    Not so good for running

I run and Earpods keeps falling out of my ear. Also they bounce and hit my small earrings and make clicking sounds. I prefer the old earphones that came with iPod except that they don't have the remote control and mic.

    Nice sound, bad comfort

The sound that comes out of these phone is pretty good, certainly not as good as the professional phones I used on my job but my audio monitoring earphones cost ten times more. My big complaint is comfort and retention. The Apple EarPods are uncomfortable and fall out of my ears with the slightest head movement. A true audiophile will scrap these phones immediately, or better yet, give them to a friend with an old iPod. Then get a pair of mid priced over the ear headphones. They will sound better, block external noise better, and will stay put. The earphones Sony used to supply with the old Walkman are an adequate substitute for the EarPods.

sounds okay, still hurts my ears

Just got the new touch with the EarPods. Sound is good, but after half and hour they started hurting my ear :-( I guess have ears much smaller than average, and very different from the "test people" . I'll be going back to the small earbuds I finally found after much searching. Unfortunately they aren't meant for a iPod, so no radio antenna in the wire.

Sounds great, but bad mic/controls position

    • Written by from Santa Ana

I haven't seen anyone mention this, but the position of the microphone is higher than on the previous earphones. It is positioned in such a way that the collar of my shirt is constantly hitting the mic, so the person I'm talking to is constantly asking me what the ruffling noise is. If the mic was a bit lower (back to it's original position), these earbuds would be great.

The right earbud does seem to fall out when I use the controls to skip to next song. Again, this is because the controls are too close to the right earpiece, so grabbing the controls tends to move the earpiece out of place.

Sound quality is much better than the previous ones.

    Don't work for the runner

As much as I tried, I could not get them to stay in my ears while running. Great for sitting still or laying down, but in motion they are worthless. Still need the ear canal fit with the silicon rubber ear buds if you plan on excersing with them on. I also could not get them to function correctly with my 4th gen iPod shuffle.

Not a 5, but great sound.

I absolutely agree with every review on sound. You cannot argue the amazing sound quality. As the only one other person pointed out, these are not earbuds for the person on the go. They fall out. I cannot stop messing with them and pushing them back in. I think the problem is that not every ear is created equal. Why do you think that every earbud maker puts different silicon size attachments. The silicon also creates a stick fit and keeps it in place. I may have a bigger ear hole than most. ALMOST totally amazing. Now who's gonna make the silicon socks for these ear buds? I'll be on the lookout.

    BETTER SOUND NOT BETTER COMFORT

I was happy to hear that the new earpods were in stock at my nearest apple store, I quickly bought them because I was eager to see just how much better these headphones were than their predecessor, and at the price they are I didn't see any reason not to. So I quickly unravel them and try them out! I was pleased to hear the sound was very good and the bass was there as well. But after 2 songs in the uncomfortableness outdid my love of the audio. I thought they were going to be good sounding and good comfort but guess I can't have the best of both worlds. Maybe the numerous ears they scanned didn't include mine. So here we go with a 5/5 rating for sound quality and a 2/5 for comfort.

    Great sound, horrible comfort

As a sound technician and a musician, audio quality is essential for me. These EarPods put out sound quality that rivals some of the top companies (SkullCandy, Beats, Sony, etc.). The one issue I have with these are the comfort. Recently I broke my usual SkullCandy headphones and have been left with these for my everyday listening. At first they are fine but the longer you wear them the worse they get.

So for those that are interested in purchasing these, they are great for small amount of time use and being able to talk without holding your iPhone; but if you are trying to find EarBuds for long term listening sessions (studying, leisure, etc.) might I suggest a full ear pair of headphones.

    Work great, but expiration date?

Don't get me wrong; the EarPods work great. They actually stay in your ear, and the sound quality is spot on. The only problem I have is that recently, the right EarPod blew. I mean, no sound comes out. I never got any water on them, I never stepped on them, I never sat on them, so I don;t know what the deal is. The left one works fine, but the right one has gone mute. This a recurring problem for anyone? Because it's really bugging me. :(

    Do not fit my ears

    • Written by from Claremont

They sound great unfortunately as is the case for many reviewers they never stay in the correct position for optimal sound and they fall out completely quite easily. I'd rate them as two stars for me, four stars for people who can get a good fit so average to three stars. These are frankly quite a disappointment. Some kind of rubberized texture would have improved average fit immensely, Apple totally ignored function for style on this one.

    Fits wrong ear

These ear buds fall out of my ears and give poor quality sound when inserted as instructed. I switched them so the right bud with the mic is on my left, and they work super. Either my ear anatomy is weird or the designers are backwards.

    Did the design already change?

When I got these with my IP5 (September 2012) I was so happy. They fit my ear perfectly and the sound was awesome. Unfortunately I lost them so I bought a new pair from the Apple store and I immediately noticed a difference in the fit. Not nearly as comfortable.

Great sound but a bit painful to wear

    • Written by from Stamford

I had to give these 3 stars, because the sound is phenomenal, but they're incredibly painful to wear. I much prefer the fit of the more expensive, but infinitely more adjustable earbuds that Apple also sells in their line. My hope is that the designers incorporate some of the best elements of the EarPods into the next generation of earbuds. I guess I have tiny ears, because when I wear these for more than a few minutes I get a shooting pain in the area just above where the EarPods sit in each ear. I had the same problem with the previous generation. Still, the sound is superior to most earbuds I've tried and I've tried several different brands in the past few years. I just wish they were made of a little more pliable material.

The earpods were probably the best headphones I've ever used. The bass was good, and they were pretty clear to listen to music with. But they are not very durable. About a week ago the controller stopped working, than a few days later they just gave up. If you're interested in spending $40 to have headphones that will 8 months, be my guest. But I would not recommend them if you are looking for long term usage.

These headphones are excellent in sound quality and comfort for 30$. The treble does encounter some slight issues at high volume but everything is pretty good. The only problem is, following typical earbud fashion, they only last 3 months before the sound starts to go in one of the headphones.
