    Ouch!

    • Written by from Carrollton

I've never had an issue with any other type of earbuds before but these are so uncomfortable! After 10-15 minutes they hurt terribly. I feel like the insides of my ear are bruised from wearing them.

The sound quality is also supposed to be improved with these but I've noticed no difference from my old earbuds.

I guess they must work well for some people's ears but I will be switching to a different brand.

    Not for smaller people

    • Written by from Washington

Excruciating to wear. Earbuds were always uncomfortable for me, but these are actual agony. I never knew my ears were that much smaller than other people's. I'm a bit short, but not an outlier - 5'2" is a relatively common height for women. Maybe ear size is height-independent.

    Best earphones i've ever used.

    • Written by from Lidsdale

I purchased these when my old ipod earphones wore out.
At the time, i thought the old ones were high quality, because their sound clarity was unmatched by most other deeper, more muffled sounding earphones.
But these are an immense improvement on something already great.
The shape fits perfectly and comfortably, the sound quality is A-grade and these have as much bass as the in-ear earphones, without having the very unpleasant feeling of having something jammed right into your ear.
In fact, i found that if i tilt the earphones up a bit, the bass actually increases yet again, giving very bass driven sound at the price of just $30!
The downside is that it's hard to get the earphones to stay in this position, but if you can it's great!

    Amazing

    • Written by from Wheaton

I just got these with my new iPod and they are mind blowing! The sound is awesome with great but not overwhelming bass. They are a huge step up from my old earphones. Also, they are very comfortable. I have seen a lot of reviews to the contrary and I think it varies person to person. Really, these are great. I would borrow some from a friend and see if you like the fit first, though. Great job Apple!

Fall out all the time, broke after a year

    • Written by from San Diego

These came with my iPhone 5. They seemed good at first, good quality sound. However they always fell out of my ears. After a year one of the buds started giving much quieter sound so they became useless and I threw them away. I bought some Shure 215s and *wow*, way better sound, thumpier bass, great sound isolation, and they stay in my ears. It was then that I realized the earpods are garbage. I doubt Apple will ever improve them because Apple doesn't listen to what it's customers want. Just try submitting a bug report of feature improvement of any kind if you want proof of that, all you get is zero response. That's why Apple is just a marketing company, not a tech company.

    Are you serious!?

    • Written by from Cold stream

I got an iPhone 5c for Christmas and these came with them! I was so happy to finally have headphones. I was listening to music on the way home and I fell asleep with them in my ears. I woke up 3 hours later and the inner part of my ear (where they go) was really hurting but I figured it wouldn't last long. 13 days later my inner ear still hurts. It's like the earphones molded my ear. NO IN-EAR EARPHONES FIT IN MY EAR ANYMORE!! Not even these ones!!

    Sound and Fit Great But...

    • Written by from Sun Prairie

The sound quality of the Earpods is good. They fit well on me. But they almost never last more than 6 months. I have gone through 3 or 4 pairs and the same thing happened to all of them. One of the ear pods stopped giving sound. This last time however they started playing music when I would be watching a video or trying to listen to podcasts. It really seemed to favor playing Weird Al songs. Today it finally gave in and the left ear pod doesn't have sound anymore. The part of the Earpods where they split is broken and the left wires poke out if I don't push it back in. The rubber or whatever it is, by the jack also broke off. They should make both of these parts plastic so they can't tear. I would like to get another pair but I don't want to waste another 30 bucks. Maybe another time Apple.

    Never stay in

    • Written by from Pittsburgh

So, I was under the impression that these were designed to have a better fit than the earbuds. Not that case with me. I don't feel that my ear are awkwardly shaped, but for whatever reason these don't stay in. I don't even have to be doing anything. Merely talking will cause them to wiggle loose from my ears and cause them to fall out.

Sound quality doesn't seem like too much of an improvement from the earbuds. Honestly, I was very disappointed with these. Got them with my iPhone 5c, which is fine since I didn't waste any money on them. I'd definitely go with the earbuds over these. Not worth the money.

This is the best below $30 ear-bud you can get, the sound is rich and deep, and this earbud is pretty unique, simply but useful and powerful. I love it...

So besides the audio being really good compared to cheap skullcandy and such it is quite durable. I just washed and dried my earpods by mistake ofc and they still work I'm amazed by the quality.

Sound is great, but they hurt!

    • Written by from Piandimeleto

Basically these Earpods hurt a lot. I found out I'm not the only one to have had this same problem, but I think a special version of this product is required. Try to advertise less the fact that they fit for 90% of people and concentrate on that 10% that still has problems with them! In my opinion the hard plastic and the Mic shape and position hurt my very small ears. Improved version needed, in the meantime I'll go with my beautiful old ones.

How to keep the EarPods. In your ears

    • Written by from Lake Charles

It's very simple, and despite what does the trick.
Put a small drop of Elmer's white glue on the part that touches the little protrusion on your ear

Big up to apple on the sound quality improvement . Don't change that! Also could you make a pair without the mic and sell it. I only use these for my ipod in the gym . I have no need for the mic etc. I know a lot of people would appreciate it. Thanks!

    Works for me...

    • Written by from Laguna

I bought the new iPod 5th generation just last week, and I was pretty much excited with the bundled earpods on it, after trying it out, i was astonished with the sound quality. Compared to the old Apple earphones, this is way better, I could even remember back when I was in college I had and iPod shuffle with the old earphones and i really find using it a little rubbish since i could really hear the outside noise; but with this earpods I can really hear the full bass of the songs i listen to. thumbs up to apple for this. The only thing missing with the bundled earpods is the remote. I wish they (Apple) tried to ship those bundled earpods with remote also. nevertheless its still cool.
