    The absolute WORST charger ever

    • Written by from Snellville

This is the worst charger I have EVER experienced. It seems as if it were designed to break just so I have to buy a new one every two months. The price to replace a simple charger is beyond ridiculous. Honestly, I don't have the money to keep replacing my charger over and over again. With the old charger, I never experienced so many problems, it is just with this one that I am. I am extremely disappointed in this product. Right now as I write this, my phone is completely dead because in the middle of the night my charger quit working completely, so now I have to take time out of my day to track down a way-too-expensive charger and buy yet another one.

    Terrible Charger

I am on my 3rd iPhone 5 charger, although yes, apple has great customer service in replacing these chargers, it is a HUGE inconvenience to have to go replace a charger about every 2 months. I don't know what it is but the cord keeps "severing" and it will become very touchy in how the phony lays while it charges to all of a sudden not charging at all. Not to mention how short the cord is. In general I truly dislike this charger for the new Apple products.

Stops working after a few weeks of being in my car. I've been through three of these and apple wont replace them because they claim they where water damaged but they have never seen water it must be the moisture in the air but if the moisture in the air can corrode this $45 cable and render it unusable well then there is obviously a problem

Adapters Rule! I Love This Adapter!!

I've been buying electronic adapters since the late 60's when I was a just a kid! Because I always thought of new ways to hook up devices. Radio Shack *almost* always had the adapters I needed.

Trust me, if you can't find the adapter you need, and no one makes it, that totally hurts.

This product is well made, sturdy, and does the job. Yeah, $29 is better than $39; but if you can't get it anywhere else? $39 is fine with me.

I have 3 tiny 'boomboxes' that all have that 30-pin connector. All is good now. I'm totally satisfied.

My case on my iPhone 5 is an Otter Box Defender. Buy the best. And it has a huge, thick rubber flap that folds down, no problems with the Lightning plug.

You're gonna be able to attach to old accessories for your iPhone 4S, I didn't have any problem with the sound, what I couldn't understand is Why Apple design this cable with an thick plug!!.
If you want to use it with a case or even a bumper, you better have an case with a big hole to connect it, or have your iPhone naked, otherwise forget about it!!!

I expected the Lightning connector end to be identical to the end available on the Lightning-to-USB cable Apple provides with new iPads and iPhones. Instead, the Lightning connector end is thicker, which means it won't fit with my phone's case. Why aren't these two connector ends identical?

    Terrible Sound reproduction

I'm not sure if I got a lemon, but when I used this cord to dock my iphone 5 into a sound system, the results were atrocious. At first I thought my speakers were broken, but they work fine when anything is attached without the lightning-30 pin cord. I bought this 5 days ago, and I am going back to demand a refund or at least a replacement because the sound quality is so bad that it is not worth listening to.

    Works for my vehicles

While I am not happy about the price of this cable (it is way too expensive), I am happy to report that it works to both charge the phone and to stream music, with complete control through the car stereo, when used on both my 2012 Hyundai Elantra and my 2014 Kia Sorento. I looked through a ton of these reviews without seeing either of these vehicles listed, so I was concerned about it. After arriving I am happy to report that it does work, so if you have one of these vehicles and need this cable it should be a good fit for you.

Video and audio output do not work like iPod Classic

    • Written by from Honolulu

WHY??? would the audio and video out functions of the iPod touch gen 5 be different than the iPod Classic? If they were...and they are...why wouldn't Apple be professional enough to tell the buyer what the new setup is?????????????
    Very, very frustrating.....

    Doesn't Work - Over Priced

I bought this to connect my new iPhone 5, when I traded up from an iPhone 3, to my exisiting docking stations. I've tried this on two docking statings so far and the iPhone 5 with this cable hasn't worked on either station. I tried this on a Bose docking station (included with a Lifestyle system) and with an iHome clock/radio.

Apple should include one of these with every device as we've all made investments in 30 pin cables over the years and they should maintain compability with previous versions so we don't have to go out and buy new docking stations just because Apple has a new interface.I'm losing my patience with Apple over this one. Just any way to get more money out of the consumer with no added benefit, except to Apple. The only good thing I ‘m still within the 15 day period and I can return this expensive and useless cable.

Great idea from Apple, but it does not seem like much thought was put into it's development. The problem is that .2 meters (7.87 inches) is just not long enough. My iPod is connected via this adapter to a male 30 pin that stands maybe 3 inches tall. Picture this, the cord goes straight up and loops back down (due to how short it is). Because of this, the iPod will not even lay flat on my desk. When I attempt to lay it flat, the 30 pin tends to lift up, breaking the connection. I feel sorry for the people needing to plug their iPod into something taller. Make the cables at least 1' or 2' as these lengths are much easier to work with.

Does not charge iPad from IM600 Speakers

    • Written by from Blaine

I have an Altec Lansing InMotion IM600 rechargeable speaker system that works perfectly with my iPod. It has a 30-pin connector dock. It does three things:

1 - Plays music from the iPod through excellent-sounding speakers.

2 - Has a remote control that controls the iPod through the IM600 (Play, Pause, Skip ahead, Skip back).

3 - Charges the iPod if the IM600 is plugged in.

I bought this cable today so I could use my IM600 speakers with my new iPad. It works great except that it does not charge the iPad. This is not a surprise but the specs don't mention it. That would have been a five-star feature. I note that some other reviewers mention it not charging an iPhone either, possibly depending on the accessory used.

Another thing to note: this cable (as described) is only 8" long. That severely limits how you can position your devices.
Overall, once you get your devices positioned so that they are not tugging on the cable, it seems to work great.

I bought this so I could play music in my car using my iPhone 5 BUT it ONLY works for the sound. It DOESN'T show the music info or allow me to change the song like my iPhone 4s. Now I have to look at my phone to change the song instead of my stereo and last time I checked it's a hefty fine to get a ticket for being on your phone.

The REAL reason I am giving it 1 star is because after a 3 months it already disconnects and connects simply by touching the chord. I keep it in my car for the most part so it's not like I'm carry it around where it could be damaged. I would expect it to at least last as long as some of my iPhone chargers I have had for YEARS!

Does not charge iPhone 5 when used with some accessories.

When used with some 30 PIN docking stations, it does charge the iPhone 5. When used with other 30 PIN accessories that consistently charge 30 PIN iPods, this cable does NOT charge the iPhone 5. Charging does not work when used with an P.I.E. FRDW/PC-POD2 (replaces the 6 CD changer in Ford vehicles with a 30 PIN iPod interface).

Very disappointing. How hard is it to charge an iPhone 5?

Works fine but is way overpriced

I bought this to connect my iPhone 5 to my two audio docks in the house. Unlike the $29 adapter, which is also overpriced, I don't have a problem connecting to my iPhone in it's case. Still, it's not the most elegant design for an adapter, and I have to set the phone on top of the table or counter my audio dock device is on and I have to twist the phone in an odd way to navigate through my music selections. But the sound is fine, no issues at all on that front. But $39? For a bit of plastic and metal? It's ridiculously over-priced, but you absolutely have to have one or more if you have audio equipment bought during the 30-pin connector era. I feel a bit like I've been mugged for this.

I had some concerns, after reading other people's reviews, whether this adapter would work to allow me to connect a usb keyboard for writing and email. There are times when my bluetooth keyboard runs low on power and I had been able to connect my a desktop wired USB keyboard to myiPad 3, the question was whether it would work on the iPad Mini via this adapter. The answer is YES!!

I bought this at the Apple Store the other day. I've had my iPhone 5 for about a month, and during this time I could not listen to music on my iHome. It drove me crazy, so I bought this cable, even though it is 40 dollars. It works for me, it charges my phone and lets me listen to music, so it does everything I need.
