    Returning! Waste of Money!

    • Written by from Omaha

As the title suggests, I am returning this product. I have a slim fit Speck case, and it doesn't work at all with it on it. I'm incredibly disappointed as it would have been nice to be able to use the speaker dock gift my brother got me for the holiday with my phone. Had I realized that I would have so much trouble with finding adaptable products for the new iPhone, I would have gotten the older version. I am floored that Apple would create a new product with such a poorly designed adapter. What a disappointment.

    Works as expected!

    • Written by from Miami

Pros: Charges very quickly. I like that the plug is smaller. I always felt the other one was too big even from the first time I purchased an iphone in 2009.

Cons: Length of cable. I always thought they were too short anyway. Price: It's an apple product... they're overpriced in EVERYTHING.

Comment: To those who blame the cable for not fitting with a phone-case.. How about blaming the case instead? The adapter is about as thin as it needs to be. It's the case-manufacturer who needs to work around the cable, not the other way around.

    Works well but overpriced!

This adapter should've came with the iphone 5. It worked well with my USA SPEC PA15-ACUxl ipod integration kit for my Acura TL

    3 stars for costing $30!

    Pricey, but it works!

    • Written by from Shelby Township

Previously attempted to purchase an aftermarket substitute for the lightning adapter for the 30-pin plug for my trucks radio. Those products weren't recognized by the radio or my iPhone 5, but did provide charging and data transfer into a computer.

After being unsuccessful with the cheaper option I decided to try the Apple branded lightning to 30-pin adapter. Without much expectation, it worked well beyond my expectation! The radio and iPhone instantly recognized the device providing a charge to my iPhone. An audio signal was provided from my iPhone to the radio and the radio controls worked for pausing songs, changing tracks, as well as rewinding and fast-forwarding (just like before the adapter using my previous iPhone 3G and 4.

The adapter itself seems expensive, but it WORKS! I do not rest my iPhone right side up resting on the adapter for fear of the adapter breaking in the lightning port.

    Works as advertised

    • Written by from San Francisco

Small and compact enough to stick in your wallet. The width of your 30-pin to USB cable. Easy to lose. Over-priced. Necessary if you have the iPhone 5 and need to connect to devices like docks and such. Did I mention over-priced?

Lightening plug too short to work with cases

    • Written by from Milwaukee

The part that plugs into the iPhone is too short. If your iPhone is in a case, the case has to be removed in order for the Lightening part to plug into the phone. Very poor design!

Adapter too short to use if your iPhone has a cover

    • Written by from Wynantskill

This was poor planning, if you have your phone in any kind of case, this adapter will not work. It is too short to fit. $29 wasted in my opinion!!

Thin design! Don't have to remove my iphone 5 cover that I bought from Snapfish. Works on both my Philips alarm clock, AND my BOSE speaker system. Very pleased. Just pricey!

    Works great, precision made product

    • Written by from Olympia

Is a fine, precision made adapter that fits and works very well. Its has a very snug fit and will hold my iPhone perfectly in every station or dock I have without issue. Works in my car without having to buy additional cords.

have to remove plastic seat to get audio connection

    • Written by from Quispamsis

Bought a Lightning connector for 7th gen IPod but I had to take off the plastic seat from my Sony Dream Machine radio and Altec Lansing mini-system to get a proper connection for audio. The IPod is now perched precariously on the pin connector but at least it works. My 3rd gen IPod did not have the same issue.

    Well done.

We have iPhone and iPad speakers and devices all over the house. This adapter works beautifully with all of our devices. Our iPhone 5s have cases and we don't have any problem fitting them onto it. The fit is also much more stable and secure than one would imagine by looking at the small pin dock. It's a great solution to the new connector and the old devices.

If you have a case don't waste your money. I am not happy at all with this purchase it was a complete waste of money if you have a protective case on your phone.

    works even better

    • Written by from Kearny

than the cord that came with my iPhone, which sadly only works in certain positions. I've had my adapter for a few months now and it works really well to charge/sync my phone. It also connects to my Bose SoundDock with no issues.

Thunderbolt to 30 pin adapter no connection

    • Written by from Katy

The adapter is allowing me to charge but that is all. I am unable to connect to iTunes or transfer data from my phone to my computer via the cable?! Not worth the price!

It's ok to read once in awhile

    • Written by from Virginia Beach

    1. You can look at the box and tell if it will work with the case you have on your phone.

    2. It says on the box it does not support video output.

All in all, I think it's great & I can't wait to use my old 6ft 30pin cord.

    Meh... at best

    • Written by from Boston

I originally bought this so I could dock my phone on my Beats By Dre BeatBox.... it doesn't even work. All that happens is that my phone charges, which is pretty cool I guess... but I can't play music. The only reason I use this now is to bring around with me in my pocket in case my phone is dying so that I can use someone else's 30-pin wire and charge my phone... because everyone has a 30-pin wire. Works fine with other docks, sadly just not with the BeatBox.

    Don't buy

    • Written by from Fort Worth

If you would like to take your case off your phone every time you want to use it, than this will prob work for you... did not work for me though. I wish I would have had a change to read all these other reviews before... I am returning this and getting the adapter with the cord.

    Worked great for me.

But it was very helpful that I read the reviews prior to making the purchase. I made sure I bought a phone cover that didn't interfere with the connecting of the adapter.
