The side magnet is outstanding, but the top magnet is very weak. If you hold the iPad upside down the cover will just hang by the side magnet. Watch youtube reviews for a demo. I returned mine.

I wish they made it so that the cover wouldn't keep coming off. It only attaches via a magnet so more often than not, when you're moving your ipad or trying to fold the cover to prop it up, it just comes off. Kind of disappointing for a $40 product. On the plus side, it does keep your mini light and thin and the "smart" idea is innovative.

Pretty disapointed with this cover. It is just a screen protector that doubles as a stand. While using as a stand, it is unstable. For protection, you are better off buying a full wrap around case. I would have returned it, but I bought it right before traveling and needed something to protect the screen while in my brief case.

The very cover that is supposed to protect the ipad actually damages it. Where the magnetic hinge attaches to the ipad it has caused the aluminium to scuff!

I really wanted to keep my iPad mini slim, and chose the Smart Cover instead of a bulky case/stand.

As a cover, it works well. I have not experienced the "weak magnet" issue some users are reporting; but as a stand, it's awful.

It slides around on any smooth surface (and yes, I'm folding it properly) and if you make any move toward the device at all - to adjust the volume or touch the screen, for instance - the iPad tips over and the stand collapses. I can't even use it on my nightstand as an alarm clock, as touching the screen to silence the alarm causes it to fall over.

I tossed the box and receipt (something I never do, but I've come to trust Apple...) before trying it out as a stand. I wish I hadn't - I would have returned it by now.

The first Apple product in which I have been truly disappointed.

Tried every kind from bargain ultra slim PU covers (they crack) to fancy leather upscale book types. (Too heavy). Now that I'm through the gamete, what am I back to? Apple Smart Cover. It's really all and everything you need guys. It may be pricy but I've spent more money trying out all the different types. All I'd recommend in addition, is an envelope zipper pouch for travel if its going to be bouncing around in a bag and a skin for the back if you're really paranoid about scratches. (I don't cover the back and it's still scratch free). Stays on, flips over to hold and warm your hand while reading, stands fine in both modes. Doesn't come off unless you take it off. Only problem is I wish there were more "grown up" colors.
