    Buyer Beware

    • Written by from El Paso

These earphones do not fit very well. Maybe my ears are too small or the earphone tiny handle is too long. They basically keep falling out when walking. I'm returning mine asap. The old earphones at least had a rubber cap to keep them from falling out of the ear. Great sound....Poor design.

    Terrible fit

    • Written by from Lakeland

I must preface this by saying that I am both an audiologist (doctoral hearing healthcare professional), a musician, and an audiophile (lover of music).

The fit of the old earbuds was terrible if you did not have a larger ear. The best solution was to have custom molds fabricated to fit the end. I was looking forward to the new EarPods because of all the "research" and their "hundreds" of ears that they scanned, as well as the supposed better sound quality.

I do have small-ish ears for an adult and have been wearing custom molds attached to my oilds Apple earbuds for years. The new EarPods are an awful fit. Lots of acoustic leakage from outside noise in. They also fall out of my ears after less than a minute. If I'd paid extra for these, I would have taken them back; however, they came with my iPhone 5. The sound quality seems much better than the earbuds alone if I take my fingers and shove the Pods into my ears, but that's not very practical. I still am using my old earbuds with my custom molds which actually results in excellent sound quality as the molds direct the sound adequately into the ear canal and at a deeper point than any type of bud headphone would, and when sound is presented closer to the eardrum, there is better preservation of the signal.

Additionally, and MOST importantly, custom molds provide less acoustic leakage and, thus, the volume does not have to be turned up very high on your audio device which reduces the risk of noise induced hearing loss. I am not the only adult with small conchas (ear bowls) and children definitely have smaller conchas. So, for millions and millions of people, Apple is falsely advertising these EarPods as excellent in fit when really their poor fit will have listeners cranking up the volume and risking noise induced hearing loss. Thanks Apple - until you improve your design, I will stick with my improved oldies-but-goodies.

    Waste of money

These might have great sound quality, but what's the point if they won't stay in my ears?. I can't walk 20 feet without them falling out. Don't buy these unless you try them out first.

I guess my ears are holding them wrong.

    • Written by from Denver

I'm pretty glad that these came with my new iPhone, because before making the decision to buy that I was mulling over the idea of dropping $30 on these after experiencing discomfort with my rubber-tipped earbuds. On my very first time out with EarPods I noticed that they felt remarkably loose. Granted, they were not as loose as Apple's previous earbuds, but still enough that after five minutes of walking to my car, these were ready to fall out.

Still Do Not Work As Advertised

    • Written by from New York

I wanted to be happy, I wanted to finally have an apple provided headphone work but the same old issue remains.

Although apple made some overall improvements to the sound quality, the one major issue remains that these earpods/ in-ear headphones just do not stay in your ears.
Try wearing these and walking for more than a few steps and you have to constantly adjust due to the cheap plastic that these are made of.

    they don't fit!

I couldn't find my original iPhone headphones so I decided to try these. I should've known better. I have very small ears and these were big and painful and kept popping out. Maybe they work for you but not for me.

I love the sound quality of the new EarPods but they do not stay in my ear for more than a few seconds before I have to adjust them. I have all but given up on them at this point.

    Way too big

    • Written by from Chicago

The ear buds are just too large, and the hard plastic is not fun. If I want to use them I have to force them into my ears, and naturally they hurt my ears after awhile. The hard plastic is brutal, and of course, has no give. Apple needs to make these in a smaller size or make them more moldable/softer.

    sound quality is good but...

    • Written by from Southgate

I dont know if I'm the only person on earth that has small ears but, these things hurt! I never used the original iphone/ipod headphones because they are just too big for my ears. I was excited when I heard that the earpods featured a new disign to better fit in the ear. But, they might actually be worse. Unfortunately, these will most likely be going in a drawer with the rest if the earbuds that have come with all of my previous apple products. I'm pretty dissappointed that Ill have to go back to using the in ear Sony headphones I bought when I got my iphone 4...

    Don't stay in the ear

    • Written by from North Royalton

When will Apple get the point that slippery smooth plastic earbuds will slide out of the ear just like that original. You need some rubber backing to help stay in place. I returned mine after one hour of trying these...Very disappointed in them.

    Apple EarPods fit better REVERSED!

    • Written by from LOS ANGELES

Get this: No doubt these things sound better than the previous EarPods. But unlike the previous EarPods which fit my ears perfectly, these fall out no matter how hard I shove them into my ears. Horrible horrible fit.

Weirder still, when I reverse them, left to right ear, right ear to left, they fit PERFECTLY! Snug, better sounding, comfortable fit.

But my OCD can't allow me to fully enjoy the experience of listening to music 'backwards'.

Has anybody had a similar experience?

    Really People?

    • Written by from Salem

I dont know why these are getting such good reviews. They came with my iPhone 5. I couldn't find my Sony's one day so i figured i would give them a shot. I didn't know Apple had managed to make plain plastic earbuds MORE uncomfortable. They have zero weight so they don't hang properly in your ear and the sound is thin and hollow. These have zero redeeming value, not even as a backup pair. I would give 0 stars but that isn't an option.

Poor Durability, Right Volume Dies - Decent Price & Signature

    • Written by from Tampa

Like many, I too was pleasantly surprised at the sound quality of this recent addition to the Apple product line. But within roughly two months of use, the right ear lost volume on THREE different new pairs. Seems another design flaw, but, of course, as with all Apple design defects, it takes an act of god or a class action lawsuit for the company to own up to, and deal with, it. After replacing the pair thrice with the same problem, I'm done with them. If you can afford to buy a new pair every month or two, these will do fine. Otherwise, look elsewhere.

These are way worse than the previous ones.

    • Written by from Miami

Why does it only get 1 star? Apple launches these commercials telling you that headphones have been developed incorrectly in the past, bit taking the human ear shape into consideration. Well, how brilliant is that design if it doesnt stay in your ears when actually moving your head a bit. I didn't have any problems during running with the previous apple headphones, but these constantly fall out. They are all plastic and no rubber piece anymore. Friends of mine who got them with the iphone 5 as well state the same: horrible design.

Think twice before spending money on these headphones. They keep on falling out while just sitting at my desk (am not even thinking of walking around or moving my head).
Although people say that sound and mic should work on Android that is not always the case. It doesn't work with my HTC!

    Horrible Fit

    • Written by from Fort Washington

For those who have a really hard time getting the old iPod headphones to stay in their ears, don't expect the new design of these to be any different. While they look like they have a better fit, these fell out right away when I wasn't even walking. Maybe if they weren't made entirely out of hard plastic, they wouldn't slip so easily.
