    Don't last long

    • Written by from Toronto

Over 2 years I have bought two sets of these earpods. Each pod has 2 speakers one at the side and a main one. the main one went bad on both sets. This is the third time I am getting a replacement. They sound fantastic for the price BUT, they don't last long..

    So much for bedtime listening...

    • Written by from Hungry Horse

It has a clear sound, sure, but the bass was so overwhelming that it hurt my ears and ruined my favorite bedtime music. I am seriously upset about this change. The earbuds that came with my iPod Touch 5 were perfect, but then they broke, thus I accidentally wasted money on this...

    Didn't last long

    • Written by from Kamrar

I had these headphones for about a year. Used them almost daily, mainly with my phone and computer. After about 4 months they started to get staticky and shocked me on multiple occasions. I kept using them because they were so expensive, and eventually the stopped. Recently the left right headphone has died completely. Considering that I bought these when the price was closer to $40, I really don't appreciate them dieing after such a short time.

I really like the built in remote, especially using my phone so I don't have to dig it out to change something, but they broke so fast that they weren't worth the price

    Great while they work

    • Written by from Lakewood

I bought these about 6 months ago. I don't do any heavy listening; nothing loud, and only during my 9-5 shift. Up until last week, they were great. The style and shape took a little getting used to, but the sound was amazing. Now, the left earbud has decided to stop working, not completely but the sound quality is so miniscule I can hardly hear it. I feel like I've wasted $30. I've had $10 headphones last years, but for something so (relatively) expensive to not last even a year is pretty shoddy. I can't say I'm happy with the purchase.

    • Written by from Minneapolis

I got my iPhone like 30 days ago...just 30 days mind you...and I have had to get my third pair of earpods already...the very first time the left earpod stopped working completely....then in the second pair...the volume suddenly went terribly low...so even a full volume I couldn't hear loud music...it sucked!!! Now I have my fingers crossed that this third pair works properly.... Please APPLE this must be a genuine problem...

    Good Sound. Poor Fit.

    • Written by from Riverside

I have owned these headphones a total of 24 hours and I've already got earaches in both ears and the beginnings of a blister in my right one.

I am a big fan of Mac technology. And with the last many pairs of the old style Mac headphones I've never been disappointed. The quality with the actual headphones has improved if anything from the old ones. I'm really impressed by the sound (I'm an amateur and I can tell the difference) and the improved input mic that diminishes background noise (a HUGE bonus since I use headphones as my hands-free device). However they are very, VERY uncomfortable to wear.

Even for all their improvements, I'm already averse to using them because they hurt. I've also noticed that they feel like they might pop out if I don't put them in exactly the right way.

I know that Apple products have a history of having to use items "just the right way" (the original iphone mic problem anyone?), but this product isn't well suited for general audiences. It's not convenient to have to constantly readjust the buds to stop your eyes from tearing up from the pain.

I've noticed that several of the reviewers who had issues with this product were women. Being also of the female gender and having smaller ears. I'm thinking that Mac didn't include women in their calculations when they made the bold claim that the new design made the EarPods "...more comfortable for more people than any other earbud-style headphone."

    It's just simply not true.

For the quality, I think these headphones are great for $30. That being said, I'd trade them in a heartbeat for any leading competitor brand that offered gel pads or cushions.

Mac, please make these headphones more comfortable. I know that you can do better with your designs.

    Not a good fit

    • Written by from Salt Lake City

I have to keep pushing them into my ears to get a good sound. The sound is wonderful, but they dang buds keep falling out. This is very frustrating.

I have to say that if they would go in just a bit farther, they would be just right. They don't hurt my ears the way some others I have tried do. Maybe duct tape them in?

Just dropped them on my night table and the cover of the left bud crack opened. Closed it but the left bud doesn't work. Used to sound good though.

Sound great but always fall out

    • Written by from Redmond

I will say they do sound really great. Not enough bass, but that's just me. Anyways, they have a hard time staying in. And by hard time, I mean they simply don't stay in. I move around quite a bit, and they constantly fall out. Sound quality doesn't count for much if they can't stay in.

    Good sound, bad fit

    • Written by from Kingston Springs

If Apple had spent as much effort with the fit as they did with the sound, these EarPods could potentially earn a five out of five. Unfortunately, the design of the EarPods is clumsy and does not stay in your ear except when you are perfectly still. Running especially presents a challenge when your EarPods are continually falling out every 30 seconds or so. I am disappointed with Apple and I hope they do better with their next product.

They are good but the right earbud broke within a month

    • Written by from north hollywood

I would use them to exercise and in a short period of time the right ear stopped working. I thought they would be too good of quality to break so fast but I don't know.

    Improved Sound Quality, Fitting Issues

    • Written by from Irvine

Sound quality is better than previous ear buds but what's the point of developing an improved sound when they're not going to fit the widest range of users. Controls and mic are on par with what to expect from Apple -- they work and they work well.

    Cons:

    - not incredibly comfortable as advertised
    - definitely not stable in your ears
    - can't do sports with this earphone at all
    - wires do tangle easily

waist of money - there are better choices on the market

    Halfway Decent...Just

    • Written by from Rego Park

I wanted to like these. I thought they would fit well, and the comparisons to "higher end" headphones was intriguing. Now I am glad they were free.

First, they do not fit all that well. Larger ears means more wiggling and constant re-positioning. As they move the sound becomes tinny. Just plain annoying. On the street they are almost useless, not just because they shift after a mere ten steps, but more so because they are drowned out by minor street noise.

As to the sound signature, I compared them to my cheap Philips SHE2000, and all I can say is KUDOS TO PHILIPS! The sound on the Apple Earpods has obviously been tuned to accent the bass, but that bass is muddy, with very little detail in the sub-bass. Mids are drowned out and sound like mere tin instruments. Highs, while sometimes mellow, often sound harsh and sibilant. There is a sense of sound separation at times, but it isn't natural sounding. Better than previous earbuds from Apple for sure, but still garbage.

My cheap Philips (I mean $7.99 cheap) have a richer, fuller sound without over-emphasizing the bass. For classical, jazz, acoustic, singers etc. they are wonderful. They actually sound more like my Bose OE2 than the earpods. Sound is natural and clear, mids are distinguishable from highs, and bass is just right. There is very little harshness, and foam pads help if there is. Outside, these fit so well int he ear that they block out most noise, and the sound level can be kept much lower than the earpods. They also do not slip out, and are comfortable for hours.

Don't be fooled by price or brand, the earpods are cheap throw ins and are not worth the price. Try something else, you will find better.

    GET ALL THE WAY REAL!!

    • Written by from Tampa

Seriously these are the worst! Stop playing around and put some freaking padding on these things! Claps to the genius that finally realized ear holes are not round but COME ON! My ears ALWAYS hurt after wearing these for more than 5 minutes. People are just so far up Apples a++ that they say these are amazing when they really aren't. And my goodness can they come in another color or do we have to keep suffering with these "only white for two uses" ones?!

ear pods will not stay in my ears

    • Written by from Minneola

I love the music and the sound that comes out of these ear pods but the reason I am writing this review is they will not stay in my ears. If i turn my heard they fall out, when I run they fall out (I run every day) even when I walk they fall out. If they would stay in my ears, they would be the best ear pods I have ever owned. I ended up buying a set of yur buds and they are great also (not as good of quality as apple) but the microphone broke after a month. Apple, come up with some type of ear phones that will stay in your ears.

    Painful

    • Written by from Sewickley

My EarPods lately have given me nothing but pain in my ears. I wear my headphones a lot and these have actually given me scabs in my ears. I love most Apple products, but I'm really hoping they reconsider these. The sound is amazing, when I can get them to stay in my ear without a sharp pain.

Here's the deal: they sound (finally) up to par with other earbuds. Compared to apple's previous earbuds-the super uncomfortable, hard plastic white ones-yeah they sound and feel better. I think the lower mid range has been improved, yes. Ultimately though, these are still terribly uncomfortable to wear for more than 20 minutes. Why any Apple engineer would think that rigid plastic stuffed in your ear (regardless of its shape) would be comfortable, is beyond me.
