The 2 meter is not as flimsy

    • Written by from Germantown

I've been though a few of these .5 m, but the 2 meter cable has a thicker cord and appears to be holding up a lot better. I will be buying the 2 meter if another .5 meter one breaks.

    One word - TERRIBLE!!!

    • Written by from reedsville

My family all went and bought 4 phones together. Which means we got 4 chargers. Even 2 months has not passed when mine gave out. When the 4th month mark hit another one gave out. The other 2 were a little better. At 7 months both were falling apart and had to be taped together by duct tape! Although, duct tape fixes everything, It did not take long for the 3rd charger to give out. We only have 1 charger left, and if I could only upload a picture: you would not recognize it!!! This is the reason why I have to buy another brand new charger in hopes it will last me longer than the others! Also, everyone who used these chargers where very careful and gentle!! Now I have to pay 80 dollars for only 4 chargers!!!

    The newer, the worse.

    • Written by from Ann Arbor

I've seen in the high rated stars that all the people that have had the lightning cable have had it for about a year or more. When I see the one star ratings, I see that those people including myself have had the lightning cable for only about 6 months at most, usually now ranging between 3-4 months truthfully. I would like to say that Apple probably purposefully made the cords cheaper and cheaper as the iPhone 5c and 5s along with the newer iPads to get a better and much higher profit as people now begin to transition. A year ago, the iPhone 5 wasn't so so popular and wasn't used as much because people were still very content with their versions of iPhone 4s and whatnot. This has become a very big deal for many people, and I ask of Apple to change it.

    A very dainty, low-grade cable.

    • Written by from Springville

The cable that came with my iphone 5S lasted me only 4 months then stopped working. You wouldn't expect such a low-grade cable to be sold for this much money.

    Terrible

    • Written by from winnipeg

This a terribly made product, breaks far to easily with normal use it would be nice not having to buy a ridiculously overpriced charging cable every two months!

    Waste of money...

    Break too much!

    • Written by from Moorhead

I have had this phone for 5 months now and I have now gone through 12 of these cables. I love that you can plug it in either way, but the cable just likes to stop charging my phone and the phone states "cable incompatible" and I have purchased each one of these cables at a retail store in apple packaging, so I know they are not knock offs! Very disappointed. Wish apple would just start giving them away so I don't have to waste any more money with them...If this continues, im going to have to switch to a droid...

    worst cable ever!

    • Written by from kingsburg

I have purchased two of these things, and they are currently being held together by scotch tape. The ends of these cables fray and break down. Once they split they start exposing the wire, ive had this issue with the 30 pin but it took years. Ive experienced it with these in as little as a month. Very terrible quality and very cheaply made!

    Drawing too much power

    • Written by from Netherlands

I have two Iphone lightning cables that are roughly one year old and they both will not connect to my 'Imac'! Every time i connect my Iphone using the cables it comes up with a notification saying that it is drawing too much power and disconnects it, what is even more frustrating is that i am using the most recent model of the Imac. I have read around and i think the best option is to buy a new cable, more money gone.....

Don't waste your money on Apple products. I can't even count how many chargers I've gone through in less than a year as they keeping breaking every few months. This is really disappointing. If you can't even play on your device just because the company produces some flimsy pieces of wire and calls it a charger then you might as well switch to being a customer of another company. Pretty sure there are others out there who provide better products that will keep you satisfied. I'll be switching over soon if Apple doesn't keep its game up.

    Worst Cable Ever I got

    • Written by from Memphis

I should not rate this one even one star.I have tried two these. One is completely damaged and not working at all. No physical damage at all. The other one which i borrowed from my sister just start tearing down near charging pin. Its so frustrating and when I went to store they said its out of warranty and I have to buy a new one which is almost $20. Can you make a better cable that can last little bit longer. I thought Apple Makes better and long lasting Product and not piece of trash. You are loosing my Loyalty.

    So disappointed in this cord....

    • Written by from West Deptford

Huge fan of Apple products so I am totally bewildered that this product would be so defective. We have two ipod touches in the family and both cords have stopped working. Never experienced this before. First one just stopped charging for no reason, the second shorted, shredded the cord and shocked my daughter. It's a disgrace if Apple doesn't redesign this product and allow for free exchanges.

The only Apple cable that I've had a problem with

    • Written by from Mississauga

My family has a countless number of Apple devices, and I've had the iPhone 5 for over a year now. The new cable was working perfectly fine throughout the year, however around November 2013 I noticed that the top of the cable was starting to tear. I tried to do my best and tape it together, however the plastic material that encases the inner wires continued to disintegrate. Hope Apple steps up the quality and length of their cables! My family has spent thousands of dollars on Apple products and we would appreciate basic things like charging cables not to break down on us!

    Garbage

    • Written by from Brooklyn

I have had three of these break on me in just over a year. They are blatantly designed to fail. For $20 it should last me at least a year. I've had to apply shrink tubing to make these last ... (I don't buy Apple brand cables anymore)

    Disappointment

    • Written by from Gallipolis

I've had the charger that comes with my phone MAYBE two months, and it's already not working. Obviously this is a common complaint. Definitely investing in a braided/more sturdy charger. Not even worth dealing with these flimsy excuses again.

    Would give 0 stars

    • Written by from Lake Zurich

I am shocked at the poor quality of this cable. I have been through at least 7 or 8 and I have had my iPhone for a little over a year. I do not excessively twist or put stress on the cable, so I have found that no matter how gentle or careful I am with this cord, it lasts an average of 2-3 weeks before it stops working completely. If this continues and I end up spending more money on these cables than on the actual phone itself, I am going to have to find myself a different phone with chargers of a higher quality.

    • Written by from Vancouver

Can I rate this 0 stars!? This is the 7th cord i've gone through in a year, it even burnt the insides of my new phone so they already replaced it with a new one! Thank god it didn't start a fire! I don't get why apple isn't fixing this SERIOUS problem.... THIS IS STUPID already apple.

Horribly designed. Mine broke within 6 months of buying my iPhone 5. Everyone I know who has the iPhone 5 has had their charger break within this time period of regular use. This is ridiculous.

    Third cord already!

    • Written by from Clarendon Hills

This is the third cord I've ordered for my daughter's iphone 5 in six months. She was convinced that something was wrong with her phone that it was breaking all of the cords, but now that I see the other reviews, I see that we are not alone. With all of this negative feedback, I can't believe that Apple hasn't tackled this and fixed it yet. I think we should all get free cords.
