3D ruined it..

i loved the first two games. they were amazing and very easy to pick up and play. RCT3 is just not user friendly. there is too much going on; and the 3D nature of the game ruins the quality and graphics.
while it is awesome to ride your own rides, [no question on the effectiveness of that addition. that is the reason for the 2nd star.] the gameplay is sacrificed. i would play the first two over the third any day.
the old 2D style was better, in my opinion, and the controls were easier. RCT3 takes a lot of getting used to for [what i feel is] half the pay-off; or less.
i just could not get into this one. i tried, but it's just not the best thing that happened to the roller coaster tycoon series..
plus, the graphics were not good enough to be a 3D game. they were choppy and had a very "out-dated" look to them; like a game from 95'.
the first two need to be remastered for mac. if they remade the first two with slightly better graphics and released them for macs, they would have two MUCH better games than RCT3.. the game was just not up to par in any way.
unfortunate when you look at the success of the first two..

This game would be so much fun if it would stop freezing. It is painful to play. How can they charge $50 for a game that doesn't work properly. PLEASE HURRY AND FIX THE BUGS

Too Slow!

This game would be super exciting, except for the problem of how slow it is! I purchased my imac just a year ago and still have plenty of free space after installing this game. Yet, it still takes eternity to get anything built. The main problem was building foot paths and roller coasters. I spent literally 15 minutes trying to build a foot path that only required five pieces. The game is also very different from the original games and takes some time to get used to. Overall, if the game was going to run this slow for you, them I don't recomend purchasing this game. For me it was definitely not worth the price plus shipping and tax. If you really are going to by this game, I would look into it more and be sure that the game will run properly before you spend 50 dollars.

Too many issues!

Having played the original Roller Coaster Tycoon on a PC, I was exited to try this game on my mac. I have had nothing but problems since I bought it. While the game can be fun for short periods of time, it often crashes or freezes (so be sure to save your progress often if you are playing!). Some of the scenarios have a particular ride or scenery item that causes the game to freeze if I try to build it (it is different depending on the scenario I am playing). When the game does freeze, I am unable to force quit the program...I have to turn the computer off and back on. I also attempted to install the Soaked expansion pack and can no longer open the game at all. Since I have a fairly new Macbook that more than meets the minimum requirements, I am attributing the games' issues to the software and not the computer.

I have a new mac book 2.4 and this game freezes up, is very sluggish and the patch

Way to slow and creaky. Not sure what happened to the game. I have a power pc G5 and it bogs down on the graphics. It's not even fun playing the game any more.

I just got a brand new mac and this game still will not run right. Ive downloaded the patch i think its the updated patch? 2006 i think......Does it automatically go into RCT3 after i download the patch. I couldn't tell a difference with the patch.. Help Has anyone had a slow gm and fixed it with a patch or is it useless!?! Looks fun just can't play it.

Good graphics, great sequel to the previous versions, but Mac version?
Lots of bugs and glitches, and crashes too much. Very laggy on my 1.25GB RAM Macbook. The windows version could do better on another Compaq presario laptop with the same amount of RAM.25 of 55 people found this useful

Not stable - disappointment

Let me begin by saying I LOVE Roller Coaster Tycoon -- and Version 2 on the PC was the best. While Version 3 works well on PC, It does not work well on Mac --
The program is buggy, and even with the patch, crashes often. It runs so slowly it makes gameplay next to useless. Once your park grows beyond about 10 rides, the interface is so slow you can't watch the Coaster Cam without dropped frames and 5 - 10 second pauses while the program catches up. It drops out visuals in the background when this occurs as well.
When I upgraded to the Soaked Expension Pack, the program just ground to a halt.
Not worth the 50.00. Would love to see them port over Roller Coaster Tycoon 2, which remains the definitive version.
I've found this game unusable, as much as I would love to.

it worked great, and was loads of fun, just a bit choppy and slow at running at times, then when i went to use the itunes thing it crashed, and then everytime after that it when i started the game it crashed, even when i reinstalled it.

I have a Macbook Pro 2.16Ghz and this program crashes just about every time I play it. I installed the patch and that helped a lot to smooth out the graphics, but it still crashes pretty much every day. Pretty annoying. It is a great game to play, but I guess get in a habit of saving often!

Love It, But No iTunes:(

This game is totally fun, except for the iTunes problem i'm having. If you are going to get this game because you want to make really cool coasters that go along with your music, forget about it. I tried a lot of times to import my playlist to the game (and it says you can) but it always just exits.

Ok. Let me start by saying this game looks awesome and could be awesome. I, however, have had nothing but annoying glitches and crashes. I am running a brand new iMac 20 inch with 1.5gb of ram. I don't know if it is an issue with Aspyr or with the video card apple chooses to use, but this is ridiculous. I would wait until the bugs are fixed. If the game worked smoothly, I would give it five stars. Unfortunately, it is impossible to play the game for more than twenty minutes. Save your game often!!!

Good game.. Bad when broken

I bought this game today at the local apple store. When I brought it home and installed it, it worked fine, and I enjoyed the game. But when I attempted to play it for the second time, it refused to load. I could hear the sounds of the main menu and I could see my cursor, but the rest of the screen was completely black. To be sure of the error, I tried this on my mac mini, and the results were identical.
Whether or not this was because the disk that I recieved was flawed, or something was wrong with both my ibook and my mac mini (both met the system requirements), it didn't work.
I am extremely dissapointed with this, as it was a extremely entertaining game.32 of 56 people found this useful
