 star game if you have the hardware. If not, it's only worth a star or two.

Way better than any FPS on the Mac. Great graphics (dual 1.8 G5, Ati 9650... going to upgrade the card), amazing sound, amazing experience and the multi-player is great (you can play on-line with PC users, which is something that Quake 4 needs). Hopefully we'll keep getting more "A" quality titles... hopefully Apple can get its game on and help out developers. Buy it NOW!

Working for me on Leopard and my 24" iMac
Written by FD from Raleigh
Jan 11, 2008
I purchased a new 24" iMac (2.8 GHz/2 GB mem) late in 2007. I then installed Leopard upon its availability. Seeing these complaints about COD 2, I hesitated until now to purchase it, but I took the chance last week and so far, so good. I installed the game and my immediate experience was that when I started it, I got nothing but a black screen and no sound. After a few tries, I realized that perhaps if I restarted my iMac, it would work. It did. I then downloaded the 1.3 patch from Aspyr and started the game. As I said, so far, so good. By the way, I had played version 1 a lot on my older iMac (800MHz) but only in single-player mode. Too date, I've only played COD 2 in single-player mode as well. I love playing this game.

Awsome game. Runs Great on Macbook Pro 2.2Ghz, 15"

Was hesitant to purchase this game based on one of the reviews warning that it didn't run good on the Macbook Pro with the Santa Rosa chipset. I have to say that I encountered no problems at all with the game. It never froze or crashed once. Ran very smoothly on the optimal default settings. I installed the available patch, installed the game and have been enjoying it since... I have 4 gigs of ram and the GeForce 8600M GT graphics board with 128 megs. I would highly recommend this game to anyone with a Macbook Pro.

AWSOME!

This game is one of the best I have ever played! Its way more intense than star wars battlefront, and beats xplane by a long shot. Although the grenades are a little unpredictable. The graghics are good, but all you have to do is go to options, click graghics and change it to high quality. This adds more dynamic lights, and makes the water look incredible! This makes the game look awsome. I highly recommend this game to you. Trust me, its worth the money.

My, Oh My.

Fact: This game is the best WWII shooter for Mac that there has ever been. It's rewriting the books in level design and has incredible AI. If you don't have this game already, then you are missing out on the best shooter of the last several years. The graphics are incredible. The only bummer is the high system requirements, but, if your mac is up for the challenge of running this game, you're in for one heck of a ride.

Great!!!!!!
Written by JS from New York

This game is absolutely amazing. It works great on my 2GHz Intel Core 1 Duo MacBook with 1 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM (Leopard installed) with barely any lag. The single player campaign is great until you finish it, then it gets boring and you move on to the multiplayer, which is incredible. I only wish that the game had custom maps like multiplayer, but you could do whatever you want. All in all, this game is worth all $50 and the single and multiplayer games are amazing.

The controls are slightly different than CoD1 but often for the better. Grenades are handled with the touch of the button, much easier to use.
The weapons are generally better and the sounds are incredible.
MP is a load of fun with redone classic maps and great newer ones.
SP is insane, although there were not enough russian maps. DDay is a great map.35 of 42 people found this useful
