I'm not sure why this got some bad reviews. Mine snapped right in to place the first try and it feels just as sturdy as the one on my full size iPad.

Simple, yet elegant. So glad I could get it to be an exact smaller version of my iPad!

I love my iPad mini SmartCover. I bought the green one because it looks good against the Slate body of my mini. Despite what most review say, I have yet to have an issue with my cover or it staying on. The magnets in mine are just fine, and the cover operates fine for normal use. No, it isn't the best in protection, but it's a great accessory for those who just need a screen cover when not in use. It will not compare to big bulky cases that are designed to genuinely protect the iPad.

The ipad mini Smart Cover works as advertised and is easy to use. The magnetic hinge is so strong that you can hold the ipad by the Smart Cover without it coming unattached. The only problem is that it gets dirty quite easy but thankfully you can wipe it off with a disinfectant wipe. I also wish it wasn't so expensive. I know a lot of people who want it but won't pay $40 for it.

    I returned the cover.

After investing in the mini, I wanted something that offered more protection. This cover does not protect the entire iPad, like the replacement I found does.

This one is pricey and honestly I ASSumed it would be awesome, since it came from Apple.

Not awesome at all, in my opinion

I bought a green and blue for my 10 and 6 year olds. I would not suggest this for children. They easily come off due to only being held on by magnets. My 6 year old takes it off because its more of a hassle than it is useful. Its a constant battle to keep it on.

This cover is actually pretty good, i have no idea why people say its so bad. The only reason that I put 4 stars is because of the price. When I looked at the reviews about the cover I hesitated to get it, but after i got it and used it it was worked really well. if u have an iPad mini and you want to get a cover this is the one for u. Btw I wrote this review with the cover on and it works good!

    To expensive for its functions

I got the iPad mini along with the smart cover and was very, very pleased with the iPad but the cover however didn't reach my standards. The cover is just a small version of the cover/case of the iPad. There is no way it should be the same price as the smart cover for the full sized iPad while the mini is practically half its size. It doesn't always stay in place when it snaps on (magnetically) which is frustrating. It also gets dirty very easily and can't really be cleaned efficiently because of the material. I must say it does do a good job protecting the screen of the Ipad, but then again you have to buy a specially made case to work with the cover. I think a 40 dollar case then additional money spent on a back case is just not worth it.

I'd love to have a back....

Works as it's supposed to for me. I have no problem with the magnet lining itself up. I just put it in the general direction and it clicks. I did notice, as someone else stated, that I get lines down the screen where the seams/folds are. But they aren't half as bad as my fingerprints all over it, so I don't mind that.

The only reason I did not give this 5 stars is that for the other iPads you can buy the smart cover WITH a back case for only $10 more. So, for everyone who already has purchased this, will we get the option to buy a back for only $10 when it finally comes out? Doubtful. But I really would love the whole thing for added protection.

I am really sorry to tell you this is not such a great product.

I have a normal iPad with a Smartcover, and it's working great, but the mini cover is not so good.

    - The hinge has a little tolerance in the magnets. This results in the cover not folding flat against the screen. The first of the 3hinges on the cover always bends a little bit, so the cover is not touching the screen. If I push the magnetic hinge up a little bit, the problem is gone, but every time you connect it, the gap is there again.

    - The hinge creates a lot of rimples . I have used it for 2 weeks and I am seeing lots of rimpels which will result in little hair-tears.

    - There is only 1 way to fold the cover, unlike the normal cover, you can only put it in "FaceTime / Movies " stand, and not the "keyboard" stand. I am missing this... ofcourse there will be a reason... but still.. I use it way more often in Keyboard mode..

    - The magnets are not strong enough. When you put the iPad in "FaceTime" mode, you can push the iPad out of its seating. A gentle push on top of the iPad results in it leaving its case and falling over. So, pushing it down with one hand, and typing with another is tricky. Typing with one hand, and not holding it... is worse. You will differently push it over that way.

So, I think the normal iPad cover is way beyond this one. The idea is great, but it just doesn't seem to work as great as on a normal iPad.

I walked in the Apple store, and they told me this is the expected workings of the cover. Okay, no problem, but I really think you can do better on this one!

I will keep it in use, because I cant really find a better aftermarket one which is as simple, light and easy to use as this one... But this is not the best thing that is possible.

    Thanks for reading!
    (sorry for any grammar mistakes)

I think the cover was a waste of money. I really wish I hadn't spent so much on it, since it really doesn't even stay magnetted to my iPad.

A lot of negative reviews on this product. Honestly, at first I found the cover quite flimsy and the typing orientation was useless. It would collapse all the time. As a stand it was always perfect. Two weeks into using it and I love it. Somehow the cover breaks in and is now working as advertised really well. The magnets are not the strongest, but then you should never hold the iPad from the cover, and risk having it detach from the device anyways. I love how stylish and vibrant the green looks with the slate mini. Maintains the from factor without adding bulk to the device. I have no regrets making this purchase and I would buy another if I ever needed it. I would rather have this cover with a sleeve for transport, than adorn my mini with a "case" and ruin the svelte and perfect form factor.

Seems like the majority of negative reviews think this case is bad because it's not the same as the one for the full-sized iPad which... why would it be? The case works for the Mini. The hinge is fine; yes, it's plastic, but it's sturdy. The magnet attachment will separate from the Mini if you're not careful. For example, I've found that, when using the case as a stand, I've had to hold the Mini when plugging in my headphone and or the case will separate from the Mini. Annoying, but it's not the end of the world. I haven't had any problems with the case disconnecting when I type, so I can't comment on that. I will say that I don't like how dirty the case has become in the month I've had it, but I guess that'll happen to any light colored case.

Pros-- 1. Light Cover, not bulky
    2. The tri-fold stand is pretty neat when you want it to stand your ipad-mini up
    3. Magnetic, so it snaps on with ease
    4. The hibernate function is really neat, once it closes it hibernates
    5. Soft and good feel

Cons- 1. Only covers front side
    2. Color isn't very vibrant, the recent red option would of been preferable
    3. Rather expensive for only a basic screen protector

Needs to have the option to buy one that covers front and back. The hibernation function is pretty neat though.

I loved the look, and sleekness to the cover, although, it doesn't protect the back, people make a big deal out of it. It is a great cover, and if you are hesitant on buying, don't be, because it is worth the money.

I have an IPAD 2 and could not wait to get the Mini. The cover is another story.... It's flimsy and keeps coming out of the pad. The magnet is not strong enough to hold it in place. Also, the folds do not work for me. Love all Apple products but, this is the one time I have bought something that I am returning for sure.
