    For MacBook Users

Written by RB from Van Nuys

Alright. I bought "The Sims 2" on a whim a/b a month ago. I was bored w/ some downtime. I don't usually play computer games, but you know. I have a 13inch MacBook that I installed it on. I carefully read all the reviews on the game and most of them said that it ran pretty slowly with the notebooks. I figured I would take the chance. At first yes it did run very slowly. It was an extremly fun game, but the freezing was rather annoying. I changed the graphics to the lowest possible setting(by the way, it didn't really affect the look of the game either)and the game ran fine. When Sims were changing clothes was really the only time I would have a delay of maybe 1/2 a second. It worked great for me!!!

As for the game: The game is really fun. It passes the time and it has a lot of ins and outs that you can play with. I'm happy with the purchase. I have a lot of fun with it.

    AMAZING GAME BUT>>>>

Although I adore the Sims 2 and have all of the expansion packs for the original Sims, I was very disappionted with the RAM and memory needed for Sims 2!!! If you have a slow computer (and I say from experience) you will have no hope to download Sims 2. I am currently trying to find another way to get the Sims 2, as it IS an amazing game.
For example, I love how you can utterly control someone else's life! The new ideas of grocery stores, twins, different age groups, new careers, new food, new objects, aspirations and growing up is remarkable! To someone who has never played the original Sims, this will sound insane, but believe me Aspyr did a good job!!!!
If you are still doubtful about whether or not to buy this GREAT game, consider this: You have unlimited possibilities. Unlike the Sims, in Sims 2 you can have generations upon generations of families! The fun just keeps going!!!!
So, if your computer is fast enough and you have a sense of humour, buy this game. You won't regret it!!!!!!!!!!! :D

    Good Enough

I recently went on vacation to see my family in the LA area of California. While there I stopped by an Apple store and picked up a copy of the sims 2 hoping it would work with my new intel MacBook. I am happy to report that yes the sims 2 runs smooth enough on my mac even without being a universal binary. my machine sports 512mb's of ram, and I'm sure when I upgrade to more later, it will run much much better. So, go ahead any just buy a copy if you have an intel machine, works good enough.

    Works Well on a MacBook

Written by CH from Saint Louis

I loved this game on my Windows computer, but then I switched to a MacBook and read a lot of reviews saying that the game didnt run well on MacBooks because it didnt have the right video card. Not true on my MacBook. In my opinion, it runs better on my MacBook than it did on my old Windows computer. It doesnt freeze or stall or randomly shut down after a couple of hours. I have been playing it almost non-stop for the last 3 days and I am SO HAPPY that I bought it... DONT LET THOSE OTHER REVIEWS SCARE YOU OFF... as long as you download the universal patch from aspyr's website, it runs perfectly and they can fix any problems that occur- and that is straight from aspyr's customer support team.

I recently bought an imac 20 inch and have always loved playing Sims. I bought Sims2 for the mac and WOW, and MORE WOW. Now I know now how this game is meant to be played - the game is amazingly real and easy. I have all the game settings on the highest graphics and it works beautifully. I love Sims2 for mac, I will probably never, ever play another game on my old dell pc. I love the imac and I love the Sims2, it is a 100% better than on my old pc. It is a must have game is you love role playing - don't waste another minute without Sims2!

Since I played the sims 1, it is very addictive!
Compared to the sims 1, the sims 2 is far more interesting upon the fact that it has better graphics, more life stage details, and of course great expansion packs.
The sims 2 also more challenging than the sims 1 because it has wants and aspiration.
The sims 2 is the only game which worth your money!

I have the white macbook with 2Ghz processor (i honestly don't know what that means just trying to give information) and I have the first generation macbook. I bought the sims 2 when I bought my computer and have been playing it weekly ever since. I love it.

    Old Sims Made New

Written by DD from Brown Deer

Having played the original version from the very first days on a PC and then the Complete Sims on a Mac, I was very reluctant to buy a new version no matter how much it had advanced. But a 2.8ghz MBPro has the speed and graphics oomph, so ... Let me say that WOW! is an understatement. Nothing jerks anymore, even at the highest resolution with all effects maxxed. Buildings are no longer limited to two stories, and like Sim City, there's an actual night. Sim interaction is literally just like the trailers for Sims 2 add-ons -- those ARE NOT in-game cinematics -- with the usual thought bubbles, learning bars, and emotion pips above their heads. This is certainly the game to get if you couldn't stop playing the original.

runs SUPRISINGLY well on my Powerbook

After spending 80% of my freshman year of college playing the original sims (on a pc - hadn't seen the light yet) I was extremely excited to see the sims 2 come out for mac! the graphics are amazing, and the ability for many more random events is phenominal. I love the fact that interpersonal relations is much more advanced, and I love the fact that they grow up, learn, live, love, and die. makes you want to accomplish as much as you can in the time you have (art imitating life, or life imitating art?)
Running it on a PB 15" 1.25ghz/512mb/80gb/64MB VRAM. Runs suprisingly well, considering how close it is to the system requirements. you will enjoy this game!!!

We have 2GHz intel core 2 duo imac with osx version 10.4.10. The game works good. the only problem, which isn't a problem if your sims are in the area, is that when you are buying or decorating the lot will turn blue. When this happens you just adjust the view, or bring 1 of your sims into the area and all is well. The kids love to play, and so do the adults. A great game!

    Great Game

The game is best game of all time! And to the person on the top of page seven, babies do not fall from the sky in the game! Its different than the first sims. Your sim will get pregnant (and morning sickness will happen) and the sims bellies will grow. No babies come from the sky! And the sims are very smarter than you think, obvisoly smarter than you so why don't you actually play the game and give people a good review.

    no probs for my macbook

I just got the Sims 2 for Christmas and the box said it was Universal and system requirements included "Intel chipset." I don't know if this is a recent development or not, but I played for about 4 hours and didn't experience any of the problems that people have reported on the MacBook like distorted faces, freezing, or cutting off. Overall a great game so far! I'm already addicted.

This game is AMAZING! The graphics are the best ever and tin sims two you can have generations of family members that grow up! The people can show amazing emotions and have numerous outfits to choose from. Unlike Sims in Sims 2 no matter what wall color or wallpaper you use one of the pieces of furniture will match it. So heres to Sims 2!

    Addictive

    Written by CW

    Dec 7, 2006

This has to be the most addictive game I've ever played. I had to quit cold turkey though, because my current computer is crazy slow and has a tiny hard drive.

It's much more customizable than the original Sims. You could make your Sim look like anybody you wanted. I'd go online and download expansions like new skin tones, hair styles, different make up, and clothing, and hold up a picture of pretty much anyone and make their Sim clone. The body type isn't as customizable as I'd like, but you can download those from Sim fansites, too, if you really want. The face, however, is very, very customizable and you can tweak everything from the smallest details on the shape of the eyebrows to height and severity of cheek bones, to mouth shape.

The game is a graphic artist's dream because of its customizability. With a little instruction, anybody who knows how to use a good graphics editing program can create a new "skin" for their Sims, which means different clothes, makeup, etc, or wall and floor patterns. And anyone who can operate a 3D program as well can further customize the shape of the clothing and even create furniture.

The Sims 2 really offers an interesting life simulation with its incredible customization capabilities for the visual environment while offering, in relation to real life, few options for social interaction or actions in general. You can't, for example, as SimYou, decide to break all the lamps in your house or say or do just anything to your neighbors or housemates. It may just make you think about the excess in our lives today in that visual department and see why The Sims is so, perhaps eerily appealing: you look however you want, you can cheat your money into high figures- heck, you could even use sketchy programs from online to tweak your relationship stats with other Sims! You can choose to make it anything you want.
