    IPhone 5 charger

    • Written by from Greenville

To whom it may concern: please do not automatically assume those of us upset about the cheap-made charger that we are pulling the plug from the phone by pulling on the cable...NOT true! I am always very careful to remove plug by grasping the plug, this has not prevented the charger from failing. Now, I can only put the plug in one way to get it to work, AND..it's often have to rub on the contacts to get it to work AT ALL!!! Extremely dissatisfied with the product. APPLE.....PLEASE CHANGE THE DESIGN AND GIVE CURRENT OWNERS A SUPPLY OF THESE CABLES...or, make them cheaper for us to buy!

    iPhone 5 Charger

    • Written by from Durant

I'm typing this on my iPad, because my iPhone is dead due to the fact the charger stopped working! :( and I'm NOT rough on it. I LOVE Apple and have been hopelessly in love for a while but this is so disappointing for me because my phone/charger is only a few months old and never leaves my bedside, so it hasn't been used improperly. We gotta do something about this, theses suckers aren't cheap to replace AND I have a strong feeling ill be in the same boat in a few months....... :/

    Not Happy

    • Written by from Buffalo

As I read the other reviews I felt a little better that I was not the only one with the same problem. That does not mean I'm happy though. Things that we use daily should not become obsolete in a few short months, requiring the purchase of a new one. I would rather see a bit thicker cord (if that is what's needed) than to have to regularly replace this item. The inconvenience is the worst part, especially with what we pay for these cell phones monthly.

Apple can do better than this

    • Written by from Rutherford

I have to keep replacing these - even when treated gently, the cord breaks down quickly. And it's no fun to be caught traveling when it decides to randomly stop working on you.

What is Apple doing to fix this?!

    • Written by from Chicago

There is obviously something wrong with the design or manufacture of this product. I have had iPhones for years and never had as much trouble with the charging cable as I have had with the iPhone 5. I have gone through 3 cables in the past 6 months and it is definitely the cable and not the phone because each time I get a new cable it works...but only for a while.

Poor Quality or Poor Design ?

    • Written by from Tampa

Quick note -- my Lightning to USB Cable also failed -- after a couple of months .. very disappointing. Especially given the longevity of the previous power cords for my 2 earlier iPhones --- Apple, there is a trend here --- please take a look and offer a second generation cable -- a sturdier version ...

    Useless within 3 months

    • Written by from Fareham

Within 3 months of owning my iPhone this cable ceased to work. No sign of damage but clearly the internals can not handle the demand of the pittiful iPhone battery. My new 3rd-party one is working much better.

    LIGHTNING CABLE IS A DUD

    • Written by from Savage

HOW IS IT THAT APPLE CAN'T ENGINEER A CABLE THAT WITHSTANDS NORMAL USE FOR MORE THAN 6 MONTHS. OUR FAMILY HAS OVER A DOZEN APPLE PRODUCTS, 6 FEATURING THE FINELY ENGINEERED LIGHTNING CABLE. 4 OF WHICH HAVE FAILED! ITS QUITE SIMPLE!!!! EXTEND THE SILICONE JACKET PROTECTING THE CORD! TRY TO PURCHASE A AFTERMARKET CABLE THAT LASTS AND APPLE'S SOFTWARE DISCOURAGES IT.

MAKE A BETTER CORD! OR AUTOMATICALLY SHIP YOU IPHONE USERS NEW CORDS EVERY 6 MONTHS. RIDICULOUS!

    C'mon Apple!

    • Written by from Des Moines

My lightning cable lasted 60 days. Huge inconvenience! After reading these reviews it's pretty obvious that there is a problem that needs fixed. Great phones, but if Apple cant provide something as simple as a reliable charger their competition will eat their lunch. Not what you expect from Apple. They should have stuck with the 30 pin.

Is anyone happy with this product?

    • Written by from Ottawa

My first cord frayed, my replacement just stopped working. My cables have lasted about 6 months each, so I guess I'm doing better than a lot of others.

    Annoyed.

    • Written by from Norfolk

My iPhone 5 charger stopped working within a month of purchasing the phone. I received a new one under warranty but now the replacement has stopped working as well. If I could give this product 0 stars, I would. I am very disappointed in the design and subsequent failure of the product. I had my iPhone 4 for years and never had to replace the charger. Something needs to be done about this serious lack of quality control.

    This cable is a joke!

    • Written by from Beachwood

I received my new iPhone 5c yesterday. The round protective rubber root came right off when I was trying to unplug it after the first charge. Then the bare 4 wires and welding leads are fully exposed on a small tiny board. I was like "really!? This is designed and sold by Apple!?" I though I was being gentle and careful when unplugging. I am highly disappointed in this cable design and quality. Now I am trying to exchange it for a new one, but I can easily image I will have the same trouble many times down the road just like many other users posted in the review. This cable is truly a JOKE! SHAME ON APPLE! I wish I could choose 1/4 of a star here.

    Worst Apple product ever!

    • Written by from Agoura hills

You should be ashamed to still have this product on the market. We have gone through 4 genuine apple versions of this product. So, because Apple can't make a decent charger, we bought some from Belkin. Turns out our iPad rejects them, saying they are unauthorized.

For crying out loud Apple, if you can't make a good charger at least don't block others from using ones that work!
