    For free/cheap head-phones

    • Written by from Rooksbridge

So I use a pair of Bose headphones most of the time (out of ear noise cancelling ones - can't remember the model...) The Bose are far superior but you would expect that.

I also have a £30 Koss in ear set and though the base is better on the Koss, over all sound quality feels equal.

You will struggle with back ground sound effecting your listening but I have to say, it was about time apple stepped up there headphones (been saying it for years) and this is a significant improvement putting them in the middle of the 'phones market and now they are something I use not just throw away. buying them for £30 ish is a very fair price for a well made headphone.

    Great for the size

    • Written by from Wheeling

These are excellent little headphones for the size. They have good full sound. However they're a little small for my ears. I wouldn't use these to work out as they'd fall out of my ears but for someone with a smaller ear they're great.

My old apple earbuds lasted me 3 years with daily workout, jogs etc. Pretty unheard of. They weren't terrible sounding except that it was near impossible to isolate the sound leaving much to be desired. These new earpods are superb. Traded in my 200$ earbuds for these and i'm thrilled about it. Rich sound, base and great fit. Will see how they hold up again sweat, fingers crossed but honestly for the money you'd be hard pressed to find such an awesome package (sound+mic+in line controls).

One thing I wish apple would consider designing for these are some sort of rubber tips.

    Not half bad!

    • Written by from Rancho Cucamonga

I purchased the EarPods because I was curious and they were only $29. I thought "What the heck." Initially, the fit did not work as the "pods" fell out of my ears just like the older Apple earbuds. I was slightly disappointed, but thought if I used the small black sponge-like mesh cover on the buds and put them on the pods, it might just work. Hooray! The fit was better and they pods stayed in my ears. With the pods stuck in my ear now, I can hear the difference in sound as opposed to the original earbuds. They are on par with my Bose in earbuds that are priced several times higher than these.

    Superb sound quality!

    • Written by from Issaquah

The sound quality for these earpods is incredible. I've been a diehard fan of the Bose in ear headphones for use with iPod/iPhone. If you like the Bose you will like these. Only downside is that they tend to easily fall out of my ear when moving a lot because the buds are plastic and not ruberrized. But that's just a minor annoyance for me since I'm usually just sitting at my desk mostly immobile.

    30$ well spent.

    • Written by from milan

I drove over an hr and entered a super crowded Apple store to get my hand on a pair of these and let me tell you for 30$ i couldn't be more happy. I am all out fan of rock music and the base come out in all the music i listen to beautifully. Some people say the treble is lacking and i agree some but after EQ its beautiful and 30$ is just so affordable. A very good buy.

A step in the right direction

    • Written by from Macomb Township

The new Apple EarPods are absolutely better than their predecessor. It has been a long time coming for Apple to redesign their earphones and they have done a superb job. The fit is snug and does not feel that they will fall out. The range of sound (high, mid, low) is smooth and they even produce bass. The remote buttons are larger now, including the middle pause button, which makes volume control/song control a lot more manageable. Now, these are not to be compared to high end headphones or in ear phones. These are definitely a great pair for the $29.99 price, a nice upgrade if you still use the original Apple earphones.

They are not noise cancelling. For many this may not be an issue but ambient outside noise does require a user to ensure the volume is cranked.

Sounds great but hands free intermittently cuts out

    • Written by from Dulwich Hill

Don't get me wrong - these are a great sounding pair of headphones for the price and I'm thankful they came with my iPhone 5. The only problems I had were:
    1) The person on the other end would cut out while I was on handsfree. They would intermittently fade out and come back in. It felt like the mic on my end thought I was speaking and was cutting the audio from the other person out prematurely.
    2) There is a fair bit of wind noise when wearing these headphones while riding. It doesn't form a seal like other headphones so it might be expected.

    Otherwise, great in-ear headphones.

These are really nice headphones, way better than the old ones. They're louder and they fit into my ears way better. But coming from from in-ear buds, it was odd for a few days, but I eventually got used to it. So if you're coming from buds, not headphones like these, give them a few days.

Good headphones but don't fit in your ears well.

Amazing headphones. Great bass. Great acoustics, but for people with slightly bigger ears, they don't fit too well.

    Four and Three Quarter Stars

I bought a set of these EarPods a week ago. They are by far the best earbuds I've used to date! The sound quality is superior to every other earphone I've owned - including some rather expensive in-ear canal ones. The only criticism I have, and the reason for the 4 3/4 star rating instead of 5 stars, is the location of the control buttons on the right earphone cord, which I find very awkward and usually results in the right earphone falling out of my ear. Otherwise, they're an absolutely brilliantly designed and engineered product!

I was amazed from the first beat. Much better sound than the original Apple earphones, amazing bass. They are a bit hard to get them into your ear, but once they are in, they fit nicely.

Apple's traditional earbuds have never fit my ears and always hurt. I think my ears are a little smaller too, so they would fall out. I actually spent $80 on apple's in-ear headphones (which i love, but don't carry around on a daily basis). I just got my iPhone 5, and after playing with my new phone for hours, I finally got around to checking out the new EarPods. First off, as of right now, stupid name...it just doesn't roll off the tongue like iPod, but maybe that's just because the iPod has been around for 10 years.
Anyway, I'm going to do this on a scale...10=great
Based on comfort: in-ear headphones are about an 8/10...old earbuds were about a 2/10. These ear pods are around a 6/10...HUGE improvement.
Sound quality: in-ear 9/10, old earbuds 3/10, ear pods 7/10
The in-ear headphones always feel like they are falling out, but they're usually not.
The old earbuds feel like they're falling out and usually they ARE.
The new ear pods feel great, like they're staying in, and yes, they ARE staying in my ears. Love these things!

    Amazing but Noisy

I tried them today when my friend's iPhone 5 arrived. They do sound truly wonderful, but anyone around you will also hear what you are listening to and that is unacceptable in a public place like a bus, subway or train...shame.

    What an improvement!

    • Written by from Fairport

I have to say I've always hated the earphones Apple included but I decided to give these a try and much to my surprise there has been a HUGE improvement in the overall quality of Apple's earphones. I've been looking for a set of good earphones that are not sound-isolating to use for work as I regularly get interrupted by co-workers who have questions for me and I was getting tired of taking my sound-isolating earphones out constantly throughout the day.

The EarPods sound great and still give me enough outside noise to be able to decipher what someone is saying when they're talking to me. It's also very handy to have the ability to pause my music by hitting the button on the cord.

Thanks Apple for finally listening! These are a vast improvement!
