Broke After 1 Month of Usage

    • Written by from Scarborough

It wasn't even taken out of the house or moved from room to room. Stayed in one spot and... it broke. I think Apple should have a LIFETIME warranty on these cables; you can afford it Apple. We should be able to come in and replace these on the spot at any store! Please support your customers in the little things. Thanks for making awesome iPhones/iPads!

I've never had a problem with my phone chargers, not of my iPhone or iPod chargers have ever broken in the past even after 2+ years of use.

It's been about half a year and my iPhone 5 charger has already broken

Expensive GARBAGE disposable cables. My next phone won't be an apple

    • Written by from Langley

I am an IT Manager and I oversee over a dozen iPhone's & iPad's. Because of the poor unreliable quality of the Lightning charge cables, I won't be buying any more Apple products for personal or business use. These are garbage. My newest one lasted just over two months. I've never had a standard USB cable or a micro USB cable fail on me with other devices. As for the Apple Lightning cables, I am not exaggerating when I say for 3 users with 5 devices that need Lightning Cables we have gone through over 60 cables in less than 2 years.

I have been an iPhone enthusiast since the iPhone 3GS, however I am now due for an upgrade on my own iPhone 5 as well as majority of our work iPhones and because of the poor quality of the proprietary lightning charge cables, my next phone will be a brand that uses the basic micro-USB connector to charge. Too many times I've been stuck with a dead phone because the cable no longer worked. It almost cost me my job once when a server failed on a weekend and no one could get through to me due to my phone dying and none of my charge cables working consistently.

    • Written by from Durham

I honestly LOVE Apple. I live and breathe Apple products, but APPLE...You know better than to create such TRASH. These chargers are made from dental floss. They don't last but 2 months. APPLE please do better. I have a $599 phone with a trash charger. -_-

Apple makes the worst cables in the history of the computers

    • Written by from Sofia

3 iPhones, 2 Macs, 1 iPod and 1 iPad latter I can confirm - for me Apple makes the *worst* cables ever.
They are the most easily damageable computer accessory that the man kind has ever produced.
Usually the Apple support is great and changes of the damaged once are possible. Yet it is a shame.

I ended up buying cheap cables from other manufactures, that are ugly (and with thick cables), but usually are times more solid.

For the amount of money I'm paying for 2 iPhone 5s I would expect the charger cables to last more than a few months! C'mon apple!!

    Disposable

    • Written by from Londrina

Is very expensive for it's durability
    The cable is simply disposable.
You will use it for no longer then 4 or 5 months and you are done... It just stops working.

    Poor Quality

I'm an avid Apple fan and I've gone through 3 exchanges of the lightning cord now. I've never seen an official cord wear out so fast under normal usage. I handle it the proper way, pulling out at the base, not the cord part, but it still fails eventually. Not sure what the issue is here, I wish Apple would make a better cord that wouldn't wear out after a month or two.

    A let down

    • Written by from Niagara Falls

I've had my iPhone for 5 months and my charger isn't working anymore because its not durable enough to handle regular use. this is very disappointing compared to previous apple products and this was thought to be "the next big thing." I love my iPhone but I'd like to be able to charge it to use it.

so, you have a $400 cell phone that depends on such a weak little thread to keep its battery alive? these stupid chargers are pathetic, and tear up way too easily! you may give some lame excuse to me like "you, the user, should be more careful and less abusive with your charger," but i am equally careful with my iphone charger as i am with my nokia charger, but there is one difference - I HAVE HAD MY NOKIA CHARGER FOR 4 YEARS NO

Very disappointed with this product. Am on my second cable in less than six months. I really have loved any apple product I have owned and have paid the extra money versus lower end brands for a computer , laptops, iPods and iPhones. This particular accessory has been very disappointing as it is not up to the usual apple standards

The cable was never abused and it took less than a year for it to stop working (first syncing stopped working then, a few months later, the same happened for charging).

As a comparison, I've owned a few Apple 30-pin to USB cables and have been using them without issues for at least 3 years now.

It's unfortunate that Apple quality is not what it used to be.

Spending more on cables than the Ipads! Please price them as disposable.

    • Written by from Camp Verde

My family of four has about 9 Apple products that use this cable (phones, ipads, mini ipads,). I have to buy these in bulk because they don't last. One of my daughters also uses this for an external small battery to keep her gadget charged when she is traveling and the wear and tear on the cable from being carried around means we are lucky if it lasts a month. These lightning cables seem more likely to quit working than the older cables did. We also like to keep one cable plugged in at home and use another for when we are traveling. So I end up buying 4 to 6 of these every month or two. And the reviews you find on the cheaper generic versions made by other companies are even worse -- so you go with Apple since it's the best option available. Too bad it's still not any good. Never mind that you have to buy the plug separately. For this price, Apple should be able to come up with a cable that lasts. Are they even reading the reviews? Because they are uniformly negative. Apple -- we love the gadgets. But the accessories are a disaster. If you can't make them last longer, how about pricing them as the disposable item they are.

These cables are so flimsy. They break every few months and I have to replace them so frequently which is a shame because these cables are not cheap. I really hope Apple will do something about this.

    Absolute shameful garbage

    • Written by from Dixon

Cable totally shredded, plastic jack crumbling, all with normal use. You know what? Scratch that-- this cable was actually babied from day one, because the only other Apple power cable I've owned did the same exact thing (charging cable for an old Powerbook). That one took longer to fall apart, at least. This hunk of trash Lightning cable, used only with one iPad, started looking beat up almost immediately. Did I mention it was babied from day one?? Apple, sitting on billions on cash, can't spend a little of it to develop a cable that lasts? Or maybe this was the plan-- "defective by design"..? Seriously, the actual insulation just started shredding off... I've never seen anything like it. I have a 14 yr old mouse (made by Billy up there in Seattle) that's seen daily, constant use, its usb cord getting pulled around for hours all day, and it still looks and works exactly as it did when I bought it. Dirty, sure, but structurally flawless. You can't do that, Apple? You can't make a cable that doesn't totoally slurp???

    Failure Certain With This Cable
