    Unbelievably poor quality

    The rubber towards the lightning connector side started to fray after about 2 weeks. The rubber then proceeded to disintegrate at a steady pace, followed by the sheathing that holds the cable.

    Now, the sheathing and cable are so worn that the connector no longer works. Completely worthless after approximately 3 months of moderate use.

    I have had some poor quality cables before that only last two or so years, but this is a completely new record in poor cable quality.

    i went through 2 lightning cable in less than 12 months, both broke due to poor quality, now i decided to buy third party cable which works great and way better quality than OEM apple lighting cable.

    What is Apple doing to fix this?!

    There is obviously something wrong with the design or manufacture of this product. I have had iPhones for years and never had as much trouble with the charging cable as I have had with the iPhone 5. I have gone through 3 cables in the past 6 months and it is definitely the cable and not the phone because each time I get a new cable it works...but only for a while.

    Broke After 1 Month of Usage

    It wasn't even taken out of the house or moved from room to room. Stayed in one spot and... it broke. I think Apple should have a LIFETIME warranty on these cables; you can afford it Apple. We should be able to come in and replace these on the spot at any store! Please support your customers in the little things. Thanks for making awesome iPhones/iPads!

    Bad quality

    The cable was never abused and it took less than a year for it to stop working (first syncing stopped working then, a few months later, the same happened for charging).

    As a comparison, I've owned a few Apple 30-pin to USB cables and have been using them without issues for at least 3 years now.

    It's unfortunate that Apple quality is not what it used to be.

    Poor Quality or Poor Design ?

    Quick note -- my Lightning to USB Cable also failed -- after a couple of months .. very disappointing. Especially given the longevity of the previous power cords for my 2 earlier iPhones --- Apple, there is a trend here --- please take a look and offer a second generation cable -- a sturdier version ...

    My lightning cable lasted 60 days. Huge inconvenience! After reading these reviews it's pretty obvious that there is a problem that needs fixed. Great phones, but if Apple cant provide something as simple as a reliable charger their competition will eat their lunch. Not what you expect from Apple. They should have stuck with the 30 pin.

    Cheaply made

    This cable is cheaply made. On second cord in just over a year. Seriously for what u pay for this phone it should lasts and be well made. Apple needs to go back to the drawing board on this cable.i would give it NO stars if I could !

    Poor Design - 85% Failure Rate

    I have 6 devices that use this cable and so far 5 of them have failed. Thats a 85% failure rate. I refuse to drop $100 for cables that are doomed to fail.

    every charger i have recieved has broken in the space of two to three weeks,the ipad doesnt recongise its there or the wire will bend at bottom,im extremly un satisfied with the quallity of these chargers as i have spent a collasol amount of money on new ones every few weeks i really enjoy my ipad but the chargers would put me off and make me wish to get rid of it as i cant be bothered with the hassle,definitley need a new desgin for them as they are too flimsy and thin to charge the ipad.

    This is literally the worst possible product I have ever had the unfortunate displeasure to own. Not only have I spent well over 100 dollars on replacing this stupid thing but it never seems to work no matter how many I get! If they could make a more reliable piece of NECESSARY equipment it would probably make me reconsider getting a samsung phone but because I am so tired with the endless issues especially coming from chargers- I'm done with apple.

    Can I rate this 0 stars!? This is the 7th cord i've gone through in a year, it even burnt the insides of my new phone so they already replaced it with a new one! Thank god it didn't start a fire! I don't get why apple isn't fixing this SERIOUS problem.... THIS IS STUPID already apple.

    Spending more on cables than the Ipads! Please price them as disposable.

    My family of four has about 9 Apple products that use this cable (phones, ipads, mini ipads,). I have to buy these in bulk because they don't last. One of my daughters also uses this for an external small battery to keep her gadget charged when she is traveling and the wear and tear on the cable from being carried around means we are lucky if it lasts a month. These lightning cables seem more likely to quit working than the older cables did. We also like to keep one cable plugged in at home and use another for when we are traveling. So I end up buying 4 to 6 of these every month or two. And the reviews you find on the cheaper generic versions made by other companies are even worse -- so you go with Apple since it's the best option available. Too bad it's still not any good. Never mind that you have to buy the plug separately. For this price, Apple should be able to come up with a cable that lasts. Are they even reading the reviews? Because they are uniformly negative. Apple -- we love the gadgets. But the accessories are a disaster. If you can't make them last longer, how about pricing them as the disposable item they are.

    Weak Cord

    Lightning USB Cable is just that quick hit of lightning and it's done. The cord breaks at the connection to the phone just with normal use. Apple please make a better product.

    I have had my iphone 5 for less than a year and I now have to buy a 4th cord! For $20 this is ridiculous. Very low quality. Apple makes such good products but their cords/chargers are horrible. Please work on this Apple!

    Multi Lightning Connector Packs and Poor Cord Quality

    Like all other owners of Apple iOS devices I am making the transition from the old Apple Connectors to the new Lightning Connectors. It would make sense to provide multi cord packs to upgrade all the additional chargers we seem to have accumulated over time. It would seem only third party manufacturers are providing such a product. I am always reluctant to purchase non genuine products such as cords as genuine ones seem to last longer. This was certainly true with Nokia before I made the transition to iPhone a few years ago.

    I must admit though the quality of Apple cords is disappointingly poor in comparison. The cord fatigues rapidly where it enters the connector and the wire fractures inside the insulation. Considering the amount of use these cords have, upgraded cords are in order!!!

    Horribly designed. Mine broke within 6 months of buying my iPhone 5. Everyone I know who has the iPhone 5 has had their charger break within this time period of regular use. This is ridiculous.

    They just stop working, poor quality. Apple should offer replacement chargers for cheaper!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Third cord already!

    This is the third cord I've ordered for my daughter's iphone 5 in six months. She was convinced that something was wrong with her phone that it was breaking all of the cords, but now that I see the other reviews, I see that we are not alone. With all of this negative feedback, I can't believe that Apple hasn't tackled this and fixed it yet. I think we should all get free cords.
