    way too short

I am using the cable with a bose sound dock and it's almost not usable. If you can picture half of the McDonald's arch, but flatten it out a bit, that is what it looks like when plugged into my iPhone. Plus the iPhone is upside down and the charger end is up in the air, meaning the phone won't lay flat on the counter. I guess there are a ton of other instances where short might be better, so I guess the complaint is that they should maybe make 2 or 3 lengths. I would imagine the same problem will exist with all brands of docs. I don't think this problem is specific to just the bose sound dock.

I would like to video out using my older AV composite cable (not cheap). This stupid adapter will not work for video out. So after upgrading to an iPhone 5 I am worse off than the 4s. JUNK JUNK JUNK. Don't expect video out with your old hardware accessories. Instead of just a phone upgrade plan on upgrading everything.

Does not work in my 2009 Infiniti G37s. The audio system does not recognize my iPhone as being connected with this cord. BUT the compact lightning to 30-pin adapter (the one without the cord) DOES work. Unfortunately, I needed this one to go with my ProClip mount.

I am sure this would work to charge and what not, but the soul purpose why I got it, it did not. It would not play my music in my 08 VW Jetta SE.

    Won't charge my phone...

2 stars because the cable won't charge my phone wihen plugged in to my existing 30-pin system that came with my car (Mini Cooper, Harmon Kardon). Music plays fine, sounds great! However, if I can't charge my phone at the same time I will constantly be worrying if my battery is running down. Or if my battery is already low, I won't be able to recharge OR play any music...bummer! Kinda defeats the purpose, huh?!

    Lightning adaptor for iPhone 5

It works for all my needs. It will Charge and play music on both my boom boxes. It is thicker than the original 30 pin plug but fortunately my cases and other devices will Accommodate the size. It is way overpriced therefore I only gave it a four star

Works fine but is way overpriced

I bought this to connect my iPhone 5 to my two audio docks in the house. Unlike the $29 adapter, which is also overpriced, I don't have a problem connecting to my iPhone in it's case. Still, it's not the most elegant design for an adapter, and I have to set the phone on top of the table or counter my audio dock device is on and I have to twist the phone in an odd way to navigate through my music selections. But the sound is fine, no issues at all on that front. But $39? For a bit of plastic and metal? It's ridiculously over-priced, but you absolutely have to have one or more if you have audio equipment bought during the 30-pin connector era. I feel a bit like I've been mugged for this.

I have a Bose series 2 sound dock with the 30 pin connector. I have the newest generation iPad (4th) with Siri. These new ones have lightning connector. I bought the adapter and connected to my iPad to the Bose. The music played and charged well. Be careful what brand of sound docks purchased. Some may not support charging the battery like my In Motion sound dock.

Disappointed that it only performs half of its required function--I can use it to play music on speaker devices, but it does not charge. I consider this a major defect in this product, which, as many have noted, was not cheap.

    iphone adapter for Audi A5

I have an Audi a5 without Navigation. I used a Ipod/Iphone cable with the "Blue" Grommet. This new adapter allows my IPhone to connect seamlessly, with the added benefit that I can now stream Pandora and the AUDI MMI system recognizes the songs. With previous IPhones the audio system would time out while streaming Pandora and revert to music on my iphone.

This cable is pricey at $39.00 but I wasn't willing to take a chance on a cable from a third party manufacturer. Also, the extra 8 inches on the cable makes maneuvering the phone much easier.

Works well but doesn't fit well

This cable had done all I have asked it to do so far, except fit into my iPhone with a case on.

My case (made by Switcheasy, awesome case!) has a hole cut out for the Lightning port. I think many cases have this feature. The cable that shipped with the iPhone fits perfectly. On this cable, the lightning end is MUCH thicker than the original cable and will not fit with my case. I had to remove some of the plastic around the lightning end to even get to close to it fitting.

Why is this end so much thicker? I can't see any reason for it. So if you have a case that has a small cutout for the lightning port, beware of this cable.

I have a 2009 Infiniti and was looking forward to connecting to my new iPhone5 instead of an old iPod and purchased this cable. Now I find out that it does not support "iPod Out" which renders the connection to my car inoperable. Bummer!

As a music producer, I needed this to work with my audio & MIDI devices made with the 30 pin connectors. These include a Tascam stereo microphone and a Yamaha MIDI interface, both of which work just fine on my iPad 4 with this adaptor, as they did on my iPad 2 without it. Of course the price is outrageous, so this better turn out to be bullet proof, at least until it becomes obsolete, which is probably going to be way too soon! Also, why are all Apple cables and adapters always white? I would prefer the much less obtrusive color of black.

It bought this for my iPad mini but returned it because it does NOT work with the following adapters:
    - 30pins to camera SD card adapter
    - 30pins to VGA adapter
    - 30pins to composite video and RCA audio adapter
The only thing that worked for me is charging.
They should at least say which of Apple adapters ARE supported on their website!

Works great for my needs. In my car I'm able to change songs on my iphone through the steering wheel & it charges as well. On my Bose sound dock I'm able to change songs with the remote. Only downside is the price & I'm thinking I need another one to keep in my car.

The socket to connect this is in my CENTER CONSOLE.. I can barely move this thing without it coming unplugged.TERRIBLE

Works great in my car! (VW Jetta)

My iPhone 5 came in today and I used this adapter to connect to the existing 30 pin connector that came in my 2010 VW Jetta TDI. At first it didn't work because the new phone didn't have any songs on it. Once I downloaded a song or two I retried the cable and it worked. Full skip, pause, play and playlist selection just like I had on the old 4S. I then noticed there was some crackling in the audio, I quickly resolved this by changing the AUX input on my car radio from the High setting back to Medium. Now it is perfect and I love it.
I chose this adapter over the one without the length of cable because the factory 30 pin wire that came with the car is too short and now with this adapter connected the phone can lie flat on the passenger seat! Very happy!

The cable is an awkward length, a little too short or not long enough.

too bad it is not 3 feet long, so I can keep the old 30 pin connector hidden in my car.
