    Worth The Money

    • Written by from Ellicott City

Overall this mic has been very good.
Never had problems that serious. Sometimes
when I record audio I get a bit of backround
noises but it picks up my voice extremely
well. This is at a fair price and I've had it for
almost a year. I've also had my kids drop it a
couple times but it doesn't mess up the audio
at all. Not saying go drop it off a 5 story building
and see if it's broken, haha.

    Not for the New

    • Written by from ALBANY

When I first bought it, it did work. It worked well and I used it a lot. But then I traded my MacBook Pro for the latest model with the up-to-date operating system and now it doesn't work. People keep this in mind when you're looking to purchase it.

    Blue Microphone

    • Written by from Kenilworth

Recently purchased this mic. The sound quality is brilliant. The design is fantastic and you'd find it hard to get such a versatile mic thats as easy to use. The only reason I haven't given it 5 star is that I haven't used it enough to deem it perfect yet.

    Fantastic!

I've had this mic for a week, barely that much time, and I'm rockin' away. This mic sounds amazing... That's not just because it's me, but because it's made by the right people. Get some serious quality out of this baby for a fraction of the cost of the mics that are SUPPOSED to sound like this. NICE WORK!

    Compares with high end mics

    • Written by from Calgary

I have a number of mics, including ones that cost several times what the Snowball costs. I also usually record in a sound treated room.
With the Snowball, I get very high quality sound right at my desk. I don't dampen the reflections behind the mic or do anything to the room, I just plug and play.

This mic sounds nothing short of amazing. If you can't get this mic to sound good, you shouldn't be using a mic at all! I havent' tested it with guitars or (singing) vocals yet, but for podcasting, this is all you need.

Oh and it works perfectly with the Camera Connection Kit and iPad as well.

    great little usb mic

    • Written by from new city

ive been producing my own stuff on logic for the past four years and buying this usb mic was one of the best investments i made. its perfect for recording live instruments, so your not stuck with the digital amps and pedals that logic has. i have an orange crush 35ldx and i love the sound it has and the sunshine combo amp setting just doesnt cut it for me (its logics digital take on the orange amp) so im real stoked about being able to record with my real pedals and amps now. it was a little complicated to set up at first but if you read the instructions it will take you 2 minutes. buy this mic!

    Great for the amateur musician

    • Written by from Salt Lake City

Have been using this for a few years, recorded around 30 songs with it with Garageband at my computer desk. Very nice sound for the price, plug and play works flawlessly, great for acoustic guitar and vocals. Have never tried podcasting with it, although other reviews cover that. Highly recommended for the amateur songwriter looking for a way to get their acoustic instruments into their computer. 5 stars given it does everything i want it to for the price, you can go more expensive and higher quality if you want to, but do you really need to?

    Disappointing for the price.

    • Written by from Montreal

I'm a voice over artist, and often have to send auditions in mp3 format over the web. Unfortunately, this microphone is barely better than 40$ usb mic. I took it back to the store, since with a little work i could make the build in mic from my iMac work about the same for auditions in mp3 format. This is a good mic for chatting, podcasts and stuff, but if you work as a narrator or advertiser, you better spend 50$ more and get the Yeti. The good thing is, it's plug and play. Be careful with the mic USB port, it's fragile and has a big breaking potential.

    a good stepping stone...

    • Written by from College Station

if you're a musician like i am, and are looking to make your home recordings sound more professional, this is a good mic to start with. not much noise, no hums or buzzes or anything like that. however, you may not get that studio-perfect sound. for the price it is well worth it. after using it for about a year though, i'm left wanting a little more, and will probably upgrade to one of Blue's better models. the design is sexy, the construction is impressive, and it was even rained on through an open window one night and still serves me faithfully.

    Excellent

    • Written by from Kansas City

I'm not an audio professional nor am I trying to be one. I do self help videos for various application and video conferences.

For awhile I was using one of my mac laptops to record audio. However I started to get complaints about background noise. I've been dealing with cheap microphones that cost anywhere from 25 to 75 USD. They get the job done but the quality of the audio is very poor.

I just bought my first Blue product which was the snowball. I just plugged it in and did a simple test run in screen flow. This product is just amazing for the price. I really can't believe the sound quality. I recommended this product / brand to anyone, there isn't really anything else out there price range wise that even comes close to this.

    Snowball USB microphone

    • Written by from Kingwood

The Snowball worked fine out of the box. However, I made the mistake of trying the firmware update. After that, the performance was so poor that it's useless. I've tried several downloads and get no help. I've recently upgraded my Macbook Pro to Snow Leopard, and it will not recognize the Snowball. Sometimes these devices work-sometimes they don't. This one doesn't work on my Macbook Pro.

    I love this Mic.

    • Written by from Burlington

This mic is something that I use for recording my voice for music, and for recording my acoustic guitar. So far, this has been an excellent microphone! I'm no pro by any means, but I just wanted to start out with something that I could use easily and for a decent price. I'd totally recommend this mic.
Just to emphasize how easy to use this thing is, I was creating a song on my mpb the other night at a place other than my home. I had one of my friends listen to the song, and she loved it, and she asked if she could help or be in it. So I pulled the mic out of backpack and recorded her singing for the song right then and there, in my car. All you have to do is just plug it in. It worked and sounded wonderful!

    Amazing Fidelity!

    • Written by from Cape Carteret

I am a saxophone player, and I was searching for something that I could record with and listen back to my sound in order to critique myself. When I got it, it was definitely unique looking; when I plugged it in, the setup took less than 30 seconds, and the sound quality was simply amazing. My sister came into the room after I had recorded, and I played back the recording across a PA system, and she turned around thinking that I was playing. That's how great the quality is. I use the snowball to record with quicktime as well as garage band, both of which are very easy to use with this mic. The second position (-10db) is great for wind instruments such as trumpet and saxophone. Great buy!

    Excellent Mic

    • Written by from Kuna

I went searching for a mic that would add some depth to my voice when recording into a MacBook Pro. I am not a pro podcaster or musician, but I wanted a mic that was quality for a reasonable price - the Blue Snowball fit the bill.

The Blue Snowball took out the tinny sound that I experienced using the built in mic on the MacBook Pro and allowed me to create rich audio. Again, I am not a pro musician, but it was a giant leap forward from the built in mic.

Thanks BLue for this great product.

    Sounds Good

    • Written by from Winnipeg

I bought this to record my voice and it records great. I have to sit fairly close and I find it a bit hard to sit rigidly so as to maintain a constant distance from the thing, but it sounds pretty good compared to built-in microphones. If you need something better than what Apple builds into your Mac, it's worth it.

LOVE IT, LOVE IT, LOVE IT!!

    • Written by from GULFPORT

You almost always get what you pay for. The only thing I was leery about was what the box said it could do for "ONLY" $100.00 - I don't mind paying for quality - it's just the way it is. I will tell you that IT IS WORTH ALL 100 OF THOSE DOLLARS! I use it for voice and PodCasting and could NOT BE HAPPIER. I did buy Blue's Pop Filter as well as The Ringer and it sounds amazing! You can't go wrong with Blue no matter what. They are one of the best at mic technology and even though this is the cheapest mic they sell (not counting the Mikey) they did not scrimp on quality. Makes sense, they have an amazing reputation to uphold. If you need or simply want a great mic on a budget or just being frugal - do not wait one more day; Go buy one, you will thank me later! Enjoy... And no, I am not in any way a rep of Blue - just a very pleased consumer.

Best Podcast Mic on a Budget

    • Written by from Aurora

Really excellent ease of use, sound quality, and form factor. I do a two man podcast with it and have had both of us on the same mic and no one can tell. Range and compression are just awesome. I couldn't possibly recommend another mic.
