The graphics are great, even if the game is a few years old. The game play and game mechanics are also very solid. The only complaint I have is that sometimes there aren't a lot of people online, but that's the only bad thing I can think to mention.

Loved Unreal Tournament, but...

I got into playing Unreal Tournament, the first, on PS2 and I freakin loved it and could really get the hang of it. Just the opposite with 2004 because if you're actually into using a gamepad, forget it. I've tried 2 gamepads and numerous controller managers and you can't get a usable freelook. Plus the mouse control just kind of "wigs out" once and a while, with 2 different mouses.
Also I apologize to the fanboys, but lets face it--jumping around constantly isn't very compelling combat. These guys needs either a stamina or matrix-like super-move mechanism because everyone online hops around like bunnies and its pretty silly looking really. Kinda spoils the believability and ability to strategize.
This game is supposed to be a really big deal, but I think it kind of appeals only to particular segment of action gamers that others might not relate to. If its for you, you'll love it, but don't expect anything too immersive or strategic. I won't be buying UT3 until I hear these obvious problems have been fixed, which I haven't yet.124 of 225 people found this useful

I love this game! The action is non-stop. The graphics are great. This is a must have game for Mac gamer.

Just the Best FPS ever made

This 3 year old game is still a looker, and the most pure form of gaming entertainment. Lighting fast gameplay makes other FPS's amost boring in comparision. The gameplay manages to be both twitch and skill based, not just one or the other. An absolute must play, here's hoping to UT2007 for the Mac!

I have enjoyed UT since it first came out way back in the 90's. I think it's got the best engine and best graphics for ANY platform. The capabilities have always exceeded current computing power, so I knew it was "ahead of its time." Well, I got my 2.33Ghz iMac 24, 256Mb GPU, 2GB RAM and UT2004 screams! Full screen, high res graphics with all options at highest settings - Unreal finally has enough computer! Of course I did not get the iMac for the game, but it is the only game on my iMac. Forty dollars is a great price with a free upgrade to Universal for Intel CPUs. What are they going to do in UT2007?

I just love the game. No physics, just carnage. Maybe the most fun game I've ever played at a LAN Party.

I've played this game and many other FPS and it's pretty good. Very smooth gameplay and very good graphics. If you grew up on Doom you will love this game.

With the latest UB patch on the new Mac Pro Quad 2.66GHz with an ATI1900 in it I was averaging 120 Frames per Second.
Even with the initial release of this product being over two years ago there is still a large active online community that can have you playing for hours any given day. Very addictive game play and a blast for a quick if it moves shoot it fix.54 of 91 people found this useful

It's very similar to the first Unreal Tournament which was also a great game. The 2003 version sucked! This game is non-stop shooting and running from start to finish. No thinking, just reacting and shooting as fast as you can. Myself I like the instant action section where you can pretty much customize the game play to what you desire. Awesome game!

Unreal Tournament 2004,is most definetly the best computer game out right now.
There are so many levels,characters,vehicles,and guns that u can choose from.My friends have had the game for about 2 months and still have not played all the levels,gotten all the weapons,or gotten in all the vehicles.I have had the game for only a week,and i can't stop playing it.That is why Unreal Tournament 2004 is the best game out right now!!!!226 of 377 people found this useful

Once you have UT 2k4, be sure to check out the literally thousands and THOUSANDS of expansion maps, characters, gametypes, even total-conversion mods that are like getting a totally new game for FREE, all available for free download off of fansites all over the internet!
Unreal Tournament 2004 is single-handedly responsible for wasting at least a year of my life (over the course of several thousand highly-satisfying gaming sessions ^_^). And I have no regrets.44 of 91 people found this useful

I enjoyed playing it a lot! It's the first game i ever beat! Though you think i may suck, but i dont. The reason why i beat this game because it was actually exciting, and not boring like many other games. I hope you buy this game it's wicked! Its got really cool online play also. Buy it and try it for yourself! The graphics are really good, so it won't hert your eyes when you play it for hours.

This has the best gameplay in any FPS of all time hands down. I run it on a 4 yr old G4 (upgraded of course) and it runs like a champ. The graphics are really stunning if you have the right CPU horsepower and video card to make it really rock your world. This game was the reason for all of the recent upgrades to my G4 and it's absolutely addicting! The motions are really smooth and they give you a ton of adjustments and modification options to make your experience a real fragfest. Be advised though it isn't rated "M" for nothing...if you enjoy intense violence, blood and strong language in your games, look no further.33 of 53 people found this useful

This is one of the best FPS available on the PC and Mac market. No computer should be without. The campaign is creative and entertaining, and inspires a real sense of satisfaction when you finally beat it.
Multiplayer is where this game really shines. Team up with players on LAN or internet for big battles on a large variety of levels. The fun NEVER ends! The game is completely mod-able, meaning there are is a large collection of extra levels and characters available on the internet. Or, simply join a modded server to have the new maps and game styles downloaded automatically each time a new game starts.
Once you get the game, DEFINITELY go online to get the Editor's Choice Expansion FOR FREE, includes new vehicles and maps. I know it says Windows only, but look for the mod tool called Santa Duck (you can find all these things just by searching Google for "Unreal Tournament 2004 Editor's Choice" and "Santa Duck") and that tool will install it for you.196 of 328 people found this useful
