    Trying hard to love it

    • Written by from East Rockaway

The look and feel of this case is great. I have one in black, it's sleek, it feels amazing in the hand.

The functionality of the case when closed is awesome. It fully protects the iPad Air.

When open it's a different story, the front cover just doesn't lay flat against against the back of the iPad, It's not the end of the world but it really is kind of annoying. I'll probably keep this around but if a better back that's compatible with a smart cover comes along I'm going to try it out.

For $80, they should have added a magnet in the case itself to hold it nice and sturdy.

Good case, not a great stand

    • Written by from TARPON SPRINGS

The case fits the Air great, nice and tight. The cover passes for leather but because of the way the back is molded, it takes on an almost rigid cardboard quality. No doubt it protects my investment but the stand function is not great, both the standing up or perched up just above the table, I wish it was a bit more sturdy. $79 seems pretty expensive for what you get, maybe wait if you can for some after maket version that have perfected a full case.

Cover provides good protection, but isn't a great stand

    • Written by from CAMPBELL

The cover snugly encloses my iPad Air and provides a good seal between the front flap and the case the whole way around. As you'd expect, the cutouts line up perfectly and the automatic lock / unlock function also works well.

However, the smart case isn't a great iPad stand. The flap does not provide enough stability for tablet manipulation (typing, launching apps etc) when folded back on itself when standing in the upright, requiring a second hand to support it to prevent it from falling over. Also, in the slightly inclined mode, the strength of the magnet built into the case is insufficient to keep the cover folded back on itself, and as a result the case usually collapses in on itself. Even when it doesn't, the incline is only slightly more angled than horizontal anyway.

    Really nice case...but...

Honestly, the quality of the case itself is great, but it has a design flaw. When the cover is closed, it doesn't lay flat. Because of the way the hinge material (between the case and cover) was designed to be sturdy, it holds the cover up about 1/16th of an inch. This, in turn, makes the cover not lay flat as the back pane of the cover (nearest the hints) is raised and the other two panels of the cover lay flat. It's significant enough that it's very noticeable when looking at it.
