    Does not charge and play music at the same time with iHome Stuff

    I own a few iHome clock radios that have the 30pin connectors. Love these radios but now with my new Mini iPad it will not charge while docked. It will play music but will not charge at the same time. Whats the point!!! Apple why don't you get your stuff together and stop making our lifes difficult. Add standard ports and stop ripping us off on all these nasty add on adapters. I carry enough stuff around without worring about more adapters, cords and chargers.

    Happy Happy Happy!!!

    When I received the IPHONE 5 I didn't realize that it would need a dock adapter...I first ordered thru Amazon (as they were cheaper) but a week later they refunded my money due to inability to "complete my order" - in other words, they didn't have the product! Fortunately I work down the street from an Apple store and when I called, they had the dock adapters...my concern was that would it hold secure - yes it does...other concern...my phone cover - I purchase covers where it does not block the connections to the adapter or headphones...I am a happy customer...

    Adapters work fine for us

    We bought 6 of these...they work fine for us and we have the Ringke slim cases. If your case covers part of the speaker or headphone connector it may not work. I wish they came in black and white.

    Not a quality solution- poor sound quality

    If you have a car and or sound accessory that used the 30 pin connection get ready for a reduced sound quality experience. From Apple I expected more and frankly for $30 it should work perfectly. Wasn't the idea to move to a better/ digital experience with thunderbolt connection? Also, my home JBL iphone accessory has a slight buzzing sound during playback.

    Works Great / Can Finally Use My Dock Again!!!

    This adapter is very nice and easy to use. Just plug and plug. It doesn't feel flimsy or cheap, it feels sturdy... as with all of Apple's products. Also, it's really small. Smaller than I thought it would be. I'm currently using it with my iPhone 5 and a Sony stereo/clock dock. The sound sounds PERFECT! There's no off-balance, it's in full stereo, and the buttons and the remote for the dock communicate perfectly with my iPhone. There's no lag - as if there's a connector involved.

    The only downside is that the adapter makes my iPhone stand higher than it should in the dock, but that's a small price to pay for use of the dock again.

    Works as advertised for the most part.

    I have used this adapter with numerous chargers and docks. It works with all the chargers (car, wall, as well as external battery booster from Griffin) One of my older clock radios by iHome would not work properly - it would charge but the controls on the radio would not control the music functions on the phone. The adapter makes the phone much taller so some of the docks may not support it well. In some cases it looks like it will tip over any second. (That has not happened yet.) It works well with my case since my case has a large opening on the bottom. As with all models before 5, there are plenty of cases out there that will not work well with many docks or connectors. If the foot print of the adaptor were any smaller it would not work with any of the docks out there and I believe that is what Apple intended it for.

    Terrible product

    I bought three of these adapters in the hopes that I could use them in order to use the radios I had previously for my iPhone4. They will plug in and recharge the phone, but the adapter is completely useless when it comes to transferring the data to the radio systems in order to play my music. So I wasted 90$ on a bunch of useless trinkets that don't play the music on the electronics I bought them for. Further more, they don't even fit properly if you have your case on.

    Avoid at all cost, apple obviously didn't think this item through, I'm thoroughly disappointed.

    This connector saved my new car's radio!

    I bought a new 2012 car with iPhone connectivity (phone and full music control) thru the car radio & steering wheel controls and when I got my iPhone 5 I thought I was out of luck; but with this beautiful connector the iPhone 5 now works perfectly with my car.

    Disappointing...Bluetooth options may be better

    This is a disappointing move from Apple...not because they changed from 30-pin to lightning (change is inevitable), but because the lightning interface thus far offers no advantages vs. 30-pin; in fact, it's a step BACKWARDS (no video out, may not charge your device depending on the dock it's connected to). I bought one knowing there was no video out, but to not support charging with all 3rd party docks (I have two JBL docks) is unacceptable. I will probably return it and get Bluetooth 30-pin streaming receivers to play music. I hope Apple offers updated Lightning accessories in the future to address these deficiencies, support faster data transfers, etc.

    Waste of Money, it does not work with my Sony docking station stereo. Lastly get a cable to hooking it up? To be quite honest, looks pretty tacky. Not fan of the "New Lightning." Getting tired of Apple now.

    As a converter to change an original Apple 30-pin charge/sync cable to Lightning it works well. At least until until you try to connect it to an iP5 in a case, then not so much.

    As a converter for dock-type 30-pin connectors it is sketchy. The plastic that surrounds the 30-pin connector to form the "socket" is thin-walled and flexible. Not very robust. For dock accessories without a rear support your iOS device wobbles precariously in space. The lightning connector has very little surface area to support and lock in. Under the weight of an iPad ... doubtful. Next gen docks (if any are released) will need to be substantially redesigned to properly support iOS products with Lightning connectors.

    What makes iPhones and iPads useable given that they don't have replaceable batteries is access to lots of charging options. You know if you use your iOS device heavily that recharge power is not optional. Access to 30-pin power was becoming almost ubiquitous. Now have to carry an adapter or length of cable around at all times, at least for the foreseeable future.

    My suggestion is to go with the 0.2m adapter because it will work with cases and won't stress your older docks or the Lightning connector on your new iOS device. The 0.2m cable isn't "Apple sleek" but it works.

    Worst Apple product ever(Lighting cable)

    The lighting cable is the worst Apple product ever. You cant use the same power cube to power multiple devices. I have to now have several cubes plugged in to charge my iphone5 and my new ipad. If I try to use the wrong power cube to charge my ipad it can take up to 20 hours to get a full charge. Not to mention it was great having an old style dock on my counter that I could come home and put my iphone on to charge. It also had a place to rest and charge my ipad. Now I have to have wires draped all over the counter.

    doesn't work with either of my stereo accessories, only with some chargers

    I have the Roxy stero system and the ihome and neither works with this adaptor. Only my chargers work with it. I guess I need to buy all new bluetooth accessories??

    Bose sounddock

    Do not get this if you're using iphone 5 to any Bose Sounddock. I too was told this by BOSE. Get the CABLE! As people note, a case is a issue, it sits to high on sounddock and backwards. Bad idea Apple. GET THE MORE EXPENSIVE CORD!

    Very poor quality. Wasted money as my adapter lasted only for 3 months. I used it with my Belkin car charger. Don't by the adapter. Buy a new charger. Only reason for me to use the adapter was because I have the FM transmitter in the charger

    It's fine

    I use this with my SONY charger stand/alarm clock base (made for the iPhone 4/4s and iPod). I never have to take my case off--and it's a thick leather case. I'm not sure what kind of cases the users who reviewed this before me are using. To me, it sounds like they just needed to complain about something.

    Works fine - if you don't use a case

    The adaptor does exactly what it is designed to do and works just fine. Unfortunately most case manufacturers are designing the cases for the width of the thin lightening plug and not the width of this adaptor. Buy a second lightening cord - it is cheaper anyway!

    Sorry I upgraded to iPhone 5

    iPhone 5 is a great product. But and A BIG BUT. If they weren't going to make the adapters support everything from audio, to Video. Its a worthless purchase. I was perfectly happy with my iPhone 3GS. When I used it on all my 30 pin docking devices I could watch videos.
    I feel as tho upgrading to iPhone 5 has taken me backwards. I'm constantly trying to move forward with my technology choices. Apple needs to step up and make the lighting to 30pin adapters video capable. I will not purchase nor urge my iPhone 4S friends to upgrade to iPhone 5 till they do this.
    This is the first time I have truly been unhappy with an Apple Product. My opinion is they put it out too soon, not having complete adapter support.
