    Garbage.

    • Written by from Hamden

This cable is junk. I have never had a cable die on me like the ones made for the iPhone 5. I bought generic ones on eBay a while back, just to have extras. I thought they all died because they were cheap but then my original one started doing the same thing. I've only had it just over a year. Apple needs to figure this one out ASAP. $20 a pop is not cool.

    Disappointed and expensive!

I have an iPhone 5 and my son has an iPhone 4 and I must say we both LOVE our phones except for the garbage cords they come with!!! In the past six months my son has gone through 3 cords and I have gone through 4 myself. To be on the 4th and 5th cords simply because they are cheaply made is absolutely ridiculous! To realize we are close to $200 in just cords is awful. I think it really stinks that brand new these phones are $500+, yet they can't make a cord that lasts the life of the phone. Is it really necessary to have to repeatedly buy the same accessory over the WHOLE life span of your phones?? I suppose it is of we want to charge our phones!

    Poor Apple product...

    • Written by from Bisbee

I got my iPhone 5 last September and already my cord doesn't work. At first I thought I had just been more rough with it than usual and that's why it had quite working, but after reading all of the other reviews, I realized that it was in fact just the cord. I got my iPod classic six years ago and the iPod quite working (last year) before the 30-pin adapter did (and it's still of use), so I'm really surprised that Apple made such a flimsy product, especially in comparison to the 30-pin adapter, which never gave me any problems. I'm buying the cord again because I have to if I want to be able to use my phone, but I really hope Apple is working on making a more durable cord so we're not having to buy them every 5 months, regardless of how much money it's making them.

    STUPID!

    • Written by from Oslo

I got my iPod touch 5th gen. 32GB as a gift, it's not really a gift if the stupid charger breaks the 3rd month of use! When I charge it, it goes like this (Charging-3sec.-NotCharging-3sec.-Charging-3sec.-NotCharging) It is so irritating! I want a new DURABLE cable when I get a new one with my warranty! Shame on you Apple! You can do better!! My brother has had a 30pin connector for two years and it works perfectly!!

The 2 meter is not as flimsy

    • Written by from Germantown

I've been though a few of these .5 m, but the 2 meter cable has a thicker cord and appears to be holding up a lot better. I will be buying the 2 meter if another .5 meter one breaks.

    One word - TERRIBLE!!!

    • Written by from reedsville

My family all went and bought 4 phones together. Which means we got 4 chargers. Even 2 months has not passed when mine gave out. When the 4th month mark hit another one gave out. The other 2 were a little better. At 7 months both were falling apart and had to be taped together by duct tape! Although, duct tape fixes everything, It did not take long for the 3rd charger to give out. We only have 1 charger left, and if I could only upload a picture: you would not recognize it!!! This is the reason why I have to buy another brand new charger in hopes it will last me longer than the others! Also, everyone who used these chargers where very careful and gentle!! Now I have to pay 80 dollars for only 4 chargers!!!

    The newer, the worse.

    • Written by from Ann Arbor

I've seen in the high rated stars that all the people that have had the lightning cable have had it for about a year or more. When I see the one star ratings, I see that those people including myself have had the lightning cable for only about 6 months at most, usually now ranging between 3-4 months truthfully. I would like to say that Apple probably purposefully made the cords cheaper and cheaper as the iPhone 5c and 5s along with the newer iPads to get a better and much higher profit as people now begin to transition. A year ago, the iPhone 5 wasn't so so popular and wasn't used as much because people were still very content with their versions of iPhone 4s and whatnot. This has become a very big deal for many people, and I ask of Apple to change it.

    Would give 0 stars

    • Written by from Lake Zurich

I am shocked at the poor quality of this cable. I have been through at least 7 or 8 and I have had my iPhone for a little over a year. I do not excessively twist or put stress on the cable, so I have found that no matter how gentle or careful I am with this cord, it lasts an average of 2-3 weeks before it stops working completely. If this continues and I end up spending more money on these cables than on the actual phone itself, I am going to have to find myself a different phone with chargers of a higher quality.

If I could put ZERO STARS i would.

This is literally the worst possible product I have ever had the unfortunate displeasure to own. Not only have I spent well over 100 dollars on replacing this stupid thing but it never seems to work no matter how many I get! If they could make a more reliable piece of NECESSARY equipment it would probably make me reconsider getting a samsung phone but because I am so tired with the endless issues especially coming from chargers- I'm done with apple.

Can I rate this 0 stars!? This is the 7th cord i've gone through in a year, it even burnt the insides of my new phone so they already replaced it with a new one! Thank god it didn't start a fire! I don't get why apple isn't fixing this SERIOUS problem.... THIS IS STUPID already apple.

Horribly designed. Mine broke within 6 months of buying my iPhone 5. Everyone I know who has the iPhone 5 has had their charger break within this time period of regular use. This is ridiculous.

    Third cord already!

    • Written by from Clarendon Hills

This is the third cord I've ordered for my daughter's iphone 5 in six months. She was convinced that something was wrong with her phone that it was breaking all of the cords, but now that I see the other reviews, I see that we are not alone. With all of this negative feedback, I can't believe that Apple hasn't tackled this and fixed it yet. I think we should all get free cords.

    Poor quality charger

    • Written by from Rolling Meadows

Like most others reviewing this product, the sheathing on my cord broke open right below the lightning adapter, exposing the wires. It is only used in my car and therefore has not had much wear and tear at all. It happened randomly and all of the sudden, I smelled a strong burning smell in my car and this is a very dangerous issue. Now I am forced to buy another charger for 20.00, knowing that it is probably going to happen again. For the amount of money apple charges for their products, they should be high quality, and more importantly not pose safety hazards.

    Charger cord

    • Written by from Baltimore

I am very displeased about the charger cords. I've had my phone almost 10 months now and I have got through 2 charger cords. I never had this problem with my iPod charger. Either Apple fixes it, or I'll go back to being an Android user. Because I will not pay another $19.00 for a lousy charger to break in under a few months.

    Very disappointed.

    • Written by from calera

I have recently (in the last few months) updated my iPhone 4 to the iPhone 5. I have one charger next to my bed and it has not moved since I bought the phone. Now, all of the sudden, the charger just stopped charging. I still have chargers from the first iPhone and various iPods that work perfectly fine. It is sad that Apple, who is supposed to be the best, would make such a product that breaks so easily. Now that I have provided most of my family with their own iPhone 5, I am going to hate telling them they will have to spend more money just to provide another charger for their phone. Very disappointed in Apple and their lack of ability to continue to make their products last. If you want to be the best, do not make a product that does not last more than 3 months.

    • Written by from Beulah

My first cable that I got with my new iphone broke at the base of the plug into the phone connection within a few weeks of normal use. I thought maybe I had gotten a faulty one but after the new one that I thought was expensive and strong did the same thing a few hours ago I am not very happy and feel that apple needs to improve their product and send me a couple new cables until they resolve the issue.
