While the sound quality of these headphones is phenomenal, they are too big for my ears and are very uncomfortable!

I have to use tape over my ears to keep them in ...

    • Written by from Houston

Granted, they DO sound very good. BUT, they fall out of my ears very easily. So they're not for everyone. I'm trying to find some sort of attachment that will keep them in place so that I don't have to use adhesive tape every time. I jog two steps and they fall right out. Ridiculous.

Two stars only for sound quality which is very good indeed. But..the third pair of earphones goes to trash after 2 months of extremely careful usage. The left earphone stopped working. I work in Africa and apple store is out of reach.
Never will buy them again even despite of their price.

Apple EarPods- Not quite what they used to be?

    • Written by from Lake Stevens

I was very excited to get some new Apple headphones, as my old ones had taken a beating and no longer functioned. I liked the appearance of the new headphones and bought a pair at Best Buy. The fit, turns out, is not so great (at least for me). The pointed ends of the Pods tend to poke the insides of my ears. Though they worked, so I kept using them. After about two months, something happened to the plating or wiring because audio was distorted and ruined. I plugged the headphones into my Macbook to see if it was the Pods or my phone, and the problem persisted. To conclude, I would not recommend this gen. of headphones, the previous iPhone headphones were a much better product, in my experience. Some options of earbud sizes would be a good idea.

They have great sound but totally don't stay in my ears at all so I am giving mine away to hubby. The dollar store ones ...at least they stay in my ear but have to give up the quality of sound.....but these only one stays in my ear and mono is all I hear. Lol

So off to the apple store see if there's ones that fit!

Look Great & Feel Awful - I want my old ones

    • Written by from Chattanooga

I made the mistake of lending the ear pods that came with my 4S to a coworker and never got them back. He was kind enough to buy me a new pair of cheap-o ones as compensation but they just weren't the same.
So I went to my local Mac provider and much to my dismay, the design of the basic ear pods had changed. Worried about the new design - although aesthetically beautiful - I went for it.
Our relationship started out great, as they always do, but after several wears that little seam in the mold of the plastic around the part that goes into your ear just really got annoying. I won't say painful, but very, very uncomfortable, especially in my left ear (strange...). It's an itchy, weird feeling that lingers even when you take them out.
Maybe I just have sensitive skin there or small ears, I do not know, but it's sure to say I am disappointed especially since the sound quality is great. I wish I could find my old backup pair but I may just resort to the cheap spongy ones my coworker gave me or steal some from a family member. Neither of which I prefer to do...'tis a sad day in ear pod land.

    Not for Exercise Use

    • Written by from Edinboro

These EarPods work fine while I'm sitting still, but I mainly use headphones to listen to music on my iPhone while tracking my exercise workouts. When I'm running they will not stay in my ears. Every 3 to 5 steps they fall out.

Loved these headphones but they broke within about a month and a half of getting them. The sound quality is great for 30$ but if I have to buy a new pair every other month I'd rather get another kind entirely.

IVE had them for a little over a month and just last week the side with the mic completely went dead. I lost control of it. Only the left side works. i took good care of them. Now its just a waste of money.

    Loose and Slippery

    • Written by from Markham

The sound quality and the ability to control the volume and song play is great but the the ear buds keep slipping out of my ear. Maybe if it wasn't such a smooth surface around the area that goes into your ear or if they provided textured "bumpers" that you could cover the bud with to help keep them in place. This is a huge disappointment because it means I can only rely on them to stay securely in place when I'm sitting at the office listening to music. Any walking/running means I'll be constantly fumbling and pushing them back into my ear. These earpods would've been perfect otherwise.

kind of a let down. apple has been all about how ears are shaped weird and why would you want headphones that are circular when ears aren't circular, but these headphones fall out of my ears constantly. i had to buy different ones because the slightest touch to the cord would make them fall out of my ear. unless they give you them for free with a new device i wouldnt suggest buying them. that being said i will say that the sound quality is pretty good.

Poor quality - don't last long

    • Written by from Brooklyn

I got these with my iPhone 5 last winter and now only 1 of the earbuds works. When they did work, I compared them to the old apple earbuds I had lying around and found the older ones to have a slightly richer sound quality to them (maybe something to do with the bass levels), Overall sound is pretty good (when it works) and I do like the in-ear feature to prevent leakage. I just wish they were made with higher quality standards and built to last (the old ones did last much better). I'll probably end up replacing them so...maybe apple is okay with the quality being poor.

    Horrible size, great sound

    • Written by from Lacombe

I recieved these with my new iPhone 5. I love the sound output from these, however, as I have tiny ears, these either fall out constantly, or if I do manage to keep them in for any period of time, start to hurt my ears after just a few minutes of wear.
I wish they were just a bit smaller and had a slight rubbery/grippy texture on them to prevent them from slipping out.
They do have really great sound though. :( too bad that I can't use them.

i bought 2 pairs from the apple store, with the first pair within a month the right earphone stoped working, and honestly their great headphones! if you have both of them :(, with one it sounds very obsolete, and it made it harder for me to hear out of my left ear. With the second pair i was much more careful with them, and the right earphone, AGAIN stop playing music. now i do not have headphones :(. and if it helps, i only used the ipod 4th gen with them. strangely enough the controller (witch is located on the right side) still works on both. i hate to say this (because i really like the company) but i see why so many people hate apple :/.

    Great while they lasted

    • Written by from Lexington

I got these for Christmas, and they sound great! Definitely a step up from the old stock earphones that would come with iPhones and iPods. These Earpods fit my ears well and rarely fall out. The mic quality is also pretty good and I can get a good sound without having to hold it up to my mouth. My favorite part of these EarPods are the volume control. The controls are built nicely and I have no problem pausing and playing tracks. Skipping tracks can be either a hit or a miss, sometimes it skips, sometimes it just ends up pausing the song.
What I don't like is just a few days ago the right ear stopped working and I can only hear sound coming from the left EarPod. This is pretty disappointing and I was hoping this wouldn't happen like it has with other Apple earphones. Alas, for $30, these aren't so bad. I'd definitely recommend them.
