4 panels are better than 3

In my opinion he new 3 panel design feels uncomfortable and cheap. Furthermore, I feel without the extra panel the shape of the triangle no longer comfortably fits in your hand.

    Mediocre quality and function

    • Written by from Keene

Would not buy again preferring to find a third-party maker that is supplying a higher quality, better functioning product. This product does not compare well to the leather version that I had on the iPad 2. That cover functioned well in terms of not falling off as this one does and acting as a reliable stand as this one is not. The leather version had a good look and feel until it started falling apart at the seams and the plastic ribs showed through. That surprised me but till then I liked it quite well and that took a year or so to start happening. This version due to the polyurethane gets dirty really easily and looks grungy. The black leather one did not show dirt as much as the blue plastic one.

    Not the greatest

    • Written by from New Hanover

Bought the brown leather case the day I bought my iPad air, 2 months ago. Fits nicely, sleek and visually appealing. The downside consists of two problems, first as many people here said the three fold design is just plain lousy. Nearly impossible to fold and use as a stand. Second the leather gets filthy. Oils from your hand stain this an no matter what leather cleaner you use it does not come clean. If you buy this beware of the fold issue and immediately spray your case with a protectant sealant
For 80 dollars there and many cases that are far better than this. Very disappointed. Not up to Apple quality at all. If I could I would return this.

    Not durable

I've had this cover since Christmas and all the corners broke just putting it in my back pack. I'm not talking about forcing it but a few snags and they snapped right off. I would recommend something either than this.

Not bad, but broke in a month

    • Written by from Fairfax

The look and feel of the case is very good. The leather is good quality and feels very nice. The color is not as red as my original full sized iPad smart cover. That one was a beautiful rich red color. This one has more of an red-orange look. The cover does not lay flat on the case. It sags in the middle and is raised on the sides. The magnet does not hold as effectively as the smart cover.

My biggest complaint is that it broke after a month. I removed my iPad from the case and the case broke right above the charger port. For this price it should be able to handle having the iPad removed without breaking.

    Not that great

I upgraded my first generation iPad to an iPad Air. The smart covers don't do a whole lot. They protect the front screen but they don't fold up into useful viewing or working angles. It kept falling off the iPad too.

    Bad design

    • Written by from Helsingborg

Have just bought an IPAD 2 and IPADair for my wife and daughter. Bought covers for them both and the difference in quality is very apparent. The cover for the IPAD2 sits perfectly whilst the cover for the IPADair does not sit flush and raises itself in the middle. If you compare the two covers the IPADair cover does not look as well made.

This cover is terrible. It looks great on my white iPad air but that is the only thing that I like about it. My screen cracked when I put it in my bag going on an airplane because the case didn't support it when there were two objects pushing against it and it resulted in a crack in the bottom right corner of my iPad. I can't feel the crack but it is big and it looks terrible. I am very disappointed now i have to replace the screen.

    does not stay well

    • Written by from mountain view

I've got smart covers for my iPad 2 and 3, so I though I should get one for the air too. Yet the new cover is too thin or something, when I hold iPad upside down, the cover won't stay as well as the previous iPads. So I have to turn the auto wake/sleep function off, which makes the cover less useful.

    A step backwards

    • Written by from Bellevue

Moving from an older leather Smart Cover to this new design has been a big disappointment. The plastic hinge is too flexible when folded back, making the iPad less stable in the hand. The three section design doesn't stay in position securely when propping up the iPad in the fully reclined position. The only improvement I see is increased stability in the upright position.
