Runs fine on Snow Leopard 10.6; Install Rosetta and Quicktime 7
Written by SM from San Francisco

Just tested on my early 2008 MacPro, 10.6 Leopard, Nvidia 8800GT graphics card. Game seems to run fine, all functionality intact, no issues observed. I suspect older games like this may not work correctly, as previous poster described, if you don't install Rosetta and Quicktime 7 along with Snow Leopard (they're options in the Snow Leopard Installer). If you forget to install them, view the Read Me on the Snow Leopard DVD for how to go back and install these "Optional" items as one-offs. After that the game should run fine, as I had no issues loading prior cities or creating new ones and adding zones, roads, utilities, etc.

Will not work With Snow Leopard
Written by CR from Haines City

Do not purchase this game if you intend on running 10.6 Snow Leopard.
Sad say that after years of the hard work I put into it and all the Successful Cities I created, it was a punch in the face when it wouldn't work anymore when I loaded in Snow Leopard.
The EA & Sim City Intros work but once you get to the section where the terrains are shown. the Sim City Logo stay stuck over the view and the computer just hangs. I think I will load up all my progress to my Mac Mini or iBook becuase I love this game. I will also try it will loading the Game from my Mac Mini and play it on my iMac via File Sharing wirelessly which was possible when all my macs had 10.5 Leopard.
Maybe apple will make updates so older software can work.13 of 15 people found this useful

I am delighted!

After I had ordered this game, I read a review that said it probably wouldn't run on Macs with Intel Core Duo processors. I have a Mac Mini with a 1.83 GHz Intel Core Duo processor and the game seems to work fine. Other reviews have mentioned that the game runs slow on Macs. It does, but the last time I played Sim City, it was Sim City 3000 on an old Pentium II processor. This runs much better than that so far . . . :-)
So, I am delighted to say that this game works with the Intel Core Duo Processors and I am off and running.91 of 163 people found this useful

An Excellent Game, But Needs Good Memory
Written by DC

Sim city is really a great, addicting game. I run it at home on my PC, works very nice there. Then I sync the cities to my Mac Book, It's really nice to have that kind of flexibility. But I'd say if you really want to play this game, your going to need the 2GB of RAM. This game really eats it up.
On the side, there are billions of plug-ins and add-ons for this game, and it's really only half the fun without them.

Awesome game, needs a little work though

I love SimCity. I've been an addict of the game since the first version on my 286 pc in the 90s. I was excited to find this game available for the mac, and love playing it. It did, however, take some work to make it playable. First off, to use the game on a newer powerbook, you have to download a patch from www.aspyr.com to make it compatible with the new graphics cards in the powerbooks. Not a huge issue, but also not addressed anywhere without googling the problem. Additionally, it seems absurd to me that there is no option to play the game solely off the hard drive. Carrying the cd around if i want to play somewhere other than home is a nuissance and seems like a major flaw. The game itself is great, hence the 4 stars, but it needs to be able to be played without the cd in the drive.

one problem
Written by NS from PITTSBURGH

The game is great. The only problem is that I always have to have the CD in the CD-drive to play. Is this a problem with anyone else? It uses up more power in a shorter amount of time and I am not sure whether or not to buy Rush Hour because I am worried that I won't be able to play both at the same time. Any help?

Get Ready for an All Nighter!

This is such a good game, you'll dream of strategies and different ways to build your cities in your head at night and during the day! The only downside... as the game gets going (bigger and better), the game can be quite demanding for graphics. Make sure your computer is pretty heavily fortified with a lot of memory and at least 128MB of Vram before even thinking about buying this game! Other than that, this is a great game and recommend to all who love strategy games like Age of Empires, or even Warcraft. I give it four and a half stars.
