    Works well so far

    • Written by from Brownstown

    Fast = yes
    Easy = yes
Can it host files like a NAS = yes
To set this up you just have to log onto the router from each Mac computer

What would make this better? = convenient local sync like a personal cloud such as drop box or sugar sync

I'm still working on how to network attach a USB printer...

Amazing range and speed increase over old Airport X

    • Written by from Clackamas

I purchased the 3TB version ahead of purchasing my new Mac Pro this month. I wasn't expecting such a range and speed boost as I'm still only using the "n" technology in my devices. The third story of my home was always a slow connection and was an issue with streaming TV content through my Apple TV. Now I get full strength and over 20 Meg's per second instead of 3-4. Great Job Jony and team ID!

    Best router I've owned yet

    • Written by from Franklinton

Have had Linksys, Netgear and a couple of other non name brand routers through the years. But this Airport Time Capsule-2TB delivers fast, strong and reliable wireless signal anywhere in my home. To compare, I can be 100+ feet away with a small office, trees and several walls inbetween and still get 40 Mbps. Same spot with the linksys and netgear router I barely get 2-5 Mbps. Also the automatic backup to the Airport Time Capsule ensures flawless and complete back ups.

Apple, I sincerely thank you for consistently making such easy to use, high quality products.

Just got my new Time Capsule

    • Written by from Homestead

I outgrew my old Time Capsule so time for a new one. I bought the 2GB version and overall the set up was in true Apple style, dummy proof. Things were up and running in a matter of minutes. What I don't like is that it does not provide any configuration settings that will allow you to monitor internet traffic. Great router, very strong signals throughout the house. If it had some advance settings I'd be more generous with my ratings.

Even my Garage has strong signal now!

    • Written by from Aliso Viejo

I have owned an Apple Time Capsule since 2008. I appreciate the tight integration with Mac's Time Machine backups. This is my 3rd Time Capsule from Apple. It works flawlessly. But what is really amazing with the latest iteration is the strength of the wi-fi signal throughout my 1800 square foot, three level town home. It sits on the top floor. It covers every square inch of my town home with strong signals. But the "coup de gras" was my realization that my iPhone had full wi-fi strength in my garage (even outside of it)! I never had connections in the garage. Overall, this is another great time machine.

    Absolutely Fantastic!

    • Written by from Portland

Let me make a long story short - I've owned pretty much every brand of wireless router including D-Link, Netgear, and Motorola routers. My latest mistake was opting for a Motorola combo cable modem/WiFi router because it was about $100 cheaper than the AirPort Extreme and included the required cable modem. Boy was that a mistake. I live in a studio apt. with a small concrete wall dividing my bedroom from the living room, and I couldn't get a signal in bed. I resorted to buying a Netgear range extender, but it cut my speeds by about 90% so I finally gave up and just bought the AirPort. WHAT A DIFFERENCE! I now get 5 bars in my room with nearly 60 Mbps speed (on a 60 Mbps connection), and I couldn't be happier. This router is worth it's weight in gold. Save yourself a LOT of headaches with the other brands and get yourself one of these bad-boys now!

    Great Router. The Best Yet!

    • Written by from Phoenixville

I can't tell you how many high end routers I have had over the years (including other Airport models). This one I just tested and love it. It took only 2 minutes to set up. The key though is the range and throughput which are both better than any other router I have tried. Look, there are some people that say the wireless backup and access is a tad slow. That is true but it is wireless folks. If you are looking for the quickest speed for a extra drive go buy a WD raptor and plug it in to your computer via USB. I find the access time acceptable. If you are using it for Time Machine backups like me, it works in the background so you don't even know if it is fast or slow. Finally Apple designed and created a AirPort product up to the high build quality and performance of all their other products!

I bought the time capsule expecting maybe a slight increase in my wifi speeds and range. After the quick setup with my Verizon fios modem, I noticed that I was consistently getting twice the speeds on wifi through out my home.

Great Range, super easy to set up...

    • Written by from Greenwich

I tried FOUR different routers to replace my 500gig time capsule to get a better signal. No luck. I was about to settle for the n spec dark knight, when this week, BANG a new TC. I'll try it, I thought and I'm glad I did. Better range, no dead spots and 2 tb backup for $299 instead of separate router and hd for $280. Thanks again Apple.

    Apple removed SNMP

    • Written by from San Jose

I recently purchased one of these to replace my Airport Extreme that finally died. I was in a rush, going on out of town the next day for two weeks, so I didn't enough time to research it. For some reason Apple chose to remove SNMP which means I can no long monitor the device. Had I known this I would have purchased something else. Everything works fine so no complaint other then I am unable to monitor the device.

    Everything you can ask for!

    • Written by from Pittsburgh

I purchased this rougher due to the reliability issues I was having with my old one. I have had it for about a week now and am simply amazed at how much better this one is. The range coverage I am getting is almost twice as good as the old one. I also am averaging a speed thru the router 4-5mpbs faster than the old. This router is definitely worth the cost!

    As Advertised

    • Written by from Lawrenceville

I previously owned the Airport Extreme router from apple and had nothing but a positive experience for the years that I owned it. It was time for an upgrade for all our new IOS devices and iMacs so I took the plunge on the 2TB time capsule. After a slight roadblock with my cable companies modem everything works perfectly. The range is great for wifi as well. My apple TV is in the living room and is blocked by 5 walls and the signal is definitely stronger than the old one. The storage space is just right for my wife and I using two separate macs. All in all it was a great buy made even better with the iPhone app by purchasing the unit on the iPhone and picking it up 20 minutes later at the local apple store. Nice product, as advertised!

    Unreliable. Slow.

    • Written by from Fort Lee

Small wired and wireless environment of 8 desktops (iMacs ands Mac Minis) and 8 laptops (MacBook Pros and Macbook Airs). Clean reliable AC power to all computers and devices backed up by a huge battery bank.
Apple TimeCapsule requires frequent reboots. Gets warm.
    Made some improvements.
    Cooler environment.
Used a external WiFi, turned off internal WiFi.
Attached a external HDD. Did not use internal HDD.
Used a external router for network and Internet traffic.
Still required rebooting due to it not being recognized at times.
The storage is never visible outside the local LAN. Even DMZing the device failed to make it discoverable from outside the LAN. Gave up on that feature.
    No local encryption feature.

    Conclusion:
Not fit for a business environment, too slow, too unreliable, not secure.
A Mac Mini server would be better at all those things, however much more expensive and the WiFi antenna is poor.
To setup a workable Time Machine for a Apple environment is a bit messy and expensive.
No solution for Macs yet for easy, fast and reliable backups.

Fastest router I have ever had...67.8Mpbs/4.2Mpbs! My wife's Air up stair at the opposite end of our home is running 34/3.
Very easy to set up and I have all the back up space I will ever need.
    Well, maybe.

    Fixed my range problem...

    • Written by from Washington

I purchased this hoping it would cure my Wi-Fi access problem in the backyard. It worked!! The location of my outdoor audio equipment that I connect my iPad to is in a "Wi-Fi weak" corner. I was getting one or two signal bars on my iPad with the Airport Base Station. Now i'm getting 4 to 5 bars consistently. I was going to use the Airport Base Station as an extension, but there's no need as I have even better Wi-Fi signal coverage through out the house.

I haven't tried the Time Machine backup app yet, but I'm sure it will exceed my expectations.

    Great product

    • Written by from Lafayette

As all Apple products, this one is excellent. It's lightning fast due to the latest 802.11 ac speed. I've got an IPad Air and a MacBook Air both with ac and I can tell the difference. I had a Linksys EA2700 before which was a good product too, but didn't have the range or speed. The 2TB storage is also an excellent feature to back up the 3 Macs we have in the house.

What can I say. This device delivers - not surprised - I have recently become an Apple convert.

Left the windows world behind - for good.

Everything Apple designs is done with the user in mind.

This device is no different. Set up was easy and backing up my computer is no longer a thought - it's automatic and flawless.

    Best money spent

    • Written by from Clarence Center

I wanted to have an automated backup system for both my Mac and my brother's Mac. And I also wanted something that will help our internet as we are going to have our internet re-done in my home. I needed something to handle a lot of devices and this will do the trick. I absolutely love Apple and their products. I hear a lot of people say, "Once you go Mac, you never go back," and I absolutely DO NOT want to go back to Microsoft. It would be nice if Microsoft had something like this, oh wait, they probably don't have the power to make one since all their products catch viruses.
