    Haven't found anything better

    • Written by from Little Rock

Sound quality & comfort of earbuds are very personal & subjective things. That said, I've tried Klipsch, Bose, & Harmon Kardon earbuds that cost $100-$150. I listen to rock, pop, blues, & some jazz. I am a hobbyist musician & consider myself to have a pretty discerning ear. In the under $200 price range, I have not found any ear buds with better overall sound quality or comfort. I have not tried custom fit earbuds (that usually cost over $400) so I can not comment any any comparison to that category of earbuds. EarPods produce deep, rich, balanced sound & stay in my ear without causing discomfort. Unless you're looking for over the ear, true noise canceling headphones, for $29 (or free with your new iPhone) these are pretty much all you need.

    Terrible

    • Written by from salt lake city

I don't know if these things sound good or not. There is no way for me to get them to stay in my ears. Soon as I move my hands away they fall out. Completely useless. Would rate zero stars if I could.

    Not Just "For the Price"

    • Written by from Patterson

I listen mostly to orchestral classical music. For this, you need much more than "great bass." In fact, when 50 or more instruments are playing at once, bloated bass can get in the way. What you need is balance from top to bottom. I have a pair of IEMs that deliver it just right. But in search of 'outer' earbuds that provide similar balance, I've tried $10, $15, $40, $80, $100, and $140 buds. All respectable brands. And I find every one of them distracting in some way. One sounds tinny. Another, toylike. A few sound too murky at the bottom. One is refreshingly clean and open, but lean--too lean to faithfully reproduce the sound of a full size orchestra. I've tried each one with earpads, without earpads, and with donut-foams. And none of it is satisfactory. Sure, these higher priced buds might enable me to hear a flutist take a breath or a cellist turn his page, but there is always some aspect of the music that is annoyingly out of balance.

And now I try Apple ear pods, and find them . . . the best. Deep, rich, clean, crisp. And balanced. I can listen to the music without being distracted by some recurring idiosyncrasy. AEPs just give me the music.

Now, I find this disturbing. Why should so many more-expensive earbuds have such significant flaws or deficiencies when a pair of $30 ear pods can get it right? I don't know the answer. Of course, sound quality is a subjective thing, so maybe it's my ears that are flawed and deficient. But at the proverbial end of the day, I have to trust my ears over the reviews, experts, and critics. And the Apple ear pods sound, to me, just right. Balanced. And not just "for the price."

    EarPods

    • Written by from Mylor

I got my Apple EarPods with my iPhone 5s for christmas in 2013. I was extremely impressed with the quality of sound and they made my music sound 10 times better then it did with the old Apple earphones. I have been very pleased with the quality up until now. I have owned the EarPods for under a year and the left EarPod has stopped working. It started to go faulty a few days before it stopped working completely. I would have to keep pushing it into my iPhone to keep both EarPods working. I am torn because I love these EarPods and the sound is incredible, but If they had lasted longer I would have rated them 5 stars.

    Don't last long

    • Written by from Toronto

Over 2 years I have bought two sets of these earpods. Each pod has 2 speakers one at the side and a main one. the main one went bad on both sets. This is the third time I am getting a replacement. They sound fantastic for the price BUT, they don't last long..

    Not long lasting

    • Written by from Chicago

Apple is increasingly lowering the quality of their not flagship products. This broke a little over a year after purchase. Previous Apple headphones lasted me for several years. It did, however, sound better than than their previous model and was better fitting in my ear, but I'm giving it one star solely on the longevity. I mean, they broke my trust, I'm hesitant to buy an apple replacement now.

Practical, efficient, and forgiving. SURVIVED WASHING MACHINE AND DRYER.

    • Written by from Central Point

Firstly, I'd like to say that I love the remote feature. I know it sounds like a first-world thing to say, but it truly is a wonderful convenience to have that, especially while I'm running.

However, the reason I came to write this review is has nothing to do with the remote. Here's the story: so I'm studying in college in Hungary, and it's much more of an expense and hassle to buy these here than in the States. One fine morning I realized that it was laundry sign-up day and my clothes were way overdue. Naturally, I dumped everything in the basket labelled with name, paid, and forgot about it. That night, I retrieved my neatly folded clothes and left them next to my bed. When I grabbed my favorite sweatshirt at 3:30 the next morning, I noticed a crackle in my pocket. It was one of the papers I had so foolishly written in pencil on actual paper. Washed and dried. As I began searching through the rest of my clothes, I found that I had washed and dried THE REST OF THE SEMESTER'S WORTH OF HOMEWORK. All of it. No biggie, right? The semester was half over and I was ahead. It would be easy to redo. So I set that problem aside to go on my 4:00 am run.

My earphones were not where I thought I left them.

It was dark, though, and my roommates were sleeping so I couldn't perform a thorough search. So I settled for my backup pair of Sony earphones with only one working earbud. There was a lump in the small, upper-arm pocket of my running jacket. After my run, I investigated. IN WAS MY PAIR OF APPLE EARPODS. Washed and tumble dried low.

For the next four weeks, I relied on my half-operational Sony earbud. At last, during a scheduled dorm cleaning, I decided it was high time to get closure and throw away my favorite pair of Apple earphones. But first, I plugged them into my iPhone and hit play to Coldplay's "Viva La Vida."

They crackled once, then played the ringing notes with full sharpness and clarity of sound.

These EarPods survived the trauma of Hungarian a washer machine, iron-rich water, and a (slightly inadequate) dryer machine.

I still need to rewrite all my papers, but once I sat down, I felt that it would not be just to postpone writing this review any longer. So as I go back to my papers, I just want to say: these EarPods are awesome.

    So much for bedtime listening...

    • Written by from Hungry Horse

It has a clear sound, sure, but the bass was so overwhelming that it hurt my ears and ruined my favorite bedtime music. I am seriously upset about this change. The earbuds that came with my iPod Touch 5 were perfect, but then they broke, thus I accidentally wasted money on this...

    Didn't last long

    • Written by from Kamrar

I had these headphones for about a year. Used them almost daily, mainly with my phone and computer. After about 4 months they started to get staticky and shocked me on multiple occasions. I kept using them because they were so expensive, and eventually the stopped. Recently the left right headphone has died completely. Considering that I bought these when the price was closer to $40, I really don't appreciate them dieing after such a short time.

I really like the built in remote, especially using my phone so I don't have to dig it out to change something, but they broke so fast that they weren't worth the price

    Apple earpods

    • Written by from cedar springs

As a long time music consumer, who has spent more than he should on speakers headphones and most recently earbuds...I am so happy with the sound quality of my Apple EarPods! The sound equals or exceeds most products at five times the price. As for the dubious remarks on longevity and comfort....bull I've drifted off to sleep many pleasant evenings and awoke with EarPods still in place. 8 months of everyday use at least 4 hours a day. If they die I won't hesitate to buy another pair. Thanks apple!

The sound quality is good however it is super uncomforable to wear, after a few minutes your ear lobe starts to hurt. Apple please redesign the shape of the plugs or use a softer material

If you love your ears, DON'T BUY THESE!!

    • Written by from Sainte-Catherine

These are the worst things that I have ever had the misfortune to put in my ears. The crazy design makes it impossible to hear anything unless you are willing jam them down into your ear canals and run the risk of losing your hearing permanently.

The person who designed these things may have ears the size of Saint-Bernard's, but the rest of us don't. I have to pull mine out after less than 30 minutes of use. And don't even get me started on how the speakers are placed in the pod ...

I could have purchased something less expensive (paid $40) that not only provided great sound, but was also pain-free. Oh yeah ... let's not forget the carrying case, which is one of the reasons I purchased these particular earpods. Once you get the pods out, you can't keep them connected AND store them in the case; it's either one or the other - USELESS!

I gave this a rating of one star, but it doesn't even deserve that!

    great sound but bad connector

    • Written by from Charlotte

The new design earbuds sound really good but now the third pair that I have purchased have the same connector problems. When plugged in they make popping and clicking sounds. I would just twist them until they sound normal. But now two out of three pairs do not work at all.

Don't let you even think of other earplugs!

    • Written by from Rohini

    Undoubtably!
It is impossible to find any such headphones, especially at this price.
These earphones have the best sound quality, I have ever heard. This piece of unbelievable tech, enables you to focus high quality sound, right towards your eardrums, enabling you to hear the quality of sound, that makes having evolve ears, worthy. Can correctly be termed SASEW(Sound Amplification By Stimulated Emission Of Waves) after revolutionary LASERS.

Better than I thought they would be

    • Written by from Spring

I got these with my iPhone 6. They are pretty comfortable for the first 30mins of wearing and then start to hurt the inside of my ears. I am usually using my Skull Candy 50/50 that have a deeper bass than these but are also $25 higher in price. For the money (if i would have paid for these separately) I would feel they are worth the $30. I think anyone that buys these will be surprised by how good they sound.

    Horrible

    • Written by from Pottstown

I think most of these positive reviews are written by apple themselves. these headphones are amazing for the first month then after that they break. the cord is not durable and the headphones lose their sound. Especially, paying $29 for these is not reasonable at all. I wish apple would have let me know how quick their things break
