RETURNED 3 TIMES.. DISTORTION & DROPOUTS

    • Written by from Staten Island

I love apple.. I love the Earpods, I love the iphone i love my Macbook Pro, but MY experience with the Apple In-Ear Headphones was TERRIBLE.. I literally exchanged them 3 TIMES and ALL THREE either the sound cut out, or there was distortion in one ear (at low and high volumes), or a high frequency drop off in the other ear to the point where it sounded like everything above 10kHz was rolled off... (I'm an audio engineer)
I'm returning the Apple In-Ear Headphones AGAIN and replacing them with either the RHA or the Beats ear buds... and either of those BETTER not have the same problem, otherwise i'll never be purchasing earbuds through Apple ever again. For the record, BIG TIME APPLE FAN... but from my experiences, they really dropped the ball on these Headphones

    SOUNDPROOF!!!

    • Written by from Glasgow

The sound is good its the soundproof, it is so loud when people are around you. I was listening to a guys tune on the metro and it was like listening to him holding a speaker and i could even to sing along to it. At least you can do well with beats because i have no problem with them.
Worst earphones I HAVE EVER USED!!!

    Not worth it

    • Written by from Waipahu

I thought that at $80, these would sound better than the free set that came with my iPhone. Playing the same song on my iPhone, I tried all three sizes of silicone in-ear buds, pushed and held them in as far as I could comfortably handle, and they still didn't have the frequency response of the ear buds that came with my iPhone. They sounded like they were EQ'd for AM radio. Fully unimpressed. If I can't return these for full credit, I would trade them straight up for the cheaper ones.

    Good value

    • Written by from WILMINGTON

I've had 3 pair of these earbuds, and I'm generally okay with them, but would prefer a better build quality. My issue is the remote functions stop working after about a year and a half. I haven't had the problem many here have experienced with the bud part staying in the ear when you remove it, but I appreciate that the cables are rubber, which will lay flat, and not twist up like plastic ones. Sound quality is true fidelity, not biased toward bass, which appears to be the other issue with those that gave this product a low rating.

I guess I simply shouldn't expect more than a year and half out of them with normal use.

    Higher Expectations...Especially for the Price!

    • Written by from Grand Prairie

These headphones cost more than 2x as much as the regular 29.99 ones, but the sound quality is literally the same, but that's not the worst part: the little plastic earbuds fall off all the time! I've already lost the one in my size, so I can only have one earbud in my ear. For the price, you'd expect to have these for at least a year, but no can do. Apple, please fix this ear bud issue, I can't use mine anymore and I've only had them for a couple of months.

    excellent heaphones!

    • Written by from Altamonte springs

apple products rock! these are perfect for listening to music on my ipad air. when I bought them I wondered if there were any extra earbuds for fit and there are but I didn't need them because the buds already attached fit so well. sound quality is great. I know there are much more expensive earphones out there, but I like the sound on these. haven't answered a call yet, but i'm sure It will work great.

some of the worst headphones i've ever owned

    • Written by from Atlanta

These headphones are poorly constructed and designed. For the first few weeks, they did sound decent... when they were properly sealed and in my ears. That being said, these do NOT want to stay in your ears. The earpieces included are very limited in selection, and none of them make a proper seal for longer than a minute. After a few weeks, wear and tear on these headphones became evident, though I had been no more rough on them than my pair of standard apple earphones. About a month in, one of the connections to the headphones became damaged, and sound only played through one earpiece. Through them in the garbage where they belong. Buy a pair of Shure or Etymotic if you really want some good in-ear monitors.

    Frustrating

    • Written by from Durham

These are the only kind of earbuds I've found that will actually stay in my ears comfortably without me having to shove them in too deep or push them back in constantly. Now for the bad news - I've owned three pairs and all three have stopped working after about a year. First the rubber insulation around the wires starts to fray and fall off, then the sound starts to cut out intermittently. Eventually the sound will stop working completely on one side. They're not well made at all. I would not recommend these earbuds.

DON'T WORRY ABOUT THE BASS OR FALLING OFF THE EAR!

    • Written by from Praha

I've read the reviews here before buying and was sceptical about the bass performance and "constant poping off the ears". But I gave it a try and I am truly surprised how terribly wrong were these reviewers! The trick is really to PUSH THE EARPHONES DEEPER IN YOUR EARCANALS! It's that simple! That's the only right way. Then you'll be rewarded with actually very rich bass performance (I MEAN REALLY GOOD!), total external noise removal and it holds in the ear like it was glued. Comparing to my already broken Sennheisers CX300II I had before, these Apple headphones are noticeably better in sound.
Apart from that, the overall design is absolutely the best on the market. You got the cable that doesn't vilely curl itself and is elegantly symmetrical (god i hate these asymmetrical cables), you got the ultimate remote (which you can also use with your Mac all the way), you got a straight minimalistic connector (what is the point of the "L" shaped ones??) and you got a durable hard case for them, which looks like a piece of art. And again - they DOESN'T POP OFF THE EAR, nor the rubber pads are falling off the earphones (It's not easy to remove them actually). Only thing I can't say is the long time durability.

    Beware

    • Written by from New York

The sound quality is no better than the standard Apple earbuds. They fall out of my ears when I run / walk no matter which size ear tip I try. I'm returning them. Not a good value.

    Don't waste your money

    • Written by from Glasgow

I wish I'd seen these reviews before I bought these headphones a month ago. The site I purchased thru didn't have this much feedback. I'm very disappointed in the lack of bass...the earphones that came in the box with my iPhone 6 have better sound quality, but won't stay in place. I've tried all three tip sizes that came with this earphones and these still won't fit properly or give the sound quality I'd like. I don't know if I have really small ears or the tips don't give enough variety of sizes for a correct fit. Based on some of the reviews I've read here, I may have to try some kind of replacement tips to see if it will help. Read all the reviews herecarefully before you consider if these are for you.

    Still love them.

    • Written by from Calgary

I've had these for 2 years now. With lossless content, great sound. However, the soft tips do only last several months. I've been able to get replacements from the Apple store, which works for me.
Keeping them in the original case all the time has kept them well.
The sound from these is fairly flat, but I like that because I can use the equalizer settings in iTunes to customize it for the genre I'm listening to.

    Beautiful but terrible.

    • Written by from RENO

Beautiful headphones, but terrible sound quality, as well mine didn't come with the extra mesh protectors. Great highs terrible lows. Doesn't matter which cushions you use. The headphones that come with the iPhones and iPods have way better sound qualities. Too bad they don't fit as well as these though. Not worth $80 due to sound qualities. Also why wouldn't these earbuds come with Apple products?

    Very Good Quality!

    • Written by from Montebello

The quality is very good. If you like bass don't consider it; these are not beats by dre. I wear these headphones for about 5 hours a day and they are very comfortable. Whether its making phone calls or listening to music I have no problems. I use the small buds and they sit in my ear perfectly. The stock headphones that came with my iPhone never stayed in so I got these instead. I also own the beats by dre tour 2.0 and I prefer Apple's in-ear headphones hands down.

Bad! DO NOT! I repeat DO NOT buy these

    • Written by from Weymouth

I bought these a few months ago because they looked really good and thought they might be better than the ear pods that come free with iPhones. Man was I wrong. The speaker on the left blew out within a couple weeks and I had to use one of the replacements that come with. The ear tips keep popping off like crazy. They give you replacement ones for those as well and I went through all but one of those. Then, the cord itself frayed and exposed the wires.

Needless to say, I went back to the ones that come free. Those are way better.

    Great headphones, have lasted well

    • Written by from Melbourne

I've had these headphones since early 2012, bought them on a friends recommendation and I loved the isolation and sound quality. I have had numerous other in-ear sealing headphones, including Sony noise-cancelling and expensive Etymotic headphones. I have found these the most comfortable and easy to wear for long periods, with an easy tonal balance and range that doesn't tire your ears out.

I'm buying a second pair for work now, because they have just the right amount of isolation for reading in the office.

Beautiful sound, bad plugs (for my ears anyway)

    • Written by from Reading

I've tried all 3 plug sizes and they just won't create a seal unless I ram them in and that's just uncomfortable. And even then the M/L sizes bounce out from even even the slightest movement while the small ones don't create a seal at all. I can wear them comfortably but then it doesn't make a proper seal and the sound ends up sounding tinny because of it.

That said, the sound quality is excellent when you can wear them properly. Just disappointed that you have to buy your own plugs for a pair of headphones that cost this much.

more comfortable than the standard 'buds, but lacking in sound quality

    • Written by from BERKELEY

bought these when i lost the original buds that came with my iPhone thinking they would sound better, and i did find them somewhat more comfortable than the stock units. however, i found the sound quality so tinny and seriously lacking on the low end that in less than 20 seconds they were on their way back to the store.

these don't sound any better than the freebies they give away at my office; very disappointing!

I had the other ear phones that cost $30 and they were way better, these in ear ones aren't as comfortable and these don't last as long at least in my case, not worth the extra money.

The earbuds just don't fall off! Good pair, little pricy for what you get.

    • Written by from Ponte Vedra Beach

I hate to hear people say the earbuds fall off of their ears. That's because they don't know how do wear them or they have never tried inear earbuds before. I have been wearing inear headphones for four years now. Till this day there has been no problem of earbuds falling off of my ears. Because I try all sizes of earbuds and go for the right size. And these Apple inear headphones earbuds just don't fall off. They are really comfortable and air tight if you choose the right size. I have bought a dozen of inear headphones in recent years.
I am not particularly impressed for the sound I get for the price I paid. Maybe because I tried Shure SE425 right before trying these for the first time or they haven't burned in yet. Still it's a decent pair. I've had klipsch Image S4 a few years back and they sounded slightly better than these. Because I suppose they were tuned to sound wonderful regardless what a music is supposed to sound when it was made. Just like Bose headphones adds 'fake but good' sound I heard. My AKG K77 I bought to practice guitar sounds better than this, too. Cause it has different specs, it's made for a different purpose. But these Apple inears sounds good for they give original sound I think. I bought them because they are the most affordable dual driver headphones. Design wise it's perfect, two drivers to fit in in such a tiny little thing. Other headphones have unnecessary shapes that I hate. I think these are good but little pricy for the sound. If you don't care for the dual drivers, go for the Klipsch Image S4, it was chosen as the best affordable in-ear headphones by CNet. Otherwise Apple in-ears are very nice, too.
Again, the earbuds just don't fall off. NO, THEY DONT!
