Crashed often
Written by CW from San Francisco
Feb 3, 2007
I have a Macbook Pro 2.16Ghz and this program crashes just about every time I play it. I installed the patch and that helped a lot to smooth out the graphics, but it still crashes pretty much every day. Pretty annoying. It is a great game to play, but I guess get in a habit of saving often!

IT WORKS ON INTEL MAC'S!!!
Written by BM from La Grande
Jan 31, 2007
I am playing this game on a 1.83 GHz MacBook Intel Core Duo with 512 MB of RAM. and I have not had a problem. Here is how I got it to work. before I ran the game for the first time I installed the Universal patch from apple.com. Once that was done I have not had a problem. (Note: I have not tried to import any songs from iTunes yet) My sugestion to people who can't get the game to work is to delete the game and ALL its preference files. Put the game back on your hard drive (But do NOT open it yet.), Install the universal patch then open the game. Hope that works.

Love It, But No iTunes:(
Written by CR from Encinitas

This game is totally fun, except for the iTunes problem i'm having. If you are going to get this game because you want to make really cool coasters that go along with your music, forget about it. I tried a lot of times to import my playlist to the game (and it says you can) but it always just exits.

It does work on Intel Macs
Written by SC from sierraville
Dec 30, 2006
Allright, after reading several reviews...was very skeptical, but once I saw the new Universal patch had been released, I tried it. Glad I did. I have an intel macbook 1.5mb 2.0ghz which was able to handle most of the game features reasonably well. It would slow down when there were several rides and it was "night", so I just kept things to "daytime" when I could. The game will still quit unexpectedly every now and then, but not to the point where it makes the game unplayable...just gotta save quite a bit. - these two reasons are why I gave it a four star instead of a 5, cause the game is very fun and can spend hours creating whole themeparks from scratch or with some guidance. Otherwise, "insidemacgames" has a pretty accurate view as well. Hope this helps

It would be great, if it worked.
Written by MC from West Jordan

Even with the patch for intel macs to run this game program, it crashes. The game would be fun, if it weren't forever "quitting unexpectedly." Don't waste your money, unless you like to be frustrated by poor performance. Aspyr should have done a little more work to make this game ready for primetime. Instead, it seems they released it as quickly as they could to make their money without regard to customer satisfaction.

do not get to attached
Written by JB
Oct 16, 2006
yes, roller coaster tycoon 3 is great, but you can not get too attached. you will want to be able to do things you can only do with the expansion packs like building under ground and creating a water park. but they only make roller coaster tycoon 3 for mac and not the exspansion packs. also, it will sometime not work that well on your computer. i would rate the product five, but it would only be a four or five with the exspansion packs.

Decent
Written by SM from Saginaw
Oct 8, 2006
Id love to give it five stars, because its a great game if you LOVE rollercoasters like I do. I love the in-ride camera, and its fun to make rides with friends....
The reason I gave it 4 stars is because as soon as you get a big park going, it lags very badly. I use a MacMini with 1GB of RAM and it ran fine but once you get more than 10 rides up it lags like none other.
Overall, great game.23 of 36 people found this useful

Rollercoaster tycoon 3 is superlative but I want Atari Frontier and Aspyr to make the Rollercoaster Tycoon 3 Wild Soaked and Gold edition for Mac. I really mean that all of them are superlative, I just said gold edition for other people. Hope they make them soon.

Problems with RCT3 on a G5
Written by PG from South San Francisco
Jun 13, 2006
Although I like the game I had several major problems. On a G5 with 1ghz of RAM the program would consistently close with no warning. With more than one or two coasters in a theme park the car cam became jerky at best. Strangest of all after adjusting some of the option settings in the game the brightness on my screen would enexpectedly go to half brightness when NOT playing it. That could only be corrected by rebooting only to recur every few minutes. Don't know if RCT3 caused the problem but after running the utility disk - system optimizer - zap pram - turning off the energy saver and reloading the latest security update the problem continued and only stopped when I removed all RCT3 files from my hard drive. Perhaps it had something to do with the brightness setting in the game which I adjusted while trying to optimize the games performance.
