Uncomfortable
Written by RH from Nashville
Jan 4, 2008
Lot of style but unfortunately very uncomfortable against the ears after about 10 minutes. The metal band puts too much pressure on the ears. I returned mine the next day.

b&o make great products but these headphones arent ipod friendly...
the cord is INSANELY long... literally you would have to wrap the cord to a huge ball of cord just to make it the length of the default ipod earbuds...
i returned this thing in a hurry, right after opening the box.
i think this was bang & olufsens home headphone and they decided to aim it at the ipod market. poor poor choice.
save yourself 99 bucks.

Looks great, sounds terrible
Written by SG from Oklahoma City
Sep 26, 2006
I'm no audiophile ("oh, listen to those lovely woodwinds!"), but I do know when something sounds good, and these just don't. I bought these based on the brand and great looks to replace my Koss Portapros (ugly, 80s design... half price... sound wonderful) but they don't live up to the price. I honestly would have been unhappy with the sound even if they were $10 -- they're that bad. My iPod headphones have better sound. Also, unless I have a gigantic head and didn't know it, these are pretty small and tight. Not recommended!

Don't Waste Your Money...
Written by MM from Flushing

(1) Extremely uncomfortable (although this is admittedly a purely subjective observation) (2) Reproduction that is blurry around the edges and annoyingly ambiguous throughout (3) Solid headpiece, but speakers and cables are mechanically flimsy (4) Cable is much too short for flexibility and comfortuseless if you want to use with your MacBook (5) B&O technical assistance and customer service is courteous, but (like the sound reproduction) annoyingly ambiguous. Nothing can ever be resolved. I returned mine to Apple and bought the Sennheiser HD595. The B&O A8s are not any better, unless one is accustomed to hearing music played inside a fuel oil storage tank.

Its a luxury good...
Written by US from Ann Arbor
Feb 1, 2007
I just got them in the mail and tried it. Umm..no difference whatsoever to the ipod earplugs. I can admit the fact that its a headturner...only because the passerbys can hear the music as loud as you can. Its a dud and quite honestly I feel duped. It might look sexy in a metrosexual way but it doesnt justify the three digit price tag
dont get me started on the cord...you gotta be kidding me...
Use the phones that just came with the ipod...atleast not these.17 of 42 people found this useful

Let's be honest
Written by KM from Downingtown

If you are buying these for your ipod-don't!-The cord is insanely long and there is no way to conceal the bundle. It looks like you stole a pair of headphones from you dad's old stereo equipment. And as far as sound-maybe I'm going deaf but I cannot tell the difference between these and any other heaphone under $100

what a disappointment
Written by MC from Santa Barbara

What a disappointment. Disappointed in B&O and disappointed in Apple for carrying their product in their online store.
These headphones might look neat but it's just cheap plastic and metal. They hurt your head. They don't sound any better than the free earphones you get on airplanes, and they are already falling apart after about a week.

Bang & Olufsen Form 2 Headphones
Good sound, not a good overall package
Written by GS from New York
Jan 13, 2006
Well, I will agree with the reviewers who had nothing but praise for the sound quality from these headphones. On sound quality this product deserves four or five stars. The headphones are also very stylish-looking and lightweight, and they seem durable.
But that's about all that's good about them. They are uncomfortable: My head is moderately-sized, but I couldn't adjust the size enough to wear them comfortably. The earpieces press against the ears. Moreover, the cord is about seven or eight feet long. If you don't need that much cord and don't want it to get tangled, you have to roll it up -- which is unattractive and adds an annoying mass at the middle of the cord.
The description says that "you can enjoy loud music without anyone else listening in." In fact, I found the opposite to be true. I played a few songs at moderate volumes, took the headphones off, and pressed my hands against the insides of the earpieces. Even then, a LOT of sound leaked out, to the point that one could easily understand the words of the songs. Even my old cheap Sony headphones are better in this way.
My recommendation is to look further. This product may have very good sound quality, but in practically every other way it just doesn't do the things that a good set of headphones should.20 of 25 people found this useful

Form over function
Written by LS from Belmont
Dec 28, 2007
Unfortunately, our local Apple store doesn't allow people to try on headphones in the store or I would never have bought these. I have to flex their metal headband so far to put them on that the ear pieces press uncomfortably hard against my ears. In addition, the metal band is cold against the top of my head (and I have lots of hair!). They are so uncomfortable that I never even plugged them in to test the sound. They're going straight back to the store.

Nice sound, poor design
Written by WJ from Kansas City

I love B&O products, they make amazing beatuiful stereo gear from the highest quality components. Brushed metals, and shiney plastics. So what happened with these headphones? They sound great but they also broke in less than 6 months.
1. The vertical distance of the overhead assembly isn't long enough. If you have a long head they will not cover your ears if you place the yoke over the top of your head.
2. Because you have to flex the earphones at the joint where the metal armiture insterts into the plastic yoke, over time you create stress fractures that will lead to breakage. Mine took 6 months of daily use.
While thy look great and sound good, the bottom line is unless you have a small head, and can take them off with out flexing any part of the black plastic over head yoke, these guys are going to break. At this price point they need to re examine the quality of materials and the overall form factor of the product.24 of 38 people found this useful

Overpriced!
Written by DM
Nov 9, 2005
I was yearning to own a good-sounding set of headphones for a very long time. I've went through 2 or 3 lightweight sony headphones that were valued around thirty bucks. I've even owned a pair of their $100 DJ headphones (which were decent). I went to B&O and the guy talked me into these. He let me listen to all kinds of classical tracks, in which these truly have decent sound. When I brought these home and plugged into some rock, they were no better than my old light weight headphones from sony in mids and base. Buy cheap sony's if you need light wieght. For sound quality I recommend Grado SR80's for $95. Trust me on this one...

Very big and cumbersome. Overpriced.

I was going to step up to these headphones and was not pleased. They were too big and the sound quality was not as big of a difference from the Apple supplied earbuds as I had hoped. I sent them back.

Work Okay, but Cord is Too Long!
Written by KE from BROOKLYN
May 12, 2008
The audio on these is average - about what'd I'd expect from typical over-ear headphones; very similar to the kind of headphones that came with portable tape players back in the day. However, I really wish I'd checked the length of the cord on these before I bought them. It's EXTREMELY long. When I took them to work, I'd get it all tangled around my chair. Throw them in my purse, and I'd be wrestling with a mass of cord whenever I opened it. I ended up giving them away. Who needs a cord that long? There's just no good reason for it!

Bang & Olufsen Form 2 Headphones
poor selection
Written by JF from Salt Lake City
Oct 20, 2007
I was sadly unimpressed with these. I was looking for a open or semi-open headphone, Bang & Olufsen is a name that is familiar to most. I found the speakers tinny on the high end and lacking the warm and smooth sound B & O is known for specifically the real sound of guitar strings being played, maybe I got a bad pair. After reveiwing the selection at my local store I think Apple is pandering to those who know names but not quality, just look at the fact they are selling Nike headphones, come on apple get it together. Since the selection at my local store was so lacking I bit the bullet and ordered Grados. I'm giving them 3 stars since the company has been good in the past.

VERY clear, VERY comfortable....
Written by SS from Tucker

but a little flimsy feeling for $99, and the bass response isn't as good as it could be.
still, these are very clear sounding, open and full headphones that will certainly give you better sound quality than your average headphones, but with less bass respose than most people would probably like.6 of 8 people found this useful

oh so close
Written by HB from New York
Feb 25, 2006
Great feel, great look, but ultimately the sound is not materially better than the standard I-pod headphones. I really liked just about everything about these headphones. The were comfortable, looked cool with their sleek looks and B&O emblem. I initially thought the difference might be the limited power of the I-pod amp but with the handy standard headphone jack adapter I tried them and the stock I-pod headphones with my Rotel home system. Both sounded equally better but I couldn't tell the difference. I am a B&O fan and have a 1970s vintage system that I love but the truth is I couldn't justify the additional cost for these.

Bang & Olufsen Form 2 Headphones
great design, unsatisfactory quality
Written by MS from Newington
Jan 6, 2006
These are supposed to be portable headphones. When you buy portable headphones, do not invest in an open-air set. A sales rep told me that this is supposed to provide great clearity with matching bass. What the rep did not say is that in order to obtain the decent quality, you also have to play at high volumes. A volume level at which your neighbors next to on the bus ride will hear. The bass isn't the best either. The volume control is unsatisfactory. The design is unique but quality is sub-par. For the price tag, you're better off getting a pair of grados.

Style over Substance
Written by ES from Sacramento

Like the ladies that wear summertime clothes in the winter just to look good at the club. . . In all honesty the B&O A8's has a very unique sleek mod design. If your aim is to turn some heads these will do it. As for the sound quality... I could blabber on and on about "bass response, highs, mids, and yadi-dadi." I won't do that because these are not in that echelon of earphones. These are basic earphones for the casual listener, to put it plain and simple I give em a 7.5 out of 10 for sound quality. They are very light and are comfortatble enough to wear for extended durations. The cord is very long, this is because they are intended for home use (plugging into your TV and sitting back on your couch) the Sumajin Cord Wrap is an ideal solution or use the twisty tie from your loaf of bread. I almost gave em 4 stars if I didn't know that there are earphones that sound significantly better for less than half the price. but then again you wouldn't "look" as cool.
