No good for Imacs
Written by JH from Mason City
Mar 31, 2006
Totally unsat for a 1.8 GHz imac that exceeds minimum requirements in every way. Jerky, poor mouse control - just no good. Does not come close to original single game performance. Loading takes 4-5 times longer than the original single games. Should be taken off the market for Macs. Mine is in the trash and a waste of $60.

disappointing
Written by TE from El Paso

The truth of the matter is that this game still looks like a PlayStation One port, no matter how powerful your Apple is... glitchy and full of slow down. EA has failed to use the capabilities of the systems, and the gameplay is dated, having been completely eclipsed by the Call of Duty series... If you buy a WW II fps, skip this one and go directly to the Call of Duty (you won't be sorry).

Mac version is terrible
Written by PH from Whitehall
Apr 10, 2007
I have an intel-duo iMac and the game runs at such a slow frame rate that it is not worth playing. I have been playing Medal of Honor on a gaming PC for years and would have loved to use my mac to play it too. I will NEVER play this game. I have the PC version of MOH installed on my XP partition on my same iMac and I get outstanding frame rates.
Do not bother with this game if you have an intel machine. I think it works better on a PPC Mac, but still the PC version is better, sorry to say.21 of 43 people found this useful

Bad news kids,
Written by MV from North Scituate

I'd love to know what sort of equipment those two folks who gave this game a 5 star rating were running it on, (and who they work for).
The game runs poorly on my Intel-duo iMac, a computer which substantially exceeds the game's stated requirements.
It jerks and stutters it's way along, even at the lowest possible detail settings, to the point where it's just not entertaining to play.
My copy's going back tomorrow.

For Intel Imacs...not so great
Written by JH from Bainbridge Island
Mar 25, 2006
I have an Intel Imac with a max spec for memory - 2GB of RAM and the 265MB Graphics card. Despite this, I still have instances of laggy and draggy framerates that are simply unacceptable on such a fast machine. Maybe this is a Rosetta issue, in which case other Intel users might want to wait until Aspyr comes out with the "universal" version of this game.
Also, even when the thing's not laaaaaaaagging, some gameplay features are kind of disconcerting...like the Germans who TAPDANCE when you're shooting at them, and-once you've filled them with half a magazine of SMG ammo-COME BACK TO LIFE and start firing at you. And what's up with the Alsatian guard dogs that kill you faster than a grizzly bear in a 'roid rage?!?143 of 304 people found this useful

Very poor graphics
Written by BR from Newburyport
Jul 3, 2009
The game is pretty good, except for the graphics. I have played other games from around 2002 with better graphics, so I assumed they would be better then they are. I would highly recommend Call of Duty 2 over this game. Call of Duty 2 is another WWII first person shooter, but the graphics are so much better and it runs well on a first generation MacBook.

Intel iMac does a swell job with MOH: AA
Written by MM from Monkey Island
Oct 12, 2007
I played the game on my intel imac (OS 10.4.10) from beginning to end with no bugs.
MOH: Breakthrough and Spearhead (both come with warchest) were also excellent.
There is ONE bug that I encountered, that made Spearhead anticlimactic.
-At the end of the game there is a transition between game play and the debriefing movie/ credits. You are fighting with a tank for 2 min before this occurs. The bug appears at the end of 2 min and you get stuck in this 3d map zone of the level you just played. You can see building structures and half of your tank.
All other briefing/ debriefing movies work perfect.
All in all
--------------
MOH: Allied Assault - excellent
Breakthrough - super
Spearhead - satisfying

Runs OK, but a UB version would be welcome
Written by AT from Herent
Apr 30, 2007
Both MOHAA and Spearhead run pretty OK under Rosetta on my 2.33 GHz Core 2 Duo MacBook Pro, with about 30-40fps in the more demanding Spearhead (1440x900 resolution, medium quality settings). This is a huge improvement over the slide show-performance I had on my old G3 iBook (I still don't grasp how I ever finished the game on that machine). I don't have the Breakthrough expansion, so I don't know how well it would run.
I assume this package contains the latest versions, but it still wouldn't hurt to check for updaters (look in the Downloads section of the Apple site), especially if you bought the games separately a while ago like me. Your MOHAA version should at least be 1.14b and Spearhead 2.15b.
With the performance being just 'OK' on a MBP, I suppose Intel Macs with less powerful graphics hardware or processors may not be suitable to play these games, until Aspyr releases a Universal Binary update. This shouldn't be too hard because they already adapted the Quake3 engine which powers these games.
Note: there is a way to enable multiprocessing support, _don't_ do this on Intel Macs! It will reduce performance for some reason, maybe because it interferes with Rosetta (or maybe it's simply broken, there must be a reason why it's disabled by default).
As for the games themselves, they may not be the most groundbreaking concerning game play, but they do focus on realism (all weapons, vehicles and locations are historically accurate). If you want a straight shoot 'em up game, you're better off with Unreal Tournament. The graphics (especially of the original MOHAA) may be a bit dated, but the sound is still excellent.121 of 258 people found this useful

Awesome!
Written by SH from Quebec

This game is so great. You got to have you're own version because otherwise you'll miss something. War Chest includes the original and awesome MOHAA and two expansion pack that you need to try. That's the best war game ever and it works really easily on my Mac. Finally we (Mac owners) can play very good games on our computers too!! With games like this one, you don't need to buy yourself a PC to play great games.

Deserves A Better Rating
Written by RB from LAS VEGAS
Jan 2, 2007
I thought I would post after reading some of these comments. On the three different Macs ranging from 1.8 to 2.1 Ghz, there were no issues.
It's a different game that requires a bit more skill than than Call of Duty, imo, and will likely be replaced by MOH Airborne (assuming Asypr tackles it), but there are still plenty of players online. As for the tech issues, seems possible it is operator error. And no, I don't work for Aspyr, who has done a fine job with conversions.134 of 248 people found this useful

A great historical game
Written by HD from west hills

This game shows not only the reality of the war, but of the necessity for forward thinking that came out of it and began the quest for highly trained special forces. Not to mention... ...the incredible graphics and depth of all out kick-ass action that has become comonplace for aspyr and EA games. My family and I played it so much and each on a different computer at different times, that the disc was finally worn and scratched beyond use. I'm currently waiting for it to show up in the apple stores nearby so I can procure it for myself (forget the family this one is mine). On a slower mac, lower the graphics and sound and go to town. On a newer 2.2ghz or higher, raise the graphics and go for pinpoint accuracy and speed. Don't be fooled by immitations, this is the real deal.
