    A let down

    • Written by from Niagara Falls

I've had my iPhone for 5 months and my charger isn't working anymore because its not durable enough to handle regular use. this is very disappointing compared to previous apple products and this was thought to be "the next big thing." I love my iPhone but I'd like to be able to charge it to use it.

    Worst Apple product ever!

    • Written by from Agoura hills

You should be ashamed to still have this product on the market. We have gone through 4 genuine apple versions of this product. So, because Apple can't make a decent charger, we bought some from Belkin. Turns out our iPad rejects them, saying they are unauthorized.

For crying out loud Apple, if you can't make a good charger at least don't block others from using ones that work!

    I love this cable.

    • Written by from Uncasville

I love this connector/cable. I love that it's reversible. The old 30 pin connector was not and you had to turn it around if you did not have the right side to connect. I think this is very sturdy also. The 30 pin connectors were not as sturdy. I have no complaints.

    Low quality

    • Written by from Corman Park

Very disappointed with this product. Am on my second cable in less than six months. I really have loved any apple product I have owned and have paid the extra money versus lower end brands for a computer , laptops, iPods and iPhones. This particular accessory has been very disappointing as it is not up to the usual apple standards

    Annoyed

I've had my phone less than a year & I'm already on charger number 3. I'm very disappointed. They should really do something about this since so many people have to keep replacing them. They really need to hurry up and make a better one.

    Bad quality

    • Written by from Chicago

The cable was never abused and it took less than a year for it to stop working (first syncing stopped working then, a few months later, the same happened for charging).

As a comparison, I've owned a few Apple 30-pin to USB cables and have been using them without issues for at least 3 years now.

It's unfortunate that Apple quality is not what it used to be.

    • Written by from Hillsboro

i have had this cable since the ipad mini came out and i do have to agree it is a lot more durable than the previous 30 pin cable. a few weeks later I went to unplug my ipad and the charger had melted wich caused for a relatively expensive cable and my new ipad!

Not worthy of the Apple name

    • Written by from BURIEN

Apple needs to step up and get these made to a more reliable manufacturing standard.
Attention to detail is where Apple usually shines.. In this case they do not.

    It's dun diddly

    • Written by from Sarasota

So, if you couldn't tell from the truckload of reviews, this cable's awful. I had two a few months ago but now I'm down to one that barely works. Not sure what's up with people giving it 5 stars, but they're probably shady people you shouldn't trust. I'm finna start buying some 3rd party cables because Apple dun goofd this one up. I hate these cables so much that I was actually competed to write a review - you know the struggle is real then

    Awful product

    • Written by from Normandy Beach

I have been through 3 different cables in the year that I have owned my iphone 5. Sorry to say, that this will probably be my last iphone as I have no intention of going through this cable hassle ever again. It's a shame that you let something as trivial as a charging cable steer people away from buying your more expensive products.

Spending more on cables than the Ipads! Please price them as disposable.

    • Written by from Camp Verde

My family of four has about 9 Apple products that use this cable (phones, ipads, mini ipads,). I have to buy these in bulk because they don't last. One of my daughters also uses this for an external small battery to keep her gadget charged when she is traveling and the wear and tear on the cable from being carried around means we are lucky if it lasts a month. These lightning cables seem more likely to quit working than the older cables did. We also like to keep one cable plugged in at home and use another for when we are traveling. So I end up buying 4 to 6 of these every month or two. And the reviews you find on the cheaper generic versions made by other companies are even worse -- so you go with Apple since it's the best option available. Too bad it's still not any good. Never mind that you have to buy the plug separately. For this price, Apple should be able to come up with a cable that lasts. Are they even reading the reviews? Because they are uniformly negative. Apple -- we love the gadgets. But the accessories are a disaster. If you can't make them last longer, how about pricing them as the disposable item they are.

Lightning USB Cable is just that quick hit of lightning and it's done. The cord breaks at the connection to the phone just with normal use. Apple please make a better product.

Multi Lightning Connector Packs and Poor Cord Quality

    • Written by from Seymour

Like all other owners of Apple iOS devices I am making the transition from the old Apple Connectors to the new Lightning Connectors. It would make sense to provide multi cord packs to upgrade all the additional chargers we seem to have accumulated over time. It would seem only third party manufacturers are providing such a product. I am always reluctant to purchase non genuine products such as cords as genuine ones seem to last longer. This was certainly true with Nokia before I made the transition to iPhone a few years ago.

I must admit though the quality of Apple cords is disappointingly poor in comparison. The cord fatigues rapidly where it enters the connector and the wire fractures inside the insulation. Considering the amount of use these cords have, upgraded cords are in order!!!

None of my original cables work anymore. But the worse thing is that I upgraded from 6.1.4 to 7 and none of the aftemarket cables are accepted anymore. So...I am stuck with one big chunck of useless plastic....
NEXT STEP...SELL IT AND BUY SAMSUNG, HTC OR BLACKBERRY...NEVER AGAIN APPLE!

    • Written by from Orem

This product is great, it gets the job done and is very easy to use. I would say that to those who are experiencing issues with their cable if you take it to an Apple store they will switch it out for free and give you a new. (as long as it is under a year)

    Wait!!!

    • Written by from Pasadena

So looking over the reviews, others have had the same problem I had and at first I too thought the problem was with my chord. On my iPhone5 I had three to four lightning chords and one of them was sort of scratched up. Thought it was my fault, so I just kept using the other chords. My iPhone5 WOULD NOT charge and I previously had to wrap my chord around or kept it in a certain way/direction for my phone to finally charge. Turns out that it WASN'T the chord at all, BUT the actual phone itself. Luckily my iPhone5 was still under warranty, so anyone who has this problem and is still under warranty, just go take it in and they'll give you a new phone!

In conclusion, my lightning chords all work with my new iPhone5 (including the scratched up one) and my iPad2 w/ retina display. I am giving it a 4/5 though because it was kind of easy to scratch the chord, but other than that, it works like a charm!
