    Low quality product

    • Written by from Calgary

This adapter started deteriorating about 2 months after purchase. It has now completely stopped working. This is from normal use. I expected higher quality for the price.

    Not for iPhone 6!

    • Written by from ASHEBORO

"Trust this Computer" will reappear regardless of phone resets. "This accessory may not be supported on this device" pops after what looks like it is working when first attached, should read "is not supported". A very poor product that worked fine on the iphone 5. Spend your $40 at your own risk.

    Works Like A Charm

    • Written by from BOULDER

After having read that the square/block converter will probably not be able to plug into my iPhone 6 with a case on (or at least a case that does not have an exposed base), I decided to go with this cable for my car's iPod connection, a Vais SL2i.

Since only 0.2m long, doesn't add a lot of length to my existing cable. And it works! Still have full steering wheel control of volume, track & playlist selection. Track & playlist names display on the stereo's LCD. And my third-party streaming radio app works as well.

I now have a adapter that will work with any Lightning equipped device, no matter the case on the device.

    Too expensive

    • Written by from Matteson

I bought this cable for my IPad Air in January 2014. It is now September 2014 and the cable is already frayed and worn. For $40, you would think Apple could make this cable more durable. Apple makes great products, but when you need parts, it's highway robbery. I tried buying a cable that was supposedly approved by Apple for my IPad, however, it didn't work properly. Needless to say, I had to rely on genuine Apple products. I gave this product two stars because it didn't last a good year.

It's a great product. It helped me use chargers I bought for my old iPhone on my new 5c. It was a little pricy, but totally worth it!

    Works in Automobiles.

    • Written by from Manahawkin

The cable has restored full functionality for both my iPhone 5s and 5c in our Mercedes. The cars still have the 30 pin connectors. Audio passes through, and the phones charge. Knocked one star off for price.

    Stopped Working

    • Written by from Linden

I have been using the long lightning to 30-pin adapter (0.2m) to connect to my Belkin 30-pin Tune-cast in my car. I also use a lightning to usb adapter to charge my iPhone in my car. The lightning to 30-pin adapter (0.2m) shows signs of green oxidation on the lightning end and has stopped working. The lightning to usb adapter in my car works great and shows no sign of green oxidation. My wife uses a short lightning to 30-pin adapter and has also shown no signs of green oxidation. Not sure if the materials or quality of manufacturing are different between different adapter lines or date of manufacturing?

I bought this adapter because mi Kia Forte 30 pin cable won't work on my 5s obviously. I was worried the adapter would not support the audio like it did with my iphone 4. It worked perfectly with the factory cable the Kia has, like it was with my previous iphone.

My Audi iPod adapter won't recognize this adapter! Overprice and not work!

    • Written by from Bethlehem

I had the smaller type adapter since I got my iPhone 5 around two yeas ago. That adapter works with my car but the design is terrible. I finally get around and decide to buy this one, guest what, it only charge but not working, no control from my RNS-E. So 2 stars for not fully functioning.

    Sorta works

    • Written by from Richfield

I bought this to use with 30 pin cables I already have to connect a iPad mini. I have the Apple iPad mini Smart Case and I have to remove the iPad mini from the case in order to use this adapter The plug casing is too large to go into the case. Other cables I have are fine, the USB to Lightning cable that came with the iPad mini and the SD card reader with lightning, both work with the case. The cable needs to be re-designed with a smaller lighting connector and Apple needs to make it right with those that wish to exchange for the correct cable. Apple stuff should be compatible with other Apple stuff.

Was a lil worried after the reviews, but it works fine for me me...

    • Written by from The Woodlands

Primary reason I bought this was to see if the iPad camera connection kit I just picked up last fall for my iPad 3 would work on my iPad mini w/retina I just bought---any other uses were just icing on the cake. I have a Nikon D5200 and both adapters in the kit (the SD card reader and USB adapter) work just fine---USB connection has issues if the battery on the camera itself is running low but otherwise works great.

Next, got down to trying it on everything else in the house…late model Samsung home theater receiver w/iPod dock (bought it waaay back when the iPod w/video first came out), and my Sony Dream Machine clock radio w/docking station I bought 3-4 yrs ago. Both the iPad mini AND my iPhone 5s work great on these "senior" devices. Aaaaaalmost bought the version of this adapter that's just the connector without the cable extension---glad I didn't so I could ensure everything had room to plug in and seat correctly. Not as slick-looking, but in this case I preferred function & versatility over form.

My car has Bluetooth and USB interfaces to connect music devices rather than an iPod-specific connection, so had no chance to try this cable there. Guess I can try it with rental cars when I travel but with all the alternate ways you can connect iPods/Phones to car stereos, this wasn't a big personal concern of mine.

    What are you doing Apple?

    • Written by from Tucson

I have one of these and the longer extension as well, also my oem cable that came with my phone. Since the last update none of them work in my cars, pc's, or docks. I can only charge my iphone 5s now with it plugged into the wall. Was this done just to prevent the use of aftermarket cables? And now we all suffer even if we paid high retail cost for nothing! My entire family has iphones and so do all of my employees and everyone is having the same issue. My upgrades are here and the iPhone was on the list and has been for many years. We will now be looking at other devices, tired of the games.I searched and found that this is a epidemic.

Works perfectly in my Audi Q5 with MMI.

    • Written by from San Francisco

Wanted the cable to interface with my audio system in my 2012 Audi Q5, and this cable does the job.

I'm going to take it with me when I'm traveling (frequently) as pretty much every hotel alarm clock has the 30 pin plug.

Just deducting a star for the extortionate price. For what this is it really should be $19 maximum. It's a shame how horribly we're gouged as Apple consumers.

    It works nicely

    • Written by from Leesburg

After reading some of the reviews, I was more than a little wary. I presumed that Apple would take it back, if it didn't connect my iPhone 5S to the old 4S connector on the top of my iHome radio. That radio has nice sound playing my own iPhone music or playing my Classical SiriusXM channels "Pop" or "Symphony" music.
    It works well.
I would like to have had another 18-20 inches for the price.

    Very disappointed

    • Written by from Toronto

Was a reliable product and worked as advertised with all of my 30 pin connectors. Since installing IOS 7, the adapter will only work for audio, and not charging. Regardless of its performance, I feel ripped off paying $50 for an adapter.

A really awesome product for the Bose Sounddock II

    • Written by from voorhees

I recently bought this product for my iPhone 5s because I have a Bose souddock II product made for the 4S, when I found out that the iPhone 5, 5S, & 5C upgraded to the lighting port, I decided to get this "Lighting to 30-pin adapter"... if you have a speaker product that doesn't match the 5S product, then this "lighting to 30-pin adapter is for YOU!

Does not work with iPhone 5

    • Written by from Manly

Bought the adapter from the Apple Store in Hamburg but my iPhone 5 complains "This accessory is not supported by this device."
Following the other reviews here, I will take it back to the store and ask for a replacement or return it, if no replacement works, which is really annoying.
I have a lot of Apple products, and this adapter is the most disappointing one I ever had.

    Product that should be recalled

    • Written by from Chevy Chase

I regret to report, but I must concur with negative ratings for this product. I have iPhone 5s, and got the message that this cable is not a recognized product.

After reading all the negative reviews, I am surprised that this product is still available for sale and not recalled. Apple Geniuses were baffled at both stores I went to, and were unable to provide any explanation or fix for this problem. I have several older devices that I would like to use the adapter for, but at this time I guess it's not very likely.

2013 Kia Soul and iphone 5s, this works perfect with the factory cable that came with the car! All music is controllable through the steering wheel controls. This cable also fits perfect with the Lifeproof case on!
