Bang & Olufsen Form 2 Headphones
Open Yourself Up To A Bold New World.
Written by BF from New York

I have spent a number of years in the consumer electronics industry. During that time I've worked in most sectors; from sales of personal electronics, competition car stereo, and high end audiophile products (REL, Sonus, Krell, Meridian, NOT Bose, Yamaha, Sony et al) all the way to running my own Home Theater consulting company. During that time I’ve heard many different sounds and listened to a very diverse collection of music. I carry a reputation for having an excellent ear yet a careful price conscious selection. In my opinion B&O has a certain reputation for beautiful design but generally at the sacrifice of your wallet and frankly your ears. This particular product in no way follows that trend. The Form-2’s light crystalline sound and atmosphere is fantastic from the first second you place them on your head. Of particular note is their incredibly smooth yet life-like mid range response. If you're into vocals or jazz you won't know what hit you! Their bass separation is fabulous, clean, deep and accurate. The complexity of Kelis’s baseline is apparent and felt! Singing above everything is a finely detailed treble sector – high hats shimmer and resonant tones are audible. A notable benefit is that these headphones are very efficient thus unlike most Sony’s or other larger headphones in this price range are able to get quite a high level of volume out of an iPod and, unlike the standard iPod ear bud headphones, they can actually handle and sustain that volume. In terms of comfort they are okay. They are light, and effectively encapsulate the user in sound, but are a little tight on my head. My co-worker tried them on however, and I nearly didn’t get them back. For $100 bucks overall, they are a really fantastic value and will open up a new world of musical enjoyment to all iPod users.

For $100, Very Pleased

I love these. I took a chance buying the Form 2 because there are limited reviews, due to how rare these are. I am listening to Agualung right now and these headphones bring out another demension, not herd in my Sennheiser PXC150. Bass is good but not amazing, because they are not closed ear. They look and feel great, very clean look. Only two negatives. One, is that others will enjoy your music at high volumes. Two, the cord is long and had buy the Sumajin Smartwrap to fix the problem.

Good home/office headphone

For different reasons I purchased Bose QC2, Bose QC3, Ultimate Ears super.fi 5 Pro, B&O Form 2, Bose In Ear, V-Moda vibe. (in that order)
I ranked it with comment. This is just my personal opinion.
1. Ultimate Ears super.fi 5 Pro (+ best sound, comfort, base, fit, noise cancelling via tight seal; - hard to carry, fragile, rubbing noise when you run wit it) *If I can only own one this is it.
2. Bose QC3 (+great noise cancelling, sound quality, base; -gets hot around ear, weak battery life, need to carry a charger)
3. B&O A8 (+ clear sound, gorgeous form, comfort, durability, craftmanship; -ok base, no noise cancelling)
4. Bose QC2 (+same great bose sound quality, base: - ear gets REALLY hot, big and ugly design - I feel like a dork when I wear it)
5. Bose In ear (+adequate sound step up from apple, comfortable, convenient placement; -weak base)
6. B&O form 2 (+BO sound quality, decent base, style; - not very comfortable, not somthing you want to use it outside, not made for noise cancelling)
7. V-Moda vibe (+cheap; -not refined sound, gastly distorted base, ill fit in ears, waste of money, save money and keep the apple headphone)319 of 504 people found this useful

FORM 2
Written by JM from BROBY
Nov 7, 2007
First of all I must say that I'm pretty familiar to B&O's products.
I Bought their A8 earphones about two years ago, and I've been using them almost every day since then and they are still producing the same sound quality since day one.
Five out of five stars!
About two months ago I bought a pair of FORM 2, and i must say that the weight of these surprised me since it was a way lower than expected.
The quality of sound is as usual amazing. I listen to a lot of classical music and jazz, and almost everything except techno. And There is still nothing to complain about. The sound is so pure and the bass is also very clean.
What you would expect from the great peoples at Bang & Olufsen.78 of 114 people found this useful

Give me a break
Written by TL from Fairbanks
Jul 29, 2007
Bought these at an Apple Store while visiting my youngest in NYC. Prior to purchase I listened to ALL of the demo headsets and the B/O's IMHO give the 'most bang for your buck' (pun intended). I am able to hear tones and words on old favorites, that I haven't heard in years except on the highest quality home systems. I'll let others with more expertise address the techno-quality of this headset...but I would like to address some of the other issues raised by reviewers. Length of cord: Give me a break idiot...shorten it! If you are uncomfortable with a wire cutter and soldering iron, use a 'smartwrap', wire twist tie, rubber band or piece of tape...geeze...to condemn a headset because of the cord is like condemning a pair of shoes because of the length of the laces! Some have objected to the 'open' nature of the ear pcs..I prefer this style as I am able to hear other noises around me while 'out and about' that are often blocked by 'full-cup' headsets. (might add that it was in the mid 80's while in NYC and these are a lot more comfortable in hot wx)

Bang & Olufsen Form 2 Headphones
great for my ipod touch
Written by EM from Vienna

The guy at the apple store basically did not want to go get it for me when I asked for it because he said it was not selling because of poor sound quality. He said he could get it for me but I would have to buy it first. I did not think it could be that bad. So i decided to go to the Bang and Olufsen store. There I tried it out, one that has been broken in, and it was awesome. I played with the ipod's equalizer a little and got it just right. The new ones I have dont sound quite as good as the demo version but I expect them to after 30 hours (recommended time by the B&O guy). 3 yr warranty is great and sound leaks but its supposed to as they are semi-open headphones. It doesnt really leak until 2/3 volume. Comfy fit. Good bass, solid construction, love the sound, its my style. I listen to The Beatles, Alicia Keys, Linkin Park, basically everything and it all sounds solid. I had a pair of $100 sony in ear phones which i thought were great but these are just a little better

Bang & Olufsen Form 2 Headphones
These will amaze you
Written by MF from Halifax

These are the headphones to get if you love music and wear glasses. Personally, I find on-ear headphones uncomfortable after about 20 minutes, but these are great for extended use. I found them to be especially comfortable once I adjusted the swivelling ear pieces just right. These are semi-open so people near you will hear what you are listening to. However, the subtleties that you will hear as soon as you put these on will blow you away. They aren't very good for blocking out noise, wore them on a fairly short flight a couple of weeks ago and had to turn up the volume quite a bit more than with the closed model I used on the previous flight. If I were a frequent flyer, I'd probably rate them less, but then again, I would invest in a set of noise-cancelling headphones.

Simply Fantastic.
Written by RL from Kihei

Just got these and I must say that they are superbly comfortable, very adjustable and the best $100 I've ever spent on a headset/headphones. The depth of the sound is stunning for headphones. Also, it should be noted that the product has changed recently (and since older reviews on here) and the cable is no longer "super long" and really is the perfect length for use with a laptop or an iPod. You will LOVE THESE!

Im so happy with my purchase! Ok, I dont know if it is just my BO headphones or are the new ones have short cable? People were complaining for a super long cord the headphone has but mine is quite short, just like my apple's earphone. Overall, it's an excellent headphones.

Light weight enough for walking
Written by LS from Warren
Apr 27, 2008
While I'm not a high-power walker, I do my fair share of fast walking. These headphones are light-weight and much more comfortable than ear buds. I wouldn't use them for jogging; but they are acceptable for low impact workouts. I have a small head, so I don't have the fit problems some others may have. And, yes the cord is very long...takes up lots of pocket space when you're moving around with your ipod. Also, if you're using the headphones while lounging in the sun, the metal strap on the top of your head gets hot from the sun. As for the sound quality, it has a good clear bass level and is very acceptable for people who enjoy everyday basic music.

Blew me away!
Written by JL from Hot Springs

I've been an audiophile for life, once I heard the quality of these headphones, I must say that the Bang & Olufsen sound quality is just what it is, Quality! People on here are complaining about the bass, the thing about B&O, the reproduced sound is the sound that was meant to be heard, no overkill, no undertone. I rate this a 5 star, if I could I would put a hundred. Mix B&O with a Mac and or iPod, you can't go wrong. Design, form and function! Enjoy this work of art!

Great headphone for under $150

I bought these headphones with a mac wich was stolen within a couple days of me recieving it. i still have the form 2s though. they are the best head phone i've ever owned. i used them for a whole season of snowboarding in bc and they fit perfectly over my fitted hats. i get the cord caught on stuff all the time and i dont see any signs of wear. my dog chewed them once and i simply tightened the screws and they are like new. i had wesc headphones and sony dj700s and i love the open ear style. they can handle max volume on my ipod yet i never need it. i will buy another set as soon as these get stolen.

Superb!!
Written by VP from Salt Lake City

I have had A8 earphones since 2002 and I just bought these Form 2 headphones couple months ago. I didn't really want to buy them but once I tried them on, I suddenly felt the tempting feeling that urged me to buy them! I felt like if I didn't buy them, I'd die! The quality of the sound was soooooooooooooooooooooo much better than A8!! Like black and white! I'm not saying A8 is not good but I prefer Form 2. I think it depends on favour of each listerner. Form 2 can provide more base sound than A8. A8's sound is too clear and I prefer more base. Plus, it's much cheaper too! Only 1 con is they're not so convenient to carry around like A8.

I bought these mainly because they were the only headphones with good design and was surprised by the quality of the sound (even the bass is good) and how light and comfortable they are (though like a new pair of shoes, they need to be stretched a bit). They're thinner than most headphones and fit nicely in my laptop bag.

Bang & Olufsen Form 2 Headphones
3 Years and Counting
Written by LH from Bozeman
Jan 13, 2009
I purchased these headphones over 3 years ago from the Apple store in New York. After the break in period of 20-30 hours the sound got even better then heard in the store. Mine have the extra long cable, which I find nice as I often listen to them at work and the long cable affords me the ability to move around my desk while plugged into my MacBook. Lightweight construction makes them very nice to wear and they seem very durable. They can pinch your head if you listen to them for a extended time period (5 hours +). Good sound quality, and a great price.

Best Value!
Written by TT from Los Gatos

I bought these to use at home, inside and outside, with my stereo and my iPhone.
Quite simply: they are the best value. They are light, very comfortable, and have such clear sound that my happiness runneth over. Older reviews refer to an 9 ft cable.....my more recent purchase came with a 4 ft cable.

i've finally found the one!
Written by OL from Trois-Rivieres

sorry for my bad english i live in Quebec so i speak french ;)
I'va found the best for the price headphones...!
And imagine what..they shortened the cord to about 4 feet...what a surprise...i was looking for the rest of the cord, thinking they gave me some "used" phones...lol
and for the sound...it's really good, i hear sound i never heard before, even with a Onkyo home theatre system with infinity speakers.
The soundstage is verry good, the basse are there but not invading, the mids are well defined and the high...do i need to say something about the high? ;)
in the end, if you're looking for the best quality headphones around 129$ (the price in canadian) 100$ US. don't look any further, you've found it!
(i give them a 4 because i was waiting for headphones with long cord 'cause i was looking to buy the A8's for the walk/bus thing...too bad i'll use them until a received my A8...)

Bang & Olufsen Form 2 Headphones
Superb
Written by JC from Toronto
Mar 11, 2008
I tried this out, along with the BOSE quiet comfort and On-ear models. The quiet comfort added pressure to my eardrums and it felt really weird. I also heard a lot of white noise which I did not like at all. The BOSE on ears were pretty good except they picked up the bass drum a lot better than the actual bass which made it difficult to listen to.
BOTTOM LINE: If all the BOSEs were the same price as the Form 2s, I'd choose the Form 2s. Also, the chord length is now normal length. They must have updated all models. That seems to be the only thing people are complaining about here.55 of 95 people found this useful

Bang & Olufsen Form 2 Headphones
Good sound, not a good overall package
Written by GS from New York
Jan 13, 2006
Well, I will agree with the reviewers who had nothing but praise for the sound quality from these headphones. On sound quality this product deserves four or five stars. The headphones are also very stylish-looking and lightweight, and they seem durable.
But that's about all that's good about them. They are uncomfortable: My head is moderately-sized, but I couldn't adjust the size enough to wear them comfortably. The earpieces press against the ears. Moreover, the cord is about seven or eight feet long. If you don't need that much cord and don't want it to get tangled, you have to roll it up -- which is unattractive and adds an annoying mass at the middle of the cord.
The description says that "you can enjoy loud music without anyone else listening in." In fact, I found the opposite to be true. I played a few songs at moderate volumes, took the headphones off, and pressed my hands against the insides of the earpieces. Even then, a LOT of sound leaked out, to the point that one could easily understand the words of the songs. Even my old cheap Sony headphones are better in this way.
My recommendation is to look further. This product may have very good sound quality, but in practically every other way it just doesn't do the things that a good set of headphones should.20 of 25 people found this useful
