PC Version is way better!
Written by AS from Elmwood Park

There is not a bigger Sims fan than me. I had all of the original sims and I own all of The Sims 2 games and expansion pacs for PC. I recently purchased a Mac and got The Sims 2 as a gift for my mac and the graphics are awful! everything looks fuzzy. Now I find myself using my old PC just to play the sims. I really hope that The Sims 3 for Mac is a lot better.

The Sims2 doesn't work!
Written by LM from Columbus
Sep 23, 2008
I bought The Sims2 when it first came out for the Mac. I have a Power Mac G5. It meets the system requirements. All it does is crash. I have only been able to play it a few times. I call Aspyr and get the same answer. They just tell me to reinstall it and blame my computer. The patches seem to make things worse. I am very upset and I want some answers. It's too expensive to not work. If someone has a suggestion thay I may not have tried yet, please post it. I just want it to work.

No good
Written by SM from Anchorage

I got this game for my Mac because I got a new computer and I have all the sims for PC, so when I got it for Mac I thought it would be great. Its wasn't. This worked well at first, had some minor problems with the picture that I could deal with. But, one day it just quit working. This game no longer works on my Mac. My suggestion is to buy the PC version, partition your hard drive with windows and download it on your mac that way.

Doesn't run on PPC Leopard machines
Written by DS from Fort Collins

This product doesn't run on any of my PPC Leopard systems, even after following the complex, dare I say, windows like instructions from support on how to make it run. Considering that kazilions of parents are letting their kids use their old systems for games I'd say that this is a problem.

Sim's 2 Just Doesn't Work on a Mac Book Pro...
Written by AM from Clayton
Aug 19, 2007
I've sat at my computer now for, a good two days trying my best to get this sim's game to work, but it just wont. it instals. it starts. but it stops 10 seconds later! why cant there just be a simple answer, like, Sim's dont work on mac book pro, or, download this patch to make sims work. Why do these things have to be so frustrating!?! if your looking to buy this game and have a mac book pro, i'd buy it in store and have the apple guys install it.

The Sims 2
not on my macbook pro
Written by JF from Hyde Park
Aug 4, 2007
I had bought this game a few months ago, knowing that I would eventually end up with something more powerful than my G3 iBook. Welp, with my lovely new MacBook Pro on my lap, it turns out that this game won't run on my Intel Core 2 Duo. Mac support was not much of a help at all (though they are usually great), and Aspyr, rather than just sending me a patch, has suggested a ridiculous head-patting-stomach-rubbing set of steps that 'might work.'

Major Disapiontment
Written by DC from Great Falls

I purchased a copy of this game for my 12 inch PowerBook, only to find that the frame rate was about 2 frames per second. My mac met all of the minimum requirements, but the game was about 3 times slower than my PC version of the game. Apparently, the game runs properly on a G5.

"slighty" annoyed
Written by JA from Everett

I don't know what the deal is... freezes on my PB 1.25 with 2 Gigs of Ram, and it's extremely buggy on my G5 to the point where it's not runnable. are the macs in my house just windows-tarded or what. it's probably a quick fix, but i wasn't expecting to have to do troubleshooting right out the box

Buyer Beware!
Written by EL from Waltham

Aspyr has some explaining to do with respect to their ever-changing system requirements. I've seen many citing choppy play and crashes. I've experienced the same. This is sometimes par for the course but c'mon -- isn't it bad enough that there are too few Mac games to begin with and that we must upgrade just to play this long awaited game where Windows users have expansion packs already?
1GHz CPU speed seems to be ok; video cards should be better than what is listed on this site. Major disappointment after waiting so long for a Mac version!!!20 of 43 people found this useful
