The Sims are back!
Written by AP from Suffield

The first time that I heard of The Sims was over my friend's house. We played the very first edition and I thought it was great! But then I got The Sims 2 and the other game seemed like junk! This is a great, fun, and addictive game!

Choppy Run
Written by DR from New York
Aug 4, 2006
I agree that the Sims does not run appropriately on Macbook Pro. I thought it was something that I was doing, but I did try to lower all of the settings and still there are certain times when I just know ill have to wait (like when they change for bed, or when too many sims are moving at once). Its frustrating.
Does anyone know if there are other expansions available?26 of 33 people found this useful

Good Enough
Written by WK from Lakeland
Jul 20, 2006
I recently went on vacation to see my family in the LA area of California. While there I stopped by an Apple store and picked up a copy of the sims 2 hoping it would work with my new intel MacBook. I am happy to report that yes the sims 2 runs smooth enough on my mac even without being a universal binary. my machine sports 512mb's of ram, and I'm sure when I upgrade to more later, it will run much much better. So, go ahead any just buy a copy if you have an intel machine, works good enough.

A+
Written by ES from Westport

I purchased this game a while ago, and ever since I have been playing it almost every single day. This is one of the best games I have ever played, and it has indeed become addicting. Graphics are amazing, however the Sims2 requires a powerful computer in order to work perfectly, otherwise the game will run slower with some minor graphic glitches here and there. This game is great for almost all ages, so join the fun and purchase one for yourself, because you will never find yourself a better game out there, unless of course if a newer version such as a sims3 (?) is released.

Distressing...
Written by BR from Weston
Jun 20, 2006
I've been a long time fan of the Sims series since the original release on the PC. I've followed the franchise for some time now in hopes for a true sequel and not just more expansion. Finally when the Sims 2 came out I was thrilled. It looked amazing on PC but I didn't have a PC capable of running it. When I got my mac Mini for Christmas this year I was extatic in hopes that I would finally be able to run it.
When I bought the game it installed pretty well, no problems. But when the game started running I was a little distraut. I'm running a 1.4 ghz mac mini right now with 512 DDR RAM and 32 VRAM. It runs semi-smoothly, with alot of graphical hicups the more stuff occupies the screen. Understandable...
My friend recently bought a MacBook, the 2.0 GHz model. We recently tried installing it on his laptop and immediately it welcomed us with a prompt that stated the game will not run optimally on our Mac. We were confused... very confused considering the game says it can run on a 1.25 GHz processor and we were rockin' 2.0, not to mention a gig of DDR memory and 64 VRAM. I was upset when the game started running. It ran no better (if worse) than on my mac mini.
I'm not buying a MacBook... I'm buying the original sims, I can't take this... I hope they fix this problem with a patch or something.29 of 46 people found this useful

Good, but..........
Written by SS from Las Vegas

I love the Sims and Sims2. I had about seven of the games for my Toshiba laptop. About four months ago, I had bought the Sims 2 for my INTEL 20 IN. MAC. I put the CD Rom in, and it said I needed 1 GB of free disk space. So I erased some filed and applications I didn't need. I tried again, but the same message appeared. So I called Apple, and they said that it doesn't work for the intel Mac, because it is not a universal application. The next day, my dad and I went to the Apple store to return it. I love the game, but they need it 2 B universal!!!

Disappointed
Written by MQ from Gilbert

I have a 1.83 ghz MacBookPro and I recently bought this game. Apple's website says that this program is optimized for both dual core and power pc. However every time i try to open the program a message comes up saying that this program is optimized for power pc and that my gameplay will suffer. I have 1 GB of ram, a 1.83 ghz dual core processor and a 128 mb graphics card and the game still lags. I have to have the graphics turned all the way down on the game just to be playable. The game is great, I just wish I could actually play it...

This game is great! The addition of the aspiration element really adds a great depth to the game that wasn't in the original. The best improvement, however, is that now your sims age. This game is perfect for people who liked the original but felt that it was a little too shallow or wanted more realism. I also highly recommend the University expansion pack.

The sims 2 has to be one of the best games the world has ever seen. It has stunning features, great graphics and worked awsome on my mac mini g4 (1.42 G4, 512 RAM, ATI Radeon 9200). I would recommend this to any person who loves the sims, or just simulation games in general!
