    So far so good

After reading the reviews I was a little hesitant about purchasing this AV adapter. However, I am quite pleased with the product and my purchase. In fact, I subsequently purchased the 30-pin version for my third generation iPad.

Bad design—does not fit Apple 5s cases!

    • Written by from Las Vegas

This adapter is the complete opposite of Apple's "Forward thinking" slogan. Why would Apple design an adapter that has a different size head than the cables that comes with the 5s phones? The Apple leather cases have holes cut just for these smaller OEM cables thus making the adapter useless since it won't fit through the hole. What the heck were they thinking?! I was willing to swallow the premium asking price just to make some of my cables usable again (especially that pricey Composite AV cable), of course it's never a simple and cheap solution. Whoever designed these adapters and cases should be sacked for having tunnel-design-vision. Forward thinking my a**.

Setup: Samsung Smart TV, iPad mini with IOs7, this cable and a HDMI cable (which works by the way)
Connected all devices, switched TV source to HDMI input and ... nothing. £39 wasted.

    Overpriced but works great.

    • Written by from Turlock

Bought for use with iPhone 5 movies and TV shows from iTunes. It did not want to work with my old Toshiba TV/DVD combo. It does work with my 1080p monitor after I set the input signal on the monitor ( menu shows: analog/digital/HDMI ). Since the monitor does not have sound I plugged an external speaker into the iPhone and it works great.

    Doesn't seem to work, yet.

    • Written by from Brampton

After reading the reviews I thought I would take a chance and get one. Sure enough, when I tried to watch a movie from my iPhone 5 on my TV it didn't work right. The picture on my tv would go to snow, then the it would work again, then snow. Thought maybe it was a loose or bad connection, but trying the other remedies didn't seem to help. Sync'd another movie onto the phone and now the playback was just fine on the TV. So I re-sync'd the first moive to my phone, and the playback was better, but not great. Still would loose the picture every 10-20 seconds. Going to try re-syncing the movie one more time, and give up. Looks like I will be returning this product and trying another one, because, hey, I still wanna watch my movie from my iPhone on my TV. Just wish it would have worked the first time, especially for $50.00 spent.

    great product but pricey

    • Written by from Hanmer

this product works very well. on bothy my iphone 5 and ipad. I use it all the time at home, at work and when I travel. My vehicle has an HDMI port and this makes it extremely easy to play movies for my kids when travelling.
My only gripe is its very expensive. $29.99 would be a more reasonable price for this type of product.

Works but the cable is too short.

    • Written by from São Paulo

As Christopher G, I just bought Pioneer AVH-X8500BHS and installed it in my 2008 VW Polo and works perfect!!!
The same reason for my review is to share what needs to change with the Lightning AV Adaptor. The cable works great but the lightning cable to connect to iphone 5 is way to short and I can't find anyone on the internet that sales an extension.
The same problem is I don't want to have a huge adaptor hanging from my iphone 5. There needs to be a Female to Male Thunderbolt cable created so i can hide this huge adaptor behind my stereo.
I really need a Female to Male thunderbolt cable extension.

For ! Phone 5 to my Bose portable sound system. Charges too, have to take the ! phone 5 cover off, not a big deal. About $20 overpriced but works perfect with Bose system.

I'd get it again. Wish it was a little cheaper though.

I just bought Pioneer Z150bh and installed it in my 2007 Honda accord and I love it!!!!!!!!!!! I can mirror my apps on my iphone 5 on my pioneer stereo and it works absolutety amazing!

The main reason for my review is to share what needs to change with the Lightning AV Adaptor. The cable works great but the lightning cable to connect to iphone 5 is way to short and I can't find anyone on the internet that sales an extension.
-Basically my problem is I have this hooked up to my stereo and then it run out of my dashboard and connects to my iphone 5 so i can display apps on my pioneer stereo. But the problem is I don't want to have a huge adaptor hanging from my iphone 5. There needs to be a Female to Male Thunderbolt cable created so i can hide this huge adaptor behind my stereo.
Apple if you're ready this can you please work on making a Female to Male thunderbolt or a longer thundbolt end on the AV adaptor-say like 2-3 feet so we can hide the adaptor and have just the thunderbolt cable coming out to use. Thanks for working on this!
Other than that this adaptor has worked flawlessly so far. I give it 4 start b/c it didn't completely meet my needs.

    to Valeri F

    • Written by from Timnath

    Hi Valeri,
You said that you were disappointed that you didn't get 1080 HD with this cable on your iPad 4th gen and that people should read the specs on that item before buying. That might be true but this cable doesn't claim to give that quality on that device. It specifically states in the product description that you can get that video quality with the iPad 5. I just wanted to point out that you are not comparing apples to apples and you might be disappointed over something that was never possible and never claimed as a possibility in the first place.

    Good but...

    • Written by from Sept-iles

With iphone 4s it does what you expect it to do in general but when you watch a movie, you can't change language! There is no way to change the language when plugged in and if i change language before i plug it, it switch back to original language by itself so i guess my choice of language is not important for apple!!! So i paid 6$ for nothing and we had to go rent the movie at the video store... I will not rent a movie on itunes again unless they create a solution fir this issue.

    Works as intended

    • Written by from rochester

I bought this yesterday and connected my ipad to my bedroom 720 HD plasma TV and the picture was great (Netflix, HBOgo, Itunes). A couple of minor issues were that the display was not a full screen on the TV unless I was playing videos like on Netflix. Also the price is high but what's new there... I still have to try it on my 1080 LED TV to see if the picture quality would suffer but so far it has done exactly what I needed.

    Worked OK for awhile

    • Written by from Greensburg

I also have reached the stage where the adapter only works when I manipulate the cable just right. Otherwise, no sound, no picture or sound, or fuzzy picture. If you aren't supposed to bend the cable tail, then make it rigid so there's no chance of creating a short. Poor design for the price. When it works, it's great, but it takes a few minutes each time I use it to dial it in. And then, don't bump it!

I have had the adapter for about a week, it works with hdmi and audio out for about 2 minutes, then it says accessory is not supported by iphone, and stops sending audio, and video out. Then I have to turn my phone off, and on again for it to work (for 2 minutes) Horrible

The lightning to HDMI works great for my TV and for my new laptop computer but I purchased it for a projection unit and that unit has no HDMI. Is there something I can connect between the HDmi and the projector units to get sound and video? If so please let me know, Thanks in advance.
