    Having to RETURN

    • Written by from Pleasant Grove

Honestly, I opened it up and put it together on the pin feel out of my phone! I tried it again and it fell right out. Maybe I have a defective one? Going to see if I can return it and if so and I get one that actually works, then I will re-rate, however, at this time - it stinks!

    Finally, someting that works!

    • Written by from Adrian

I got my 5s a week ago. I have had terrible difficulty with NOEM (non-original equipment manufacturer), both cords (i.e., USB to lightning) and adapters (i.e., 30 pin to lightning). If you plan to use 5s with stereo's (e.g., Bose, iHome, etc.) this adapter works great! Apple products, as always, are overpriced but so far it's been worth it. Everything will work properly. I am giving it 5 stars based on its functionality, not Apple's suggested retail price.

    Works on my Dock Charger

    • Written by from Pompano Beach

Not sure why this product did not get a lot of good reviews. I just recently purchased the Ipod Nano 7th generation and was very disappointed to see it was not dock capable like my 4th generation. I went and purchased this and it works great. The only downfall I see is it Ipod rests on base of dock and not standing up. Yet that is not an issue for me. I just wanted to enjoy my Ipod music in my dock and it does. The $40 is kinda of expensive yet I would of had to spend more money getting another Ipod AND this adapter or go with the classic .

upgraded from 3gs to 5s only to realize..

    • Written by from los angeles

.. that, even with the 2nd gen of the iphone 5, apple still has not provided their loyal customers with a means to use their new phones with our existing devices, such as music docs and car connectors. not only is this connector wildly overpriced, but for customers upgrading from older devices, it SHOULD, by all means, come bundled with new phones.

the satisfaction of receiving a new phone is now mitigated by the realization that we can no longer use our phone with our existing devices without spending money on an exorbitantly priced accessory..

this anti-consumer behavior has resulted in significantly dampening my pleasure at finally upgrading my phone... it's a small thing perhaps, but one that will stay with me long after my new phone has been broken in.. and when it comes time for my next upgrade, you can believe I will take this into account when choosing my next phone.

Works with 5S and Sony Dock

    • Written by from Holly Springs

This works with my new 5S and my old Sony ICF-CS15iP Audio Dock. All controls are preserved and the app on the phone works as well, when connected. Like most reviewers, I wish the cable was a little longer and a little less expensive.
I saw a reviewer that stated that the DAC was built in the cable which is what makes it more expensive than the other ones that don't carry audio or that have to use the headphone jack on the connector. Regardless, I'm happy....

Won't work with a case attached

    • Written by from Port Jervis

I bought this, along with a number of similar Apple adapters to use with my new iPhone 5s. It works fine when there is no case or bumper on the phone, but it isn't long enough to fit into the port when a case is on. In order to use the adapters you must take the case off. For the amount of money Apple charges for these things, it would be expected that theyare compatible with cases on. My only option is to buy multiple Apple syncing wires (THEY fit with a case on) if I don't want to be bothered with taking the case off every time I charge, sync with my computer or use in my car.

It does not work with the HDMI 30 pin adapter

    • Written by from Las Vegas

When I purchased the I Phone 5 I was given the impression that this adapter would simply transfer all the same data from the Lightning connector to the 30 pin connector. This is not the case for video. If you plan on doing video you need to buy an additional cable that is $50. and by the way this $50 dollar cable will not plug into your TV. you need something additional that cost another $30. When you do the math if you want your iPhone 5? to work like your iPhone 4S you need to spend around $110.00. My advise is stick with the 4s.

    Works with BMW

    • Written by from Fort Lauderdale

I have a 2007 BMW with the iPhone Y-cable that has a 30-pin connector. With this car option and using the BMW Y-cable, I am able to fully access the music on my iPhone and use the iDrive controller and screen and steering wheel buttons. I just upgraded my iPhone from 4S to the 5S so needed a 30-pin to lighting connector that will still work with my current car's electronics. This cable worked flawlessly and I maintained all functionality.

Of course in newer BMW's the point would be moot, as you can control the music on the iPhone though the car's electronics using Bluetooth. But I am not ready to get trade in my car.

TOO SHORT! 0.2 meter? A 1.0 meter option would be nice!

    • Written by from Waikoloa

I own a Beats By Dre Beatbox. I need a 30 pin adapter cord that I can plug into the 30 pin plug from the Beatbox then go to a lightning plug so I can charge and use the phone while its plugged in. All apple offers is a cord length of 0.2 meters which is 7.8 inches. That is way too short, and worthless! Come on Apple, please offer a longer cord besides this stub sized cord. A 1.0 meter would be nice!!!

    Functional but WAY overpriced

    • Written by from Indianapolis

I purchased this adapter to connect my iPhone 5 with my G35. (I use an aftermarket kit to integrate with the factory system.) This cord works just fine. But at the thirty nine dollars MSRP, it is way, way overpriced. It is so overpriced that it makes me mad and makes me not want to buy Apple products in the future. The last time a company made me this mad was 8 years ago when Sony had their rootkit fiasco, and I haven't bought a single product from them since. I'm not saying I will boycott Apple, but I am thinking about it. I also seriously considered not buying the cord, but I paid 7x that to buy the aftermarket system and have it installed, and without this cord it is worthless.

    Worth the extra 10 dollars

    • Written by from Spring Valley

I first bought the $29.99 adapter for my car stereo but once I tried to connected it, it didn't fit with my defender case and who wants to be taking of and on a case anyways went back returned it and paid an extra $10 for this one and it fits perfect
So I would say If you have a case on your iPhone this one is worth it

    Useless for...

    • Written by from BAYAMON

I have an Apple iPhone 30-pin to VGA cable. I bought this Apple iPhone lightning to 30-pin adapter. I wanted to project my new iPhone 5's screen for my UPR students using a projector with a VGA connector on my Apple iPhone. Upon combining both adapters I get a "This Accessory is Not Supported by iPhone", OK?. So $50 + $50 = $100 gone to scat. Is Apple willing to do anything about this? There was no warning indicating this doesn't work. Three incompatible Apple products in just one generational change. Not very honest, hard-working or professional. By the by, will we ever get to use Flash without having to buy an even later generation???

    Very disappointed with adapter solutions...

    • Written by from Montreal

The new lightning connector would be great if Apple actually created some useful adapters and cabling. I need to adapt an iPhone 5 and iPod (5th Generation) for a speaker dock less than a year old...what a nightmare. The 30-pin adapter extends my iPhone and iPod so high that they are very unstable. The 30-pin 0.2m cable is so rigid and short that the iPhone and iPad will not lie flat. For god sakes, give us a cable longer than 8 inches. I'm really disappointed that I'm having to search out scarce and less than elegant 3rd party solutions. This is just like the new Thunderbolt connector on my new iMac...all hype, few products supporting it, and of course way overpriced.

Pricey and does not support video. I understand Apple is working on one that does, but I'm afraid to hear the price on that one, let alone the wait for its arrival.

WORST Charger Ever!!!!! DO NOT BUY!!!!

    • Written by from Sanbornville

I have only had my iPod 5th Generation Charger for about 6 Months and i am already having to buy a brand new charger because my iPod will no longer charge. One of my friends has an iPhone 5 and she has had hers for about 1 year and she has had to buy two Chargers so far its like every six months we have to buy a new charger. And I'm very easy and careful on my chargers so that stuff like this doesn't happen but the chargers are so tiny that the will eventually break. I don't know if this is Apples way if making us pay for more stuff but its annoying a stupid that i have to keep on buying new chargers every six months.

    No

    • Written by from Clayton

The charger came with my iPod touch 5 that I bought 3 months ago and worked pretty well up until last week when I noticed there was a tear in it at the top of the cable. It worked for a couple more days before it just gave up. It really needs to be improved so the cable doesn't tear like that. All the other cables I've had for my apple products have worked well so I don't understand why this one gave up.

For those who purchased Otter Box Defender Cases

    • Written by from Fayetteville

I ordered two adapters. The type of case I'm using prevents the adapter from fitting into the phone. The only way to use this adapter is to remove the phone from the case. I returned these to Apple. Perhaps these would work with a different case such as Speck. The odd thing is the charger that comes with the iPhone 5 works perfectly so why don't these?

    Stopped working for no reason

    • Written by from Exton

I have this adapter and the smaller l(square with no cord) adapters. The adapter with the cord suddenly died and no longer charges the phone. Its kept in a drawer and I only use when needed' so there should be no reason why it stopped working. I have tried it with many different cables all with same result.

The other (no cord) adapters still work even though I bought them at the same time. So I guess I'll stick with them. But I liked the corded one because it was less likely to get lost.
