I Love The Sims 2 However....
Written by NH from Goose Creek
May 23, 2009
I use to have the Sims 2 on a PC however I came over and purcahsed the IMAC, which I LOVE LOVE LOVE!! SIms 2 started off working fine, very addictive. The only issue I have found thus far, and I have had it for my IMAC for only a week is the Dart Board. It worked fine initially however the last two times I logged in to play it, I click on the Dart Board for them to play and they go stand next to it and just look at the board...I even went in to try to delete the board and add it again to the house and it will not allow me to delete. It states, Cannot delete object in use....checked the people and no one in the house is using it or anything. Frustrating but I love the rest of the game. I am taking it back to Best Buy to get a replacement copy, to see if it is just a problem w/ that copy. Ready for Sims 3 to come out, how exciting!!!

The Sims 2
A very fun game that performs well
Written by WR from Bradenton

This game is surprisingly fun and addicting! It's performance is great-it will never crash or freeze and the graphics are great (as long as you select the correct options, which are not the defaults). My only negative comment is that after talking to a few of my friends, I realized that there are a few minor glitches in this game that do not exist in the PC version, but they will not get in the way too badly.

Very Creative
Written by CB from Jonen

The thing I like most about playing the Sims 2 game is the creative possibilities. I love putting together the people and would enjoy even more diversity here - for example more weight and age variations. I also love choosing and decorating the houses. I can spend hours on that.
Wish your guide book would include more cheats.
Otherwise I really enjoy playing this game.108 of 194 people found this useful

Not Bad
Written by ML from Oakland Gardens

I have been playing the Sims 2 on my Macbook Pro for the last few days and I am quite pleased with how it's going. Although there were a few minor glitches at times (solvable by closing the game & laptop for a couple of minutes), it did not subtract from the gaming experience. Aspyr has also updated its universal binary patch recently, but I have tried playing the game without the patch and it was fine.
All in all, Sims 2 worked great on my Macbook Pro.32 of 54 people found this useful

intel core *2* duo?
Written by CG from Conroe

i just bought the updated macbook pro, and bought this game. the game would run great, and fast, but after about 10minutes of game play, the game would crash.
after talking to the geniuses we determind that the "universal update" on the sims 2 only supports intel core duo, but not intel core 2 duo.
i run the game on my mac mini right now, and it runs fine, its a great game15 of 30 people found this useful

Not for the MacBook
Written by CF
Dec 29, 2006
This is a great game when played on any PC or iMac or Mac Pro, but if you buy this on the MacBook or MacBook pro it'll be your money down the drain. I bought the sims 2 on my MacBook and it ran horribly and though I turned the graphics to minimum it was still choppy (plus there was freezing!) All together though, it is a fantastic game.

I LOVE the sims 2, but...
Written by JM from Fullerton

I love the sims 2, and on my friends PC it goes SOOO fast and its perfectly smooth. But when I got it for my MacBook, I was disappointed. It is VERY choppy and freezes a lot. Sometimes, the sims 2 even quits on its own. I think its better on PC, alot.

The Sims 2
Addictive
Written by CW
Dec 7, 2006
This has to be the most addictive game I've ever played. I had to quit cold turkey though, because my current computer is crazy slow and has a tiny hard drive.
It's much more customizable than the original Sims. You could make your Sim look like anybody you wanted. I'd go online and download expansions like new skin tones, hair styles, different make up, and clothing, and hold up a picture of pretty much anyone and make their Sim clone. The body type isn't as customizable as I'd like, but you can download those from Sim fansites, too, if you really want. The face, however, is very, very customizable and you can tweak everything from the smallest details on the shape of the eyebrows to height and severity of cheek bones, to mouth shape.
The game is a graphic artist's dream because of its customizability. With a little instruction, anybody who knows how to use a good graphics editing program can create a new "skin" for their Sims, which means different clothes, makeup, etc, or wall and floor patterns. And anyone who can operate a 3D program as well can further customize the shape of the clothing and even create furniture.
The Sims 2 really offers an interesting life simulation with its incredible customization capabilities for the visual environment while offering, in relation to real life, few options for social interaction or actions in general. You can't, for example, as SimYou, decide to break all the lamps in your house or say or do just anything to your neighbors or housemates. It may just make you think about the excess in our lives today in that visual department and see why The Sims is so, perhaps eerily appealing: you look however you want, you can cheat your money into high figures- heck, you could even use sketchy programs from online to tweak your relationship stats with other Sims! You can choose to make it anything you want.56 of 65 people found this useful

The Sims 2
For MacBook Users
Written by RB from Van Nuys
Oct 15, 2006
Alright. I bought "The Sims 2" on a whim a/b a month ago. I was bored w/ some downtime. I don't usually play computer games, but you know. I have a 13inch MacBook that I installed it on. I carefully read all the reviews on the game and most of them said that it ran pretty slowly with the notebooks. I figured I would take the chance. At first yes it did run very slowly. It was an extremly fun game, but the freezing was rather annoying. I changed the graphics to the lowest possible setting(by the way, it didn't really affect the look of the game either)and the game ran fine. When Sims were changing clothes was really the only time I would have a delay of maybe 1/2 a second. It worked great for me!!!
As for the game: The game is really fun. It passes the time and it has a lot of ins and outs that you can play with. I'm happy with the purchase. I have a lot of fun with it.1296 of 1632 people found this useful

Choppy Run
Written by DR from New York
Aug 4, 2006
I agree that the Sims does not run appropriately on Macbook Pro. I thought it was something that I was doing, but I did try to lower all of the settings and still there are certain times when I just know ill have to wait (like when they change for bed, or when too many sims are moving at once). Its frustrating.
Does anyone know if there are other expansions available?26 of 33 people found this useful
