    Cable Warranty Exchange

    • Written by from Poway

Not sure why there's so many negative reviews, but I've had my cable for nearly year and it's only now showing signs of distress. Took it to the Apple store today and since it's still within my warranty, they exchanged it for me free of charge. Since I purchased AppleCare+ for my iPhone 5s, my cable is also covered under the extended warranty.

Good cables if a little pricy

    • Written by from Genoa City

I have 5 cables all together for 2 cars, work, home and road trips. I don't like to unplug them My wife and daughter have another 6. Most are Apple and a few are Amazon basics and Belkin. I have also bought several to get correct lengths for car and desk. I probably have bought 18 cables all together. I have never had one of these quit working. I have had issues with chargers not being approved devices, but zero cable failures. I am not easy on the cables either as my travel ones get wrapped around the wall and car chargers for storage. I don't know what all the 1 star ratings are from. My experience is perfect. I also like the easy fit and switch ability.

No issues with it after a year...

I've been using the same Lightning cable that came with my iPad 4 for the past year now, and haven't had any issues at all with it - so really surprised by these reviews, but I don't discredit them. I do tend to be really gentle with all my electronics, especially my Apple ones.. so this may be why.

To me it seems like a typical solid construction, the kind we've come to expect from Apple. It's clear that there're some pretty serious issue with it's design though, from everyone having so many problems. Cables ought to be virtually indestructible from normal use. This is ridiculous, really.

So looking over the reviews, others have had the same problem I had and at first I too thought the problem was with my chord. On my iPhone5 I had three to four lightning chords and one of them was sort of scratched up. Thought it was my fault, so I just kept using the other chords. My iPhone5 WOULD NOT charge and I previously had to wrap my chord around or kept it in a certain way/direction for my phone to finally charge. Turns out that it WASN'T the chord at all, BUT the actual phone itself. Luckily my iPhone5 was still under warranty, so anyone who has this problem and is still under warranty, just go take it in and they'll give you a new phone!

In conclusion, my lightning chords all work with my new iPhone5 (including the scratched up one) and my iPad2 w/ retina display. I am giving it a 4/5 though because it was kind of easy to scratch the chord, but other than that, it works like a charm!

I think the charger is good because it is reversible but also its a pain because you can't use the same charger of some of your other devices. It also breaks down easily especially the cord.
