    Dock me in your pocket

    Plus:
    Solid design which will physically support your iPhone 5 in any open dock. Works seamlessly with all my accessories allowing for charging and audio transmission.

    Minus:
    Very small and easy to loose and will not work with any iPhone case. Video out didn't work with my Apple HDMI 30-pin AV adapter must buy a lightning to digital AV adapter.

    Awkward but works

    Obviously as stated with certain cases it is not going to work. Having an Otter box Defender case I thought the same thing. It actually fits in the Defender. It works well with the stand up style ipod docks.

    Product doesn't mate well with protective cases

    The little plug isn't long enough to go into the phone if your protective case is on your iPhone. Good thing I have surgical scalpels and dental drills to do surgery on my phone case to open up a place for the adaptor to fit into my iPhone 5 while the case is still on. How hard would that be to design into the case in the first place? Or to make a longer adaptor? The adapter has wasted space where the iPhone 4 side of the adaptor connects making the iPhone 5 sit to high on my alarm clock. Geniuses?

    This little adapter is what you need to use your iPhone 5 with the Bose sound docks (until they come out with a new model that has the smaller pin connector). It works fine, however you will need to handle gently when connecting with it since the small side of the adapter looks like it could probably break really easily.

    Pin to short

    This will play alarms and charge my iPhone 5 with my speaker set (which is Sony and I love love love it) the audio works no problems but it won't fit into my phone with the case on. :( really apple, there has to be something you can do for us. My case doesn't need to be on when its on the dock but I put it on EVERY NIGHT! I don't want my case to get stretched out and useless because I have to take it off every night... I'm going to take a Dremel to it and see if I can make it fit on my own. This is a great adapter you guys... I was hesitant to try it because of all of the negative reviews but I tried it with great hope it would work and it did. Good luck in all your endeavors...

    Works as advertised

    I bought this adaptor because I had 4, 30-pin cables already when I got my iPhone 5. This adaptor works exactly as needed. Allows me to sync to my desktop, charge with the wall outlet and control the iPhone via my car steering wheel controls through the USB port. I also have a Griffin black snap case on my phone and it does not block the adaptor. Saved me the trouble of wasting the old wires. Only problem is the price tag, it's about as big as a quarter and cost about $35 after taxes. Other than that it works perfectly.

    Handy, but also annoying.

    I purchased this to use with my old iPhone 4S cords. I thought that it was a great idea until I realized what an annoyance the shape was. Because it is so wide and the lightning plug so small, I can't use the cord with my phone when I have my phone case on it! the extra width doesn't fit into the spot at the bottom of the case that is provided to let the cord in. Wish Apple had of thought of this when they manufactured it. Would have been easy enough to taper the end.

    It work fine with my old 4S car charger, it fit perfect with my iPhone 5 case Ballistic, also sit well on my Brookstone for charging & listening to music.

    Let me plug in my PKard CAC/PIV Reader

    Worked great in letting me plug in my existing PKard smart card reader - worked right out of the box, so I can continue to get to secure sites and don't have to wait to buy a new 9-pin version of an accessory that I already own.

    Failure to adapt

    I love Apple products. I am a constant and vocal proponent to friends and family alike. However, glaring errors in product design as with this simple, yet costly, solution to the adapter change is unacceptable. I bought two adapters to accompany my two phones, for my multitude of car and wall chargers. But, apparently I have run afoul of an unwritten Apple directive? Thou shalt not cover thy phone! The adapter, most likely, won't fit your phone when cased.

    Do yourself a favor and check out the product at an Apple store first. As for me? I'll keep the faith and return these disappointing solutions to my adaptation problem. I will remain an Apple fan until they prove themselves unworthy. There is no shortage of other platforms and products. Please Apple, don't turn into the designers I abandoned for your superior machines.

    charge and play music@ the same time

    So i have an Ihome and i recently got the iphone5. what is the used of having the iphone 5 if i have the 30 pins. so i got the the lighting adapterfor it and after reviewing what people wrote saying that it didnt work i was disappointed but still got it anyways and take the chance.. if anything it can be my charger.. but it charge and play music at the same time. so i am very happy and just go for it.

    does NOT support audio on my iHome and must remove iPhone cover

    This does NOT permit transmission of my iTunes music through my iHome clock/radio/iPhone connector, which I was able to do with my old iPhone. I have one iHome at home and one at the office, so this is very disappointing.

    All I can use this adapter for on the iHome is recharging--and then, only if I am very careful to position it to ensure a connection--it easily slips out of position. The cover I bought does not have a large enough opening to accommodate the larger part of this adapter. For this limited functionality, you are better off using the (cheaper) cord connector, which doesn't require removal of the cover.

    A seller of these adapters at an airport store told me that there were issues with audio, contrary to what was touted by Apple on this site. I decided to wait and go to an Apple store to be sure I bought a genuine Apple adapter, in the hope that the audio worked as claimed. But the genuine adapter I bought does not work. Maybe it works with some accessories but not others.

    Gets The Job Done

    I guess I'm glad I have the adapter for when I'm in a pinch. However, it will not work with any phone that has a case which many people have pointed out. I did find that it works if you have a silicon case that can flex around it or a snap on case that does not surround the ports at all.

    This adapter maybe short, but I am in love with it. I have 4 "old" iphone/iPod chargers, and they work impeccably with my new iPhone 5 charger. Get one!

    Extremely POOR item

    Wasted $30..for nothing more than a charger. Would not work as a adapter for any of my docks. Apple markets itself as a high priced superior product line. If Apple was so concerned about it's "quality" it would provide a easy all purpose adapter for the new "5" items. I am a recent convert to Apple and I am SOOOO disappointed.

    Works Perfect

    I had first bought a non apple adapter off eBay which would not play audio but only charge my iphone5. I just received my adapter from apple and it works perfect in my Bose sound dock and as well as my iPod interface in my Honda. This adapter does not interfere with my slim iPhone5 case cover. I'm still loving Apple :)

    Works great with my Logitech S715i recharagable speaker!

    This adapter works with my speaker, alleluia, and plays music and charges my phone too! Depending on the technology of your sound system, it might only charge and not play music, depending especially on how the signal is on the speaker systems. Other than that heads up note. I have no complaints. :-)
