I really don't know why this is getting less that 4 stars?

This dock is one of the nicest docks I have used, it has a 3.5mm headphone line out for your speakers or headphones which is nice. A lot of people and I mean a lot of people are complaining about using touch id with the 5s, I have had no problems with my 5s touch id; the button is covered up a tiny bit but everything works fine with it for me and there is no problems at all. It is very easy to get your iPhone 5 or 5s in and out even with one hand only. ABOUT THE CASE PROBLEM: As you can see in all of the apple pictures no case is on the phone, and the opening is small enough to just fit an iPhone, so I'm not sure why it is so surprising and disappointing for everyone to find out because it seems like people purchased the dock without even looking at it.

Good, steady and beautiful but doesn't work every time with touch-id.

I find the dock extremely steady and the iPhone fits perfectly without a case. The thing though, is that it doesn't work every time with touch-id - be aware of that.

    Serves it's purpose

I have been waiting for this since I purchased the iPhone 5 and am really happy it has finally arrived! Granted, it doesn't work with a case so if that it what you need it for consider the Belkin or some other non-Apple product. But if you don't use a case and are looking for a simple reliable way to stand up your iphone this is the best product on the market. Believe me, I've spent hundreds on other solutions waiting for this. The iPhone 5 slips right into this case, you can even do it in the dark (unlike the Belkin). And that's all I was looking for, a simple stand that I can leave my phone in by my bed. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because the home button slightly covers the home button, easily solved in the next design. If apple will make a solution for the new iPad I'd consider buying a new iPad. But not until then.

    Great to Have

First thing to know is that this will NOT work with iPhones which have a case on them. This is only to be used with naked iPhones. I deducted one star for this reason as I know many like to have their iPhones wrapped up in a case.
I do not like to use cases on my iPhone, preferring to hold and appreciate the iPhone in its pure form. Yes, it gets a little scratch or nick here and there but I hate covering it up (as I did with a few previous iPhones. The iPhone sits snuggly in place when docked and gets its charge. The dock is a clean and small device with enough heft to it in order to hold the phone firmly in place on your desk. Having the dock instead of just the wire sitting on my desk looks so much better and I am much more apt to charge my iPhone by placing it in the dock so I have yet to run out of power due to typical use.
If you don't use an iPhone case and want to have a clean look to your desk, get one of these.

Nice & simple, but only if you don't use a case.

This dock is essentially the same as the iPhone 4 dock, with the exception of the lightning connector. It is completely solid white, excepting of the non-slip gray footing on the underside. It feels solid and substantial, but does not weigh enough that you can simply pull your phone out of it without holding the dock itself down. The dock requires a lightning cable, (not included) which will plug into the back. There is also a 3.5mm port on the back for connecting the dock to a speaker, stereo, etc. If you are one to use your iPhone without a case and would like a dock, you should consider this dock. If you use a case, but don't mind removing it to dock your iPhone, you may still consider it, but this dock is probably not for you.

**In order to clear confusion let me restate the two most important facts:
-You can only use this dock if your iPhone 5 or 5S does not have a case on!
-You will have to place your hand on the back of the dock to hold it down while you remove your phone!

    iPhone 5s dock

    • Written by from BOTHELL

I think this is a great dock. Other reviewers have said that it is flimsy - not true, it is very solid. It's true that it does not work with a case, as others have stated, so take the case off! Who would want to cover this beautiful piece of technology anyway! I admit it is hard to use the fingerprint sensor while the phone is docked, but there are ways around this: use the simple passcode feature, or turn off auto lock while the phone is in the dock - problem solved! I also have the TwelveSouth dock, which is great, but was somewhat difficult to assemble, and like the Apple dock, did not come with a lightning cable. So what? I am pleased with the Apple dock and will use it in my living room while watching TV - Apple TV, I should add. I am happy with my purchase and can recommend it to other owners of the new 5s.

What took so long. Finally Apple released a dock for the iphone5 (and 5S). I love the dock. It works great. My only complaint is I would have preferred if it were a little heavier. If you have a case for your iphone, don't by this dock. It is intended to fit the phone by itself (as all previous versions did). If you owned previous iphone docks, you will like this one.
