    Drawing too much power

    • Written by from Netherlands

I have two Iphone lightning cables that are roughly one year old and they both will not connect to my 'Imac'! Every time i connect my Iphone using the cables it comes up with a notification saying that it is drawing too much power and disconnects it, what is even more frustrating is that i am using the most recent model of the Imac. I have read around and i think the best option is to buy a new cable, more money gone.....

    Waste of money

    • Written by

Don't waste your money on Apple products. I can't even count how many chargers I've gone through in less than a year as they keeping breaking every few months. This is really disappointing. If you can't even play on your device just because the company produces some flimsy pieces of wire and calls it a charger then you might as well switch to being a customer of another company. Pretty sure there are others out there who provide better products that will keep you satisfied. I'll be switching over soon if Apple doesn't keep its game up.

    Worst Cable Ever I got

    • Written by from Memphis

I should not rate this one even one star.I have tried two these. One is completely damaged and not working at all. No physical damage at all. The other one which i borrowed from my sister just start tearing down near charging pin. Its so frustrating and when I went to store they said its out of warranty and I have to buy a new one which is almost $20. Can you make a better cable that can last little bit longer. I thought Apple Makes better and long lasting Product and not piece of trash. You are loosing my Loyalty.

    So disappointed in this cord....

    • Written by from West Deptford

Huge fan of Apple products so I am totally bewildered that this product would be so defective. We have two ipod touches in the family and both cords have stopped working. Never experienced this before. First one just stopped charging for no reason, the second shorted, shredded the cord and shocked my daughter. It's a disgrace if Apple doesn't redesign this product and allow for free exchanges.

The only Apple cable that I've had a problem with

    • Written by from Mississauga

My family has a countless number of Apple devices, and I've had the iPhone 5 for over a year now. The new cable was working perfectly fine throughout the year, however around November 2013 I noticed that the top of the cable was starting to tear. I tried to do my best and tape it together, however the plastic material that encases the inner wires continued to disintegrate. Hope Apple steps up the quality and length of their cables! My family has spent thousands of dollars on Apple products and we would appreciate basic things like charging cables not to break down on us!

    Garbage

    • Written by from Brooklyn

I have had three of these break on me in just over a year. They are blatantly designed to fail. For $20 it should last me at least a year. I've had to apply shrink tubing to make these last ... (I don't buy Apple brand cables anymore)

    Disappointment

    • Written by from Gallipolis

I've had the charger that comes with my phone MAYBE two months, and it's already not working. Obviously this is a common complaint. Definitely investing in a braided/more sturdy charger. Not even worth dealing with these flimsy excuses again.

    Unbelievably poor quality

    • Written by from Boston

The rubber towards the lightning connector side started to fray after about 2 weeks. The rubber then proceeded to disintegrate at a steady pace, followed by the sheathing that holds the cable.

Now, the sheathing and cable are so worn that the connector no longer works. Completely worthless after approximately 3 months of moderate use.

I have had some poor quality cables before that only last two or so years, but this is a completely new record in poor cable quality.

Lightning to USB Cable for iPhone 5

    • Written by from Woodside

This is the worst thing Apple ever made. Apple needs to do some quality control. This cable is not cheap. In last 18 months I already bought 4 of them for my 2 iPhones. Now I need to buy one more as both of my cable are broken again.

is it too much for apple to redesign these cords to be more durable?
i know i myself have gone through 6 of these cords in 12 months .... its perhaps due to my job as a driver . But really at 30 bucks a pop here where i live and 21 on line ... it all adds up fast.
the cords should be more durable for when we are trucking etc..i know not everyone has this problem but i myself know alot of people have the same concern as mine.
both ends of these cords get worn fast and there is really no extra support around the ends of both . there are other brands out there that are made awesome but after buying two of the other brands and doing updates now those two very durable cords are NOT supported on iphone, ipad or ipod..
when investing alot of our money as we each do into our apple products - is IT THAT HARD FOR APPLE to redesign a more solid cord? and make them longer...
OH and how about the horrible batteries in iphone 5 now ... im 20 months into my iphone and it will NOT hold a charge for more then 10 minutes...
have done all things possible at apple store etc to try resolve battery problem and nothing works..phone batteries should last longer then 20 months for battery life with out costing us apple lovers so much money

    Breaks Easily

    • Written by from GA

I have gone through 2 cables since owning my iPhone 5. The original cable that came with the phone broke at the base after 1 year. The second one broke at the base again after 7 months. The Apple support representative I spoke with said that with the receipt I should be able to exchange my broken cable for a new one at an Apple store since I have owned it for less than a year - I guess I'll find out if this is true.

    Emitted Sparks

    • Written by from Alpharetta

I recently plugged in my phone Lightning to USB Cable in the car, because my less than one year old iPhone 5 does not keep a charge, and I looked down and the cable had broken open and was emitting sparks. This was extremely alarming and could have been catastrophic if not caught in time. Extremely disappointed in this product as I had it for less than a year. I expect more from Apple products.

    what were they thinking?

    • Written by from Voorhout

This cable is almost unbelievable. I have my 5s since januari this year and i already wasted 3 cables! I am not doing anything special or extraordinary with these cable other than plugging in and out. I am not rolling them up, bending them or other activities that might wear the cable out. It is just a way to overpriced piece of garbage and i really think that this is my last iPhone i have ever bought.

Both my Iphone 5 and Ipad minis original cable failed

    • Written by from Weston

I own two devices with the lighning connector and the cables on both failed within a couple of months. They are very fragile and unreliable, sure they look nice but can´t handle normal use, They should at least last as long as the old 32 pin connector which I have on an ipad 3 and is still working fine. i bought extra apple cables and they too failed in less than ten weeks. My advice is to find an apple certified alternative that has the bulkiest connector and cable size. Amazon basics last a little longer ansd is better built, although being bulkier also means theymay not fit certain protective cases. The aggravation from having to buy cables all the time is making me consider micro USB android devices where cable failure is a non-issue.

Charging cable and battery life. Bummer.

    • Written by from Cameron Park

I love my iPhone but have 6 broken chargers and my phone shuts down with 30% left. My chargers get a lot of use because I'm always "plugged in" I'm a sales professional and can't depend on my phone. Going to have to make some hard choices in September
