    Good sound, bad fit

    • Written by from Kingston Springs

If Apple had spent as much effort with the fit as they did with the sound, these EarPods could potentially earn a five out of five. Unfortunately, the design of the EarPods is clumsy and does not stay in your ear except when you are perfectly still. Running especially presents a challenge when your EarPods are continually falling out every 30 seconds or so. I am disappointed with Apple and I hope they do better with their next product.

They are good but the right earbud broke within a month

    • Written by from north hollywood

I would use them to exercise and in a short period of time the right ear stopped working. I thought they would be too good of quality to break so fast but I don't know.

    Improved Sound Quality, Fitting Issues

    • Written by from Irvine

Sound quality is better than previous ear buds but what's the point of developing an improved sound when they're not going to fit the widest range of users. Controls and mic are on par with what to expect from Apple -- they work and they work well.

An ordinary earphone of $3 worth

    • Written by from Moscow

    Cons:

    - not incredibly comfortable as advertised
    - definitely not stable in your ears
    - can't do sports with this earphone at all
    - wires do tangle easily

waist of money - there are better choices on the market

    Halfway Decent...Just

    • Written by from Rego Park

I wanted to like these. I thought they would fit well, and the comparisons to "higher end" headphones was intriguing. Now I am glad they were free.

First, they do not fit all that well. Larger ears means more wiggling and constant re-positioning. As they move the sound becomes tinny. Just plain annoying. On the street they are almost useless, not just because they shift after a mere ten steps, but more so because they are drowned out by minor street noise.

As to the sound signature, I compared them to my cheap Philips SHE2000, and all I can say is KUDOS TO PHILIPS! The sound on the Apple Earpods has obviously been tuned to accent the bass, but that bass is muddy, with very little detail in the sub-bass. Mids are drowned out and sound like mere tin instruments. Highs, while sometimes mellow, often sound harsh and sibilant. There is a sense of sound separation at times, but it isn't natural sounding. Better than previous earbuds from Apple for sure, but still garbage.

My cheap Philips (I mean $7.99 cheap) have a richer, fuller sound without over-emphasizing the bass. For classical, jazz, acoustic, singers etc. they are wonderful. They actually sound more like my Bose OE2 than the earpods. Sound is natural and clear, mids are distinguishable from highs, and bass is just right. There is very little harshness, and foam pads help if there is. Outside, these fit so well int he ear that they block out most noise, and the sound level can be kept much lower than the earpods. They also do not slip out, and are comfortable for hours.

Don't be fooled by price or brand, the earpods are cheap throw ins and are not worth the price. Try something else, you will find better.

    GET ALL THE WAY REAL!!

    • Written by from Tampa

Seriously these are the worst! Stop playing around and put some freaking padding on these things! Claps to the genius that finally realized ear holes are not round but COME ON! My ears ALWAYS hurt after wearing these for more than 5 minutes. People are just so far up Apples a++ that they say these are amazing when they really aren't. And my goodness can they come in another color or do we have to keep suffering with these "only white for two uses" ones?!

ear pods will not stay in my ears

    • Written by from Minneola

I love the music and the sound that comes out of these ear pods but the reason I am writing this review is they will not stay in my ears. If i turn my heard they fall out, when I run they fall out (I run every day) even when I walk they fall out. If they would stay in my ears, they would be the best ear pods I have ever owned. I ended up buying a set of yur buds and they are great also (not as good of quality as apple) but the microphone broke after a month. Apple, come up with some type of ear phones that will stay in your ears.

    Painful

    • Written by from Sewickley

My EarPods lately have given me nothing but pain in my ears. I wear my headphones a lot and these have actually given me scabs in my ears. I love most Apple products, but I'm really hoping they reconsider these. The sound is amazing, when I can get them to stay in my ear without a sharp pain.

    Meh...nothing new.

    Sound: 3.5 stars
    Comfort: 1 star
    Cable: 4 stars
    Case: 2 stars
    Microphone: 3 stars
    Controls: 2 stars

Here's the deal: they sound (finally) up to par with other earbuds. Compared to apple's previous earbuds-the super uncomfortable, hard plastic white ones-yeah they sound and feel better. I think the lower mid range has been improved, yes. Ultimately though, these are still terribly uncomfortable to wear for more than 20 minutes. Why any Apple engineer would think that rigid plastic stuffed in your ear (regardless of its shape) would be comfortable, is beyond me.

    • Written by from Avondale

I personally give a 5 stars in quality sound, but I don't use this earphones as much as I want
I've been having difficult problems keeping them on my ears they are constantly falling off and I think
One of the reasons it's because there is no grip at the tip of it, I would like to see
A solution about this issue thank you for ear me out!!.

    Frustrating

    • Written by from Taunton

Bought these because I was impressed with the sound quality and the fact that they weren't those horrible in-ear phones that seems to be all the rage nowadays. Unfortunately, they don't stay in your ear for more than 5 seconds! I spend more time trying to stop my earphones falling out than I do listening to music. I'm not sure if it's the mic on the right earpod that's causing it to fall out all of my ear all the time or that they're only designed for certain sizes of ears...either way they're very poorly designed.

    Won't stay in ear

    • Written by from Melfort

I cannot get these to stay in my ear . They fall out continually which makes them pretty much useless. The only way these remain in my ears is if I hold them in . Sound was good when I could hear through them

    Bad sound

    • Written by from C

These are horrible with noise isolation. When I put it all the way loud, everyone can hear my music and I could hardly hear any. The only way they work we'll is when I put the right one on the left and the left one on the right, which is very uncomfortable. They are actually really comfortable the right way but with bad sound quality. My two choices with these are either comfortable with bad sound, or uncomfortable with good sound.

    I HATE THEM

    • Written by from San Antonio

I admit the sound quality is great but they are too big for my ears. They start hurting after about 5 minutes. These are the most uncomfortable earbuds I have ever used. I wish Apple would still sell the older ones that came with iPhone 4S and earlier.

    Disappointed

    • Written by from Cincinnati

I find it very irritating that these headphones are uncomfortable and fall out frequently. I'm a skier and I really like to tune everything out when I'm on the slopes. I thought to try these out one day, but found that they couldn't even comfortably fit in my ears. I was also irritated because I could hear my surroundings as I was skiing. I am completely appalled by Apple's efforts and do not recommend buying their headphone products because they all have disappointed me.

    Great Sound, Bad Build Quality

    • Written by from Rolling Meadows

I love these headphones for listening to music except the build quality just absolutely awful. I am now going onto my 4th pair of earpods because of the cheap build quality. The fact though that i have gone through 3 pairs of these and i am going onto my 4th i think apple should pay for this next pair for me
