Yeah Woo Hoo!

This game is great! I'm using a dual g4 with plenty of ram and have never had any problems running it. It has all the fun of earlier RCTs plus the added excitement of 3D and other great new features when you want it. I would recomment this game to any who have the system requirements to play. The only downfall is how addicting it can be.

I'm running this game on a new imac with an intel processor and it's so slow and closes by itself, I am so disappointed and what a waste of 50$ dollars.

Can't kill people?
Written by GP from Miami Springs
Mar 3, 2006
The only dissapointments I have with this game are that the people don't always ride your rides and they just loiter around the majority of the time. Also, being slightly sadistic as I can be, you don't get to kill the people with roller coasters that lead to nowhere or into the middle of a lake. In RCT 1 &2 I would always enjoy when the disclaimer on the bottom would beep at you saying your roller coaster blew up or guest so and so has drowned. In RCT 3, the roller coaster will blow up and yet the people magically jump off the ride and float back down to safety. So I just decided to build enormous plateaus, pick people up, place them on top and watch their confusion. But besides these factors it's a pretty cool game.

Ive been playing this one and its the best. The only thing about it is, when you first play this game after playing the origenal RollerCoaster Tycoon2 it makes you a little sick with all the 3D but goes away fast

Entertaining but buggy
Written by MW from Warwick
Jan 29, 2006
The game would be absolutely fun and entertaining if it wasn't for its buggy behavior. After playing for a week it stopped loading on startup. Created a new user and installed there and it plays again but it crashes every 10 to 20 minutes. I have a dual 1.8Ghz with 1gb ram so there's plenty of hardware here. Hope mfg creates a bug fix.

RollerCoaster Tycoon 3
Totally addicting, small learning curve, processor hog
Written by RG from Cumming
Jan 9, 2006
I had the original RCT for PC. Consider that the tricycle, and RCT 3 the race car. A magificent leap forward without losing the joy at the heart of this series. However, it's not without its occasional flat tire...
After you get over the learning curve - which is high if you're using a laptop (no extended keyboard) and a single click mouse - the game is utterly addictive. It challenges both sides of your brain: create the perfect park and still run it wisely. Very fun while still challenging.
The program seems to overtake OSX, meaning it automatically changes your display settings and you cannot switch to another application. Very annoying - goodby multi-tasking. Consequently, there is no clock, battery indicator, drop down menus, etc. The lack of clock, while very frustrating, is a stroke of marketing genius. Just like a casino or supermarket, you lose track of time and keep playing for hours at a time.
CPU HOG: The game is so intricate that it swallows your CPU resources. In fact, it uses so much processing power that my new 1.67Ghz Powerbook with 2GB of RAM seems sluggish for the task and runs red-hot. Seriously - it nearly burned me. It will drain the battery in about 20 minutes or less. Not a great game away from a power outlet.
I thought the Reccomended Computer Specifications for the game were unrealistically high - until I played it! Don't go near this game with an older, slower computer. You need at least a top-of-the-line Powerbook with max RAM to run the game with any satisfaction, and a fast G5 to really enjoy its potential.
In all, if you've got the hardware and the time, you'll love it. Anything less: beware!21 of 28 people found this useful

Good, but a tad late
Written by JM from Charlotte

It is great playing this game on my powerbook after enjoying the previous enstallment in the series on a PC. There seem to be no glitches so far, except it can become a bit slow when your park becomes rather large. Compared to the previous version, I would say that there is definitely an overall improvement with gameplay with a few exceptions--
-The terrain is a bit funky sometimes with the new 3d graphics.
-Path construction is a real pain (especailly with the weird terrain).
-and, You cannot have rides, paths, or anything go underground.
These are the only things that bug me with the new version. Otherwise, I like it alot. However, it is funny seeing this as a game that has been out for PC for a while, and I feel like I am getting incredibly ripped off paying $50 for it. But, if you like the series and Macs, buy it.

Beware of buying this Item
Written by KL from Pasadena

Ok. Let me start by saying this game looks awesome and could be awesome. I, however, have had nothing but annoying glitches and crashes. I am running a brand new iMac 20 inch with 1.5gb of ram. I don't know if it is an issue with Aspyr or with the video card apple chooses to use, but this is ridiculous. I would wait until the bugs are fixed. If the game worked smoothly, I would give it five stars. Unfortunately, it is impossible to play the game for more than twenty minutes. Save your game often!!!

VERY disappointing!
Written by MB from Englewood

I have never, in all my years of computing, been this let down by a game. I was an avid RCT 1 & 2 player when i owned a PC. I bought my iMac G5 4 months ago, and was thrilled to recently hear that the new RTC3 would be put out for mac. I bought it TONIGHT, and after fooling around with it for about three hours, i have these three words...DO NOT PURCHASE! It has crashed twice, and when it stays working it feels like I'm running it on a computer from the stone-age. I'm sick to my stomach. $50 lost! I have a brand new Mac that WELL, and i mean WELL exceeds the requirements to run the game, yet it is unplayable. Do NOT take your chances!

Great Game- Hilarious Cheats
Written by NT from Charlotte

Awesome Game. Cool rides, but even better- try naming one of the park guests "James Hunt". This will enable a buggy (car-like vehicle) to fall from the sky in which you can ride in (via coaster cam). Also name a guest "Make Me Sick". This makes everybody instantly stop- and hurl. Experiment with this, it's loads of fun.

I purchased this game the day it was released and have been playing it for the past few weeks now... my only complaint is that the game can run slow at times. I have the newest powerbook with the 1.67 processor and 1 gig of memory... and after about 30min of play the game starts to run slow... great game though!

What a game!!

This game is much better than the previous version of RCT. The 3D graphics are amazing on my ibook. It can run a bit slow sometimes, but my RAM and Hard Drive are loaded with music. So overall no complaints with the performance and graphics.
The price seemed a bit steep at first, but it is worth it after playing it for a while now.
Go out and get this game, it is loads of fun.17 of 21 people found this useful

Good game.. Bad when broken
Written by EV from Palo Alto

I bought this game today at the local apple store. When I brought it home and installed it, it worked fine, and I enjoyed the game. But when I attempted to play it for the second time, it refused to load. I could hear the sounds of the main menu and I could see my cursor, but the rest of the screen was completely black. To be sure of the error, I tried this on my mac mini, and the results were identical.
Whether or not this was because the disk that I recieved was flawed, or something was wrong with both my ibook and my mac mini (both met the system requirements), it didn't work.
I am extremely dissapointed with this, as it was a extremely entertaining game.32 of 56 people found this useful

Amazing but Pricy
Written by FM from Carlisle
Nov 25, 2005
This RCT3 for the Mac is a little pricy but I've been using it on a PC and from what I can see, RCT3 for the Mac will be even better than what it was for the PC (being that Mac is better and all..........) Anyways, it is definitely worth the price, but I'd recommend waiting a few weeks-months to let the price go down for ya's. The 3D IS AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!
