No audio for the 7th Gen iPod! Buyer Beware!

    • Written by from APO

Since the update to the iOS, this pin and the cord/extender no longer work. It will charge my iPod, but no audio. I get the 'unsupported device' error message most of the time, but even when I don't, I still have no audio.
I have many 30-pin USB cords and my portable speakers are 30-pin. I needed an adapter so I could continue to use what I already possessed, so I purchased 2 adapters and a dock extender. ALL of them stopped working! This is not a coincidence. And like other reviews, the placement of the pin makes the iPod stick out to the side (offset/off-center) which means it won't fit in many docks, which was why I purchased the extender cord. Now nothing works! As much money as these things cost, they should work!!! I'm really ticked off because of this. I can only use that iPod in my car now using the audio jack. Thanks for nothing Apple!

    does not fit most cases

    • Written by from Bayside

I have a tech21 case and have to keep removing the case to use this connector. This defeats the purpose of having a case! The sales person by the accessories assured me that it would fit this case. Needless to say, its going back today! Buyer beware!

Can't play 7th gen Nano on any of my docks

    • Written by from Edmonton

I received a 7th generation Nano as a gift, and was looking forward to replacing my 5th generation one. I was disappointed to find that it had the "lightning" input instead of the old 30 pin, and I'd have to shell out more money to be able to listen to music through my docks. A bit of a rip-off, but I love my music so I bought this adapter. I have 3 different docks (that worked beautifully with my old ipod), and this thing won't work with any of them. With one, an "accessory not supported" message shows on the ipod screen, with the second, nothing at all happens, and with the third, the ipod won't physically fit in the space because the adapter causes it to stick out sideways compared to how the old one would sit. A big waste of money. I'm kicking myself for letting the old ipod go. I should have stuck to what worked.

    Not useful

    • Written by from New York

I was really disappointed with the use cases for this adapter. Pretty much just for syncing. I tried to use it with my video/projector 30 pin cable for a keynote presentation (no audio or video). So very limited. The real clincher was when I connected it to my iPad Air a warning came up "This accessory not compatible" - their own product was rejected by their own product - therein lies the answer.

Adapter does not work with 5C iphone case

    • Written by from Bellerose

You would think since Apple made the case, the phone and the adapter that they would all work together. This adapter does not fit if you use the 5C Apple case. When I called Apple to complain, they sounded surprised. Go figure. Apple makes great products, but they did not think this one through. If you need an adapter, go with the one with the cord. That works fine.

NANO 7TH GEN NOT FOR BOSE DOCKING STATION

    • Written by from Upper Nyack

So I bought a iPOD NANO 7th Gen. since my iPOD 2nd Gen. died and had to buy a $29 Lightning 30 pin adapter for my Bose Docking station, at first it worked for 5mins then it stopped working. Got back in my car, thinking it was damaged, to drive another 1hr round trip to exchange it for the $39 Lightning and it still did not work. Thought I damaged the Docking station but then noticed all of the bad reviews about docking station fails I will be getting back into my car to return this piece of carp, not sure if there is an alternative. Extremely expensive as well!

    Doesn't work with iPhone 5s

    • Written by from Stoney Creek

Never worked straight out of the box. Message pops up instantly saying this device is not supported. Can't wrap my head around that because I bought it right from the apple store and the associate recommended it to me.

HORRIBLE DESIGN, DOES NOT WORK WITH ANY CASE

    • Written by from Sacramento

If I could rate zero I would. This adaptor does NOT work with any case on the iPhone 5. Question: Why design an adaptor that only functions with the case off? Answer: Stupidity and lack of attention to detail.

Not only did Apple design an iOS (iPhone 4) that would intentionally not work, creating the need to "upgrade" to a newer iPhone, but now an entire new set of car chargers, wall chargers, adaptors, you name it.. are all REQUIRED with the new models. How convenient! Let's take the customer for another set of expenses right!

This adaptor as well as the longer cord adaptor that's essentially the same thing, BOTH do not work when your phone has a case on it.

    TOTALLY UTTERLY WORTHLESS!!!

    Time for a Droid!

Okay so I had this lightning adapter for a few months, and just recently it hasn't worked! It will let my iPod charge, but won't play my music!! I spent $30 on this thing, and now I'm completely frustrated that it doesn't work!! It needs fixed now before more people waste their money like I did.

    Completely useless

    • Written by from Calgary

Does not work on any of my devices with a case even Apples own leather iPhone case. Attention to detail was one of Apples greatest strength, didn't someone bother to think "hmmm will this overpriced accessory work with our other overpriced accessory?" Apple you were able to foresee the revolution in mobile computing but could not fathom that people would want to use a case with their devices? Complete FAIL! does not even deserve 1 star.

    • Written by from Fort Bragg

I'm not very happy. I listen to podcasts in my car on my old ipod touch just fine...I got a iphone 5s, this adapter, and now it only works half the time.
Whenever I shut the car off and back on the podcast stops playing. Whenever I use the bluetooth phone the podcast stops and won't start playing unless I unplug and replug in the iphone....such a rip off!

    Smart Cover

    • Written by from Quebec

This adaptor is NOT working if you have the SMART Cover on your iPapAir, It just does not fit into the very small connecting location of the SMART cover. Get the alternative instead (Lightning to 30-pin Adapter (0.2 m))

    Stopped Working

    • Written by from Hazel Park

I can get over having to take my case off, not a big deal to me at all... my problem is I have been using this adapter for a month and it won't work anymore. I can use it on my Sony dock and it only charges now, I can't play my music anymore (just stopped, no reason just won't work now). I thought it was the dock so I bought a new Samsung dock, and the same thing. It will charge but won't play my music through the dock. Very annoying and a huge waste of $30. Disappointed with this Apple product.
