    IT WORKS ON INTEL MAC'S!!!

Written by BM from La Grande

    Jan 31, 2007

I am playing this game on a 1.83 GHz MacBook Intel Core Duo with 512 MB of RAM. and I have not had a problem. Here is how I got it to work. before I ran the game for the first time I installed the Universal patch from apple.com. Once that was done I have not had a problem. (Note: I have not tried to import any songs from iTunes yet) My sugestion to people who can't get the game to work is to delete the game and ALL its preference files. Put the game back on your hard drive (But do NOT open it yet.), Install the universal patch then open the game. Hope that works.

have on PC, may buy for Mac

Written by LG from Round Lake Park

I own this game for my PC, and I find it to be a lot of fun to play. It appeals both to adults and children. Versions 1 and 2 were simple 2-D games, but this one is fully 3D. And, for the first time in this franchise, you can 'ride' the coasters you build.

The game play permits a career mode, where you progress through various exercises in building theme parks consisting of various thrill rides, including of course signature roller coasters. You have limited time, money, area, and have specific goals that you have to meet.

However, I find the sandbox mode more interesting, where you are freed from the constraints of money and time and can just design anything you want, to your heart's content. This is also the simplest mode for children to enjoy it.

I'm not sure why the list price is TWICE that of the PC version. For the same money, you can get the PC version, plus their "Soaked" add-on that adds waterpark features, and still have money left over for a fast food meal. If this release by Aspyr includes "Soaked", then it seems a reasonable deal.

Note that this game requires substantial performance to be playable on a PC, and I expect the Mac version will be similar in that respect. Running on a computer without a high-end video card and CPU will be disappointing.

Even though I might already have a PC game, I generally consider supporting software development for Mac OS by buying another copy for my Mac. But in this case, the list price might be way out of line.

This game is great! I'm using a dual g4 with plenty of ram and have never had any problems running it. It has all the fun of earlier RCTs plus the added excitement of 3D and other great new features when you want it. I would recomment this game to any who have the system requirements to play. The only downfall is how addicting it can be.

I have a mac mini, and it works FINE!!! I LOVE IT!! What you need to do if it is sluggish is get the universal patch for it. You can just download it for free on the apple website. You may need to uninstall rct3, but it is so worth it!

I used to play it on the old pc that i have and the pc would always freeze up, kick me out, and be very slow...Ever since i played it on my mac i have enjoyed it alot more. The Graphics are so much better, it is very fast and rarely freezes, I love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    I have a 2gig macbook.
    The game runs just fine.
I installed the patch before playing it and that seemed to help alot. However, it does crash. I save alot so it doesn't kill the game. Its just not as fun to play knowing that its going to end with out you knowing. I really hope apple or the creaters re-think the patch and make a better one. The game itself is great. I think even though they went 3-D it still feels just like the older RCT's. Its worth it if they fix the crashes.

This is the greatest Roller Coaster Tycoon game yet. I played it on my friend's PC and it was great. I've waited so long for the mac version (because of it's better graphics). I am a mac fan and finally i can play my favorite game on my mac mini. I highly reccomend this game for anyone who has played Sim Theme Park (which doesn't compare to RCT 3).

    Beware of buying this Item

Ok. Let me start by saying this game looks awesome and could be awesome. I, however, have had nothing but annoying glitches and crashes. I am running a brand new iMac 20 inch with 1.5gb of ram. I don't know if it is an issue with Aspyr or with the video card apple chooses to use, but this is ridiculous. I would wait until the bugs are fixed. If the game worked smoothly, I would give it five stars. Unfortunately, it is impossible to play the game for more than twenty minutes. Save your game often!!!

RCT is still a great series, but this Mac port should ran a lot faster. It's still okay to play, but disappointingly slow on my 1.6Ghz PowerPC and also (maybe more) on my 2.16Ghz Intel, both with 1GB ram. I still think it was worth buying.

    Simply The Best

    Written by IS from Westminster

I have played all 3 in the trilogy.
    RCT 3 is simply amazing.

RCT 3’s producer at Frontier, Johnny Watts stated in an August '05 interview that "if RCT3 is going to be as popular on MAC as it was PC that the expansion packs Soaked & Wild will defiantly be available for future released."

As a RCT franchise fan and MAC lover, can I be the first to say…
    You can count on it!

I just got a macbook pro 13inch 1 mouth ago (2.25Ghz, 2 GB ram) this game worked great after i downloaded the patch. Also you have to turn off the shadows in the game menu. If you dont it will freeze up. Also i fixed the random quits of the game by downloading a fan control on my macbook and turning the fans up high, which helps it alot. Over all this game is awesome and i recommend this to anyone who has the same mac.

It would be great, if it worked.

Written by MC from West Jordan

Even with the patch for intel macs to run this game program, it crashes. The game would be fun, if it weren't forever "quitting unexpectedly." Don't waste your money, unless you like to be frustrated by poor performance. Aspyr should have done a little more work to make this game ready for primetime. Instead, it seems they released it as quickly as they could to make their money without regard to customer satisfaction.

    Entertaining but buggy

    Written by MW from Warwick

    Jan 29, 2006

The game would be absolutely fun and entertaining if it wasn't for its buggy behavior. After playing for a week it stopped loading on startup. Created a new user and installed there and it plays again but it crashes every 10 to 20 minutes. I have a dual 1.8Ghz with 1gb ram so there's plenty of hardware here. Hope mfg creates a bug fix.

    3D ruined it..

Written by JY from Fair Lawn

    Jul 10, 2009

i loved the first two games. they were amazing and very easy to pick up and play. RCT3 is just not user friendly. there is too much going on; and the 3D nature of the game ruins the quality and graphics.

while it is awesome to ride your own rides, [no question on the effectiveness of that addition. that is the reason for the 2nd star.] the gameplay is sacrificed. i would play the first two over the third any day.

the old 2D style was better, in my opinion, and the controls were easier. RCT3 takes a lot of getting used to for [what i feel is] half the pay-off; or less.

i just could not get into this one. i tried, but it's just not the best thing that happened to the roller coaster tycoon series..

plus, the graphics were not good enough to be a 3D game. they were choppy and had a very "out-dated" look to them; like a game from 95'.

the first two need to be remastered for mac. if they remade the first two with slightly better graphics and released them for macs, they would have two MUCH better games than RCT3.. the game was just not up to par in any way.

unfortunate when you look at the success of the first two..
    :/

    Great Game!

    Written by JL from Maywood

    Apr 1, 2009

This game is great and have not looked back. Infinite choices when it comes to making roller coasters, many choices for just regular rides and all-around just a great game. Many people have a problem running this game, i found that out too, but through minor tweaks it works great. Just turn off shadows in the game options.

Got my new iMac with 4GB ram and thought the machine would have no problem handling the 3D. I was wrong. It's choppy and a little frustrating to play. If anyone has any ideas to fix this problem I would love to hear it. Otherwise, it's still a fun game...you just need to be patient.

    Crashed often

Written by CW from San Francisco

    Feb 3, 2007

I have a Macbook Pro 2.16Ghz and this program crashes just about every time I play it. I installed the patch and that helped a lot to smooth out the graphics, but it still crashes pretty much every day. Pretty annoying. It is a great game to play, but I guess get in a habit of saving often!
