    Charger cord

    • Written by from Baltimore

I am very displeased about the charger cords. I've had my phone almost 10 months now and I have got through 2 charger cords. I never had this problem with my iPod charger. Either Apple fixes it, or I'll go back to being an Android user. Because I will not pay another $19.00 for a lousy charger to break in under a few months.

come on apple, you can do better than this. the sheath of the cord is shredded, making charging impossible unless i just so happen to angle the plug-in just right after cursing at it for 15 mins. you guys need to fix this

I have recently (in the last few months) updated my iPhone 4 to the iPhone 5. I have one charger next to my bed and it has not moved since I bought the phone. Now, all of the sudden, the charger just stopped charging. I still have chargers from the first iPhone and various iPods that work perfectly fine. It is sad that Apple, who is supposed to be the best, would make such a product that breaks so easily. Now that I have provided most of my family with their own iPhone 5, I am going to hate telling them they will have to spend more money just to provide another charger for their phone. Very disappointed in Apple and their lack of ability to continue to make their products last. If you want to be the best, do not make a product that does not last more than 3 months.

My first cable that I got with my new iphone broke at the base of the plug into the phone connection within a few weeks of normal use. I thought maybe I had gotten a faulty one but after the new one that I thought was expensive and strong did the same thing a few hours ago I am not very happy and feel that apple needs to improve their product and send me a couple new cables until they resolve the issue.

None of my original cables work anymore. But the worse thing is that I upgraded from 6.1.4 to 7 and none of the aftemarket cables are accepted anymore. So...I am stuck with one big chunck of useless plastic....
NEXT STEP...SELL IT AND BUY SAMSUNG, HTC OR BLACKBERRY...NEVER AGAIN APPLE!

    Apple needs to fix this!

    • Written by from Dillsburg

I am just over 1 year with my iphone 5 and within the last 2 weeks I have had 3 out of 4 cables stop working. They are all splitting under the head like everyone else's. I leave it plugged into my bedroom at the nightstand and it lays flat every night. Not sure what else I could do to make it work. Very irritated that I have to buy yet another.

    Terrible Product

    • Written by from Charleston

These cords break incredibly fast. My charger still works for my Ipod video that I bought over 6 years ago. This product is horrible and needs to be fixed ASAP. I noticed that the rubber on this cord is cheaper and more flimsy than the old 30 pin cords. Please fix this failure Apple before you lose me to Samsung.

I think the charger is good because it is reversible but also its a pain because you can't use the same charger of some of your other devices. It also breaks down easily especially the cord.

    Low quality, easily worn out.

    • Written by from Salt Lake City

The only time I use my charging cable is at night while I sleep. Which means there are absolutely no forces at play anywhere along the length of the cable. Yet, the sheath right at the phone connection end has split exposing the wires. This has also caused intermittent contact and no/poor charging. This low quality electrical connection can't be good for the iPhone hardware.

I firmly believe Apple should replace any lighting cable free of charge for the life of the phone. I can't believe the rapid decline in Apple build and material quality in the past few years.

Bottom line: DO NOT buy an Apple brand Lightning Cable. It WILL fall apart in less than a year (or sooner if you use your phone while plugged in).

    Dangerous!

    • Written by from Endicott

With normal use, the rubber covering easily splits and tears, exposing the wiring underneath. I'm afraid if I leave my phone charging while unattended, I could burn my house down! I'm so sick of having to buy new cables - I go through 2-3 per year! No cord for any piece of technology that I currently use has this problem, including cords that frequently get moved around. My plan is up at the end of the year and I'm switching to a Samsung Galaxy. I've used to love, love, LOVE my iPhone, but Apple could certainly do a lot more to address consumer concerns and customer loyalty.

    On my third one

    • Written by from Ann Arbor

I bought an iPhone5 about a year ago and I just bought my third charger the other day. The first one got a random short, and the second one began fraying right at the edge until the entirety of the wire was exposed, and then it stopped working. These wires are made very cheaply and are not high quality for the price they are sold at.

POOR QUALITY MATERIALS AND CONSTRUCTION ON THE CABLE, VERY WELL FINISHED ON THE ENDS.

ALL THE LIGHTNING CABLES ARE SUPER-EXTRA EXPENSIVE FOR WHAT THEY ARE BUT I WOULDN'T MIND TO PAY THE STABLISHED PRICE OF THEM IF THEY WERE BETTER QUALITY MADE. THEY HAVE THE WORST CONSTRUCTION AND MATERIALS AND THAY DON'T LAST EVENA YEAR DESPITE YOU TAKE SUPER CARE OF THEM.

    VERY DISAPPOINTED...

    The Worst

    • Written by from dpo

Between three new iPods, an iPad and an iPhone C, we have gone through at least five of these cables. The latest failure was with a cord less than two months old. No matter how much care is taken in using and storing these cords, the insulation tears and the wires short out. This is by far the poorest quality Apple product I have had in more than 20 years as an Apple customer.

    • Written by from Villa Park

My roommates and I have all had a rough time with our cords. With the latest update, my phone won't recognize the cord saying that "this accessory is not compatible." Really? It's an apple cord! It came with the phone! The rubber has also scrunched up at the end after minimal, normal use. This is a joke.
