    Dissapointing

    • Written by from Godmanchester

I have just purchased this adapter from the apple store, i have to say that i am really dissapointed with it, i was assured both online by an "expert" and in the store that it would play movies for the iTunes Store, but it doesn't. please do bear this in mind if you are looking for one to connect to a home cinema projector!

in conclusion not very good and apple should think about this, if i could, no stars would suffice.

Does not work with older projectors

I bought this to use at work. It did not work on our older projectors that we use with windows laptops. This was a disappointment.

    VGA adapter a disappointment

    • Written by from Sacramento

Very disappointing. Purchased to play movies on my iPad mini though TV while traveling. Trouble is, it works on some TVs, but only plays audio on others -- even identical TVs.

    No Video

    • Written by from Richmond

Tried with multiple monitors, projectors, and iPads. Not one displayed the video externally. Further iOS has zero troubleshooting controls.

    Don't buy it!

    Does not work

    • Written by from Charlotte

This connector does not work with all VGA projectors. I was able to get the iPad to show up on a computer monitor, but when plugged in to the projector it would not display anything. I am a school teacher, so I also tried the classroom next door with the same results. The computer specialist at my school also tried to get it to work, and again the same result. Just be prepared that if you purchase this connector, it may not work with your projector.

    Worst Product Ever

    • Written by from Naches

I bought this to play TV shows I purchased from iTunes on our family TV and every time it says "THE CONNECTED DISPLAY IS NOT AUTHORIZED TO PLAY PROTECTED MOVIES." This adapter is a total piece of junk, your paying a dollar for adapter and forty eight dollars for a half eaten rotten apple.

    Waste of money

    • Written by from Chatham

I bought this cable so I could play my iTunes purchased films on my VGA projector. But when you try to play a film downloaded from iTunes you get a message "THE CONNECTED DISPLAY IS NOT AUTHORIZED TO PLAY PROTECTED MOVIES."

As this is the only reason for buying and using this cable this is a MASSIVE FAIL. What is the reason for this???????????? This cable is not fit for purpose - WHY is this not detailed in the sales description as it is probably the sole reason people would buy this cable - I feel cheated out of my money and very disillusioned with the whole iTunes experience now - beware do NOT but this faulty product if you want to view your legally purchased iTunes Library on a VGA display/projector.

    pass through only for power

    • Written by from Morden

I bought this adapter so I could use it while developing an app that needed separate video output. It seemed perfect because it has the VGA output as well as a passthrough lightning plug so you can keep it attached to your computer for development/debugging as well.

Unfortunately, it only passes through power, and does not show up as the original device you plugged in, so its useless to me.

Doesn't not work with protected movies

    • Written by from Blaine

I bought this so that I could watch purchased TV shows with my iPad 4 connected to my NEC Multimedia projector. It's an older projector that does not support HDMI. However, despite the description for the VGA adapter that says you can watch movies and shows on TVs and projectors, it does NOT work. When I play the show I purchased from iTunes, I am given a message that says "THE CONNECTED DISPLAY IS NOT AUTHORIZED TO PLAY PROTECTED MOVIES." I get the same error message when I connect my computer monitor to the adapter.

Perhaps the description of this product should be changed to say that you can watch movies and shows on TVs and Projectors--EXCEPT the ones you buy from iTunes? I feel that Apple is sending me the message that I should get my content from torrents rather than buying it from iTunes. Are there Apple-branded projectors or monitors that will support this adapter? What's the point of having a VGA adapter for your device if you cannot watch iTunes content that you purchased?!

    Loses signal after 5 minutes

    • Written by from Kennedale

I dropped 50 dollars to replace my 30pin VGA adapter after I upgraded my iPad 2 to a new iPad with retina (4th gen) and needed the lightning VGA adapter. I bought it a few hours before I was supposed to give a presentation from my iPad. Big mistake for waiting until the last minute. The adapter, when plugged in, stops sending a signal after five minutes and my projector screen said there was no input signal. The only way it would work again was if i unplugged it and plugged it back in again, but, five minutes later, it did it again. I swapped out the VGA cable and it still happened. Then I tried it on a TV...same thing. If Apple weren't already closed I would take it back right now. Awful. Just awful.
